I wanted to sell off my ex wives engagement ring and wedding band since the divorce was final. I read online this place has fair prices and treats people well. Someone must have been having a bad day. I brought the rings down to see how much they’d offer for the 2 white gold rings with diamond inlays. Yes the diamonds are small I know. The buyer takes out one ring looks it over with that eye thing and offers $100 for the ring he looked at and the one he never even took out of the box as well. He said they’d buy mostly for the gold. I have the original receipt that was maybe 4 cents on the dollar if my math is right. And he didn’t explain anything. He was nice enough to give me directions to two other places though. Not trying to get a better deal or even get a call. But you may want to think about this experience if you ever decide to even come near the door here.

I was selling some of my jewelry, and the experience at Yates was superb! They were extremely pleasant to work with and I was treated respectfully and fairly. I had been to a few places before them (2 pawn shops and another jeweler) to get a ballpark estimate on what my things were worth, and Yates offered me more than twice the amount of the other highest offer. I would highly recommend to anyone with nice jewelry they want to sell.

HONEST JEWELERS! Hard to find these days, I had to sell an antique diamond and this was the only jeweler in town that didnt try to convince me my 1.5ct stone was worth $80 because it was an old mine cut. They helped me sort through a lot of old estate stuff and gave me a fair deal on what they were interested in, then helped me when I found a buyer for my diamond by giving the buyer an honest evaluation, where as another store tried again to convince me the cut made the stunning stone worthless. I highly recommend Arthur Yates and Sons Jewelers. They have been a Tampa icon for several decades, and you dont find that very often. I always go there to replace my watch batteries, and while I am there, they will fix my little jewelry repairs for no charge! You dont find THAT very often either! I recently brought them some older gold chains that I was no longer using for jewelry, and I thought they had extremely fair and competitive prices. Second time costumer selling gold. I knew Id go to Yates, but just for comparison, I stopped by a shop close to my house. I was initially offered $575. When I thanked the shopkeeper and said I needed to get some other quotes, he asked where was thinking of going. I NEVER said Yates, I simply said a shop on South Dale Mabry. Shopkeep offered me $675 as a courtesy so as to save gas. (19 mile drive.) I thanked him. Yates paid me $870 on the spot. Pretty sure the 19 mile drive was worth it.

Bought some earrings from Yates in2014 and they said if I ever wanted to trade up they would help me out. I went in yesterday with some earrings and traded out. Thinking over night I wasnt really happy with the earrings, today I brought the earrings back and traded again. Very nice and helpful!!! I got what I really wanted and my new earrings look amazing! I also sold some gold and silver, I got a GREAT deal on that as well. Great place to but very nice jewelry!!

Wonderful experience. The staff is so very kind there. I had a LOT of jewelry and was a little embarrassed to take it all in. I didn’t get her name but she never blinked at all the stuff, sorted through it and explained as she went, and I left with a nice check!!

Sold two silver eagles and got 95% spot. I had another, but I couldnt let it go for that price. Not even 19 bucks with spot being just under a penny.I had to give a photo ID for copy, sign my name, and provide a thumbprint.Their standard payment is a check, but I asked for cash. They let me endorse it and cash it themselves.I would go back if I had to and could do a check. It seemed like getting cash was a real hassle.Im definitely going to check around as this was my first sell. What Im saving my 5 stars for is: privacy, hassle free cash, and at least spot for silver eagles.

Love that this small business has a multi-generational staff offering wisdom and experience of the older guard of jewelers, and the younger team members using their insight to meet todays customers expectations (and grow business; I specifically went there thanks to Zacks great work with the social media and website). Craig was helpful and efficient, and I was in and out in minutes.

Excellent place to sell your old jewelry, watches and momentos! My mom had some old ring settings, watches, silver pieces and other items to sell. Based on the great reviews, we came here first and were very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge. The items were looked at from several different perspectives - the gold purity (10k, 14k, 18k), the watch mechanisms (innards), and the uniqueness of the items (i.e. a silver coin purse, gold filled pen knecklace, etc.). Never to get just one quote, my mom insisted on taking it to another jeweler that advertises in the paper and is in a large mall. All they really cared about was the gold purity. So back we went to Arthur Yates where we received 43% more for our items plus a couple of candy bars! Great place which we will come back to again!!

People were very nice. Gave quick service. My complaint is that I was never given a reciept with the current price of gold for the gold that I sold. Or with a breakdown of the the weight of my 10k, 14k and 18k along with the current price of gold for each and then the total for the 10k, 14k and 18k gold. Then I should have been given a total amont for gold minus their fee of whatever percent and the total amout to be paid to me. Basically, it would have been nice and more professional if they would have given me an itemized bill/invoice with a complete breakdown. So I could see how they came up with the total amount of money for the gold I sold them.

Being in New York made the process more complicated, but there was nothing that Ron and his team wouldnt do to make this an exciting and rewarding experience. Don’t be a fool like me. Years ago i sold a mint GMT Master II with the blue and red pepsi bezel. Having no idea what it was worth I figured I would have it looked at by Arthur Yates because I heard that they were honest people. They gave me $2650 for it. I figured they knew it was worth so I excepted. Turns out i had an Error Dial GMT and didn’t know it. Apparently The Roman numeral ii on my watch was misprinted as an 11 instead of ii Something Rolex never does is make mistakes when crafting their watches. It is referred to as a ‘Stick Dial’ or Error Dial. This flaw is very tiny and easy to miss unless you are an expert. Rolex produced a few of these with this flaw before the model was discontinued. They are very rare and I’m sure Arthur Yates knew what I had because they took quite a while to examine the watch in their back office Before giving me their lowball offer. After all they are the experts. I didn’t know any different so i excepted their offer. The day I walked out of there the watch was worth $9000. Since it’s discontinuation Its worth jumped to about $24,000. YES! My lost their gain. Still sickens me till this day. I guess the moral of the story is make sure you are an expert at what you are selling or you might just get taken advantage of At Arthur Yates.I’m sure that watch turned them a really nice profit but what did it really get them when the money was spent ? Shame..

The store is warm and friendly however they do not tell your coins weight is worth more then coins value based on the year so they only give you 1/2 of what is worth instead of the true value. They need to be honest and tell you both values or give you the best deal.

Im 27 and went in drove across town cause a friend of mine said its a good place to go. I get there the old man tells me he needs to call my mom when I told him my grandmother passed away and the jewelry was split between me and my sister. So he tells me to he needs to me to call my mom (whats she have to do with it) for one Im 27 (2nd) I told him from the beginning my grandmother passed away 3 months ago and Id like to sell these rings one just a gold band no stones no nothing and the other was a small stone. Do not waste your time here please. The old guy is going to waste your time. Oh I should I add I dont look like a druggy Im a clean cut white guy. Seriously people dont even waste the gas.
