Catalina Cafe is a hidden treasure nestled close to the FSU campus. They are able to provide unique items on their drink and food menus all while using high-quality ingredients. The service staff is knowledgeable and is able to provide recommendations based on your interests. I recommend getting the vanilla lavender flavoring in your coffee the next time youre there!
They were working so diligently with a very long line and getting coffee out quickly to everyone. The egg and cheese bagel sandwich with avocado was awesome especially for me, a vegetarian.Coffee here seems like a darker roast as it’s a bit stronger and more bitter but tasted great with white chocolate and caramel flavoring. It’s right across the street from some hotels and a cute place with outdoor seating as well.
Hands down best coffee intown. Well trained staff that shows in the quality of taste of the drink no matter who its made by. Cant go wrong with the selection of fresh food choices and baked goods.
This place had my favorite breakfast sandwich to date! I had a bacon, egg, and cheddar on a bagel with a brown sugar and Caramel latte. So so scrumptious with lots of variety for breakfast and fantastic coffee!!
What a great little find!! Just visiting, but if we are ever back this way, this place will definitely be a repeat visit! Lattes are amazing and dont underestimate the food!!!
Unfortunately this will be the last time I ever come here. I wish it ended on a positive note, but it does not. I have been going to Catalina for nearly five years. What always stood out was the amazing coffee, delicious food, and top notch employees! Yet, since this past summer I noticed all three of those have dropped in preparation, taste, and personality. I was surprised the first time I noticed. Shrugging it off as an off day, but it became the new normal. Every time I went it was disappoint after disappointment. The coffee did not taste the same and my order was always wrong (paying extra every time for extra meat and never getting extra meat). After continuing to go for the remainder of the fall, becoming less and less eager to go I have completely switched over to Starbucks. I went to Catalina just yesterday to give it a final shot... I left disappointed. I never leave a review, but I feel as though it is an obligation of a once loyal customer to inform management and the owner of why I wont becoming back. I appreciate the past 5 years (wish there were more) of Mr. Williams and the Turkey sandwiches and most of all making my mornings. I wish Catalina the best! If you havent gone, give them a try. Still five stars for five years.
Really awesome place in a cool and convenient downtown location. I work midnights, so its nice to be able to go straight to work and get a great cup of coffee and a warm meal. Theyve got lots of outdoors seating, but with the cold weather its nice to dine inside. The atmosphere is great and super fitting for Gaines St, and the staff is very friendly. But, onto the (literal) meat and potatoes of the review, the food and coffee were absolutely delicious. I ordered a Zoes Revenge, which is a white chocolate latte, and its damn near the best latte Ive had the pleasure of sipping on. Complementing my coffee, I got the open-faced lox sandwich and it made for a tangy and filling start for my day. Its really hard to find bagels and lox in town! Im glad that they not only serve them here, but that theyre also positively delicious. Id heartily recommend this to anyone looking for a bite to eat in the morning, or a cup of coffee at any time of the day.
Here during spring break so the campus was a ghost town but I enjoyed the quiet vibe. Service was great. Friendly and attentive. Latte and pour over were fantastic and the breakfast sandwich was just what I needed. Love a proper cafe like this. Every town should have one. Can’t beat the location and the building is pretty cool.
Delicious coffee and food. Employees were so helpful and kind as well.
Food is disgusting. Eggs and bacon served cold and soggy.
The KINDEST guy was working when me and my sister went in for coffee. When she accidentally dropped her coffee, he made another one (with just as much love as he put into the first one) right away. He checked with us to make sure our food order was exactly as we wanted it, and it was SO GOOD. Just really great service, excellent food, and quality coffee — you should go :)
Really good turkey/brie/raspberry pressed sandwich.
Incredible!! Pleasant atmosphere, well prepared people to receive us! I love this place!☕️
Maybe it my mistake to order the sandwich with cucumber and tomato.. But it was rather small and not good at all.. We went other place to have breakfast.. The coffee was good.. I am not great fan of sour coffee, but it was good.. The service was good. I looked on other plates near me and day looked better than my portion.. They serve only omelets or scrambled eggs..
I enjoy the vibe of this cafe and the drinks are pretty yummy. The service is quick and always friendly.
The sausage egg and cheese was really delicious, well seasoned. The hot chocolate was really good, especially due to this cold weather. Definitely coming back.
Great place! I was staying at the hotel around the corner and came to Catalina Café for two mornings in a row. Both times I was there I was pleasantly greeted.Their house blend coffee was absolutely delicious. They had a variety of things to choose from in their case. There was also plenty of seating inside and out.
The coffee whether hot or iced, delicious.
Great coffee, great outdoor seating, great local coffee shop vibe. I love this place.
Tally is so lucky to have a number of great local coffee shops, but Catalina holds the #1 spot for having the best food/drink menu options. The large covered outdoor patio make it a great coffee spot any day and even more so now in light of the pandemic.
Love this place!
Great place to hangout or chat!
The hungry tally on ciabatta is delicious. Service was fast.
Great coffee and friendly staff. The lox bagel is fantastic!
This location has its own separate and distinct personality from the Gaines St. location and welcomes you as an adult to read a book, while the other one greets you as a student needing a pick-me-up. I really hadnt expected to find such a difference! Now Catalina Cafe on Capital Circle has become my go-to spot for a cup of coffee and relaxation on the weekend.
A small, cozy cafe where you can taste delicious desserts and coffee. I like it!
Saw this as an option for coffee/food when I looked for popular breakfast places on Google. Hubby, our 6m old and I found the place and were greeted upon entering. The staff was very polite and gave us a minute to look at the menu since this was our first visit. We placed our order and it was delivered quickly. I was surprised at how big the eggs are on our sandwiches and dont get me started on how AMAZING the coffee is.
Good coffee, good breakfast/lunch menu with sandwiches and wraps. Recommended local place to enjoy yourself for a quick in and out or for a long visit with a good book or a good friend.
I went for breakfast, it was overall pretty alright food. The menu items were not super out there, but what I got tasted alright. However, the quiche was just a little dry. Other than that, the customer service was very nice and food was relatively quick.
Good taste of coffee and humble staff😊
Got to say pretty let down .. Went based on the reviews and ordered a breakfast sandwich to go. charged me 50.cents for a tomato but tell me why it was a soggy old tomato and then since when does eggs look like spongey blocks with bubbles in the middle I took a picture but cant post it here. Needless to say wont be going back not to mention the barista doesnt seem like he wants to help anyone anyway.
It has a nice, relaxing vibe as you enter. Hipster-esque but the prices arent too high. They have seasonal teas as well as many different brews of coffee.I decided on the Chai Latte and a Morrocan Mint Tea. The Chai Latte is phenomenal iced with whole milk. The tea has just a tad bit of honey so I mostly taste the tea but that is not a bad thing.Great products at a good price and a good venue.
Great GF wrap with turkey, brie, bacon, and raspberry dressing! I highly recommend that dish. The homemade potato chips were light and crispy. The food was so good that I returned for lunch a second time during my four-day stay. The GF wrap with turkey and fig was also quite tasty. The service was friendly and fast, and there is both indoor and outdoor seating.
Coffee was just ok, nothing out of this world. Staff didnt let us know when we ordered that my Lox Sandwhich (which was not only terrible but somehow had twice the amount of tomato as it did salmon) was going to take 45 minutes to an hour. Yes, thats right an hour for a terrible Lox Sandwich. This should take no more than 5-10 minutes but then I looked into their kitchen and it was totally unorganized and basically being ran by one person. No excuses simply terrible.
So far its my favorite coffee shop around. The food/coffee is great, the service is so friendly (which is very important), and the atmosphere is pretty cool. Ive been a couple of other places but I always come back here
I love this place. The people are so sweet and the food is delicious. What more could you want?! And Micah is amazing. The atmosphere is top notch
The coffee is amazing. The reason why my review is 4 star is because it says they close at 6, and my father and I just drove there and arrived at 5:05 and barista said sorry we close at 5. After we told him it said 6 on google he still could not pull us a shot of espresso... not a big deal but disappointing considering the coffee is so good and we had to go to greenwise for a coffee and not the same at all.
The tall guy I think his name is Meka was very sweet. I would Definitely recomend the cold brew. Its great to cool you off on a hot day
Several of us from Bicycle House go to Catalina on Gaines nearly every morning.... The space is small and so, when it is busy, which it often is, the staff has to hustle, and they do, with good result - the coffee is not only good, but consistently so, the food is also good and the product consistent as well.Somehow, in spite of this shop being as busy as some big-city Starbucks - the staff maintains a personable and intimate rapport. This is due in part to the staff themselves, and as well the owners who designed the space and hire the staff. Hats off to Catalina....Quick Note: to the folks who gave this place bad reviews!!!! Please give them another chance, you will not be disappointed
This is a super cozy coffee shop. The building is cool and their menu is small but mighty. After trying it once, my girlfriend and I went back again later the same week. We both order the Hungry Tally sandwich on ciabatta and I ordered the BEST chai tea latte Ive ever had.
Big selection of drinks, nice atmosphere. The white chocolate honey iced latte is amazing!
Just make sure its ol dude making the sandwiches, the girl doesnt put enough love into it
I really wanted Catalina to be my new go-to coffee/sandwich shop after Atomic shut down, to fill that favorite-local-spot void, but Ive been a few times now and they dont impress me. The staff always gets some part of my order wrong, and you can tell its because they just dont care. I think the espresso and breakfast sandwiches are delicious, but the service seems very poor and Ive never felt particularly welcome there :/
This is probably my favorite coffee shop in town, the coffee is always so good. However, I do have three small complaints. One, I wish it was open later than 7pm, its way too early to close up shop in my opinion. Theyd get so much more business from the college crowd if theyd stay open later. Two, they have a bunch of junk by the front door which constricts some seating and seating is already scarce. Its annoying to see all of that stuff by the door just stuffed into a corner every time Im in there. Third, I wish they had more electrical outlets or at least extension cords or something... This place is amazing, it would be 5 stars if theyd fix those three things! Nonetheless, Im still a big fan of Catalina Cafe. Thanks.
Nice little cafe with a great cold brew and tasty bagels for a decent price
Good breakfast sandwiches, Coffee A+
Best place ever! I love the staff and how close it is from my apartment. Youre the best guys!!
Fast and delicious! The coffee ice cubes are the best addition to my mazagran. :) the hungry Tally is the dopest breakfast sandwich!
Good coffee and you can tell they really care about what theyre creating. Nice place to meet for coffee or a snack. Last time I was there I had very slow service and mediocre meal, hopefully that was a one time thing.
The wait was very long and there were just two people ahead of me when I walked in. The selection of baked goods was very disappointing. The order was wrong despite being just three items and the coffee is so-so at best. Certainly better than a Starbucks but compared to really good coffee shops I have visited it is not up there.
Came here for a light breakfast, good bfast sandwiches and coffee. Not too much seating so don’t bring a huge party
Service was Super friendly and gave great suggestions.
Coffee was not exceptional. Green Tea was different, earthy. Bagel and cream cheese was fresh and tasty. Free Wi-Fi, we stayed three hours in the outside seating area with no one rushing us leave.
Wonderful food and service, and extremely convenient location for the FSU community. Order the veggie quiche; youll be glad you did!
Good service and atmosphere plus strong coffee. The perfect combination.
Great place for great coffee. At least three location in Tallahassee - Capital Circle NE (across from Sonnys, Gaines Street and below the Edison). - Fast Internet too!
All I had was a cappuccino but it was good.
Adorable shop, even more adorable staff; they obviously care about coffee here, and you can taste it. Food is standard breakfast and lunch sandwiches, but the ingredients are definitely of a caliber to match the cuppa.
Listen to Carlie. Listen to Carlie. Listen to Carlie. Vanilla cinnamon peppermint latté. Listen to Carlie. She is the wisest of all mortals who walk the earth, though she is immortal herself. So listen to her. Listen to Carlie. Not Brandon, though he is wise and near immortal. Listen to Carlie. I may only be a mortal, but I am wise enough to know you must listen to CarlieGood coffee
Seattlite here to report that the coffee is good at Catalina. And, I really like the outdoor community seating. Not much in the way of food, but you are surrounded by eateries, so there are choices.
Real coffee. Good breakfast. Open early.
The woman taking our order was really nice! The food was excellent and we all enjoyed our meal
Jus a nice atmosphere nice choices pastries delicious Coffees.kool location!
Love the people working!! Tall guy with beard and glasses had great personality!!
Great coffee! You must try their cold brew. Please do NOT put cream or sugar in it!
Awesome coffee and breakfast shop. Perfect study spot, and great service!
WONDERFUL COFFEES HOT AND COLD BREAKFAST FOOD ON POINT
Frittata was excellent. Homemade caramel in my almond milk latté was heavenly. Great atmosphere. Five star service
College town coffee with delicious flavors. Whats not to love. Come here every time you are in Tally.
Great coffee. They source and roast their beans with passion and care. Nice owner and friendly baristas.
Best little coffee spot in Tallahassee. 4 locations but this one is my favorite. Great coffee and good snacks!
Good coffee and pet friendly, but can be difficult to find seating
I have come here for over a year and enjoy everything about this place. The only improvement I can suggest is to add more outlets
Feeling down? When Come into one of their locations and for a little while everything seems right in the world =) true story! Get coffee, sit, sip, enjoy the music and breath xoxo
Been here many, many times. Always great! Very friendly and knowledgeable baristas. Highly recommended.
This cafe has excellent service and very quality coffee, unlike that of Lucky Goat. In being quite frank, Id say that this place has a good atmosphere but the outdoor area is too close to the noisy Gaines St to be preferred over the somewhat small inside. Their sandwiches are the bomb, however.
Great coffee and excellent service. Sometimes a little busy but serve a great exprsso.
If I could give 4.8 starts I would, because it still has coffee shop prices, however the service, portions and atmosphere is MUCH better than any Starbucks or most coffee shops. Highly recommended.
Came in on a Saturday. The place wasnt particularly busy. Nonetheless, the staff didnt care to acknowledge my presence so I walked out. The place really needs to work on improving their customer service.
Great place but this morning visit (my 5th visit) there was the worst experience. By far. I honestly came there for their sausage potato quiche, which is great for the most part. But i also decided to order a cafe con leche coffee, iced. I had to wait a total of 25 minutes before walking out the door with my order. The quiche came to me immediately, but after i noticed that patrons behind me were getting their coffee and leaving i had to inquire about my order, which is when i must have feel through the cracks. He made my coffee, but it was a hot coffee, i had to re-iterate that i ordered it iced (which was a little extra cost). He finally made it, and that was good, outside of the 25 minute wait. Next the quiche, the last two times i had it, was the best breakfast i have ever had from any coffee shoppe. This one was literally burnt. I had one of the edge slices so 3/4 of the food was hard so i had to tear it apart just to eat the center of it. I should have inspected it before i came back to my office to get this corrected but i assumed that it was gonna be of the same quality of my last two visits. As i am typing this i am looking at the scraps of my breakfast and i honestly dont want to take pic of this and let this pic represent the usual experience of the cafe. But after i type this, i am going to call, because the amount of money i paid and time was wasted, at least my order should have been right.Would have been 5 stars but this visit ruined it for me.
Wow! GREAT coffees and REALLY delicious sandwiches! The turkey & Fig on ciabatta bread was DYNAMITE! A delicious combination of Dijon mustard, turkey, cheese, and a fig spread on a soft ciabatta bun.Great outdoor atmosphere close to FSU campus and some local bookstores, Bread & Roses Co-op, and Railroad Square. My new favorite coffeehouse!!
Great location and the interior really appeals to the audience in the All Saints District. Great coffee as well.
Great cafe amazing sandwiches. Cool art.
Catalina Café has extended their quality and charm to the Gaines Street area and I couldn’t be happier! Just stopped in to get a double shot and received the best double, excellent service and even a quick tour! The owners of Catalina Café are the most down-to-earth, sweetest people and quality and service is what they are all about. And it shows. I love Catalina Café and will continue to visit as frequently as possible. Love that they are closer to my job, even though I have no qualms about visiting the first location :)Did I mention the espresso double I got was out of this world? Delicious and just what I needed on a Monday afternoon.
The best
Great way to start the morning! Shot of espresso, Ethiopian drip coffee then face the world!
Such a friendly staff!! Also, the veggie frittata is amazing and the outdoor seating is a cute spot to sit on a nice day
Simple, affordable, friendly breakfast experience.
Cozy location with friendly staff
Amazing coffee. Amazing WiFi. Wish they were open later!
Simply outstanding coffee. If youre an espresso aficionado who isnt willing to imbibe anything as long as it contains caffeine, then this is the place to go.
Cool place and nice prices. I cant stand rude people so I wont be dropping a penny on here
