I had my first lesson with Erik at Spool Studio, and I went from barely being able to sew a button to understanding the fundamentals of my sewing machine within one lesson. Erik is a very patient teacher, and readily walks you through the how, but also clearly explains the why. It was a lot of fun, and Im excited for my next lesson. He has curated a great selection of fabrics as well. We are lucky to have this resource in the neighborhood!

Super helpful and knowledgeable. Even makes custom clothing! Came here because my dog chewed my leather recliner they didn’t have the leather I needed at the time but still very helpful.

Erik has a passion for his artistry and it definitely emits the moment you step through the door of his vintage loft-styled storefront! We (myself & my fiancé, Crystal) felt blessed to meet someone so refreshing and just as serious about making every little detail the best it can be! I cannot wait to book a few classes with him to refresh my skills and learn the art of crafting a perfect corset.As for supplies, he carried the best of everything you would need to make an outfit (or commission him to)! There were so many different one-of-a-kind fabrics and I’m obsessed with the vintage lace I found for a project I am working on.He was kind enough to help us with free tips on how to best utilize all the fabric choices we picked. Spool studio is a Seminole Heights treasure where you can find rare vintage fabrics and patterns that are timeless in fashion. I had the privilege of meeting charismatic Erik, the proprietor who’s wit triggers you to laughter. I’ve only been sewing about one year and I learned a lot from him in 15 minutes. You can get sewing lessons from him one on one and I’ve found that sewing is very soothing and fulfilling. I like to support local business so I’m highly recommending his shop. He‘a constantly making you laugh, but you can sense the amount of skill he has. I plan on returning as well…check it out:)

I love this place. My mother was a seamstress back in the day and it just brought back some wonderful memories of dresses she made. Lots of unique fabrics and a great place to learn a new hobby in these times of ‘stay at home’. Also great place to give back to your community by shopping local.
