Platinum Pawn Tampa has by far the most genuine, friendly, and charismatic staff out of any pawn shop I have ever been to. They have a wide variety of items for sale and are always attentive the moment you walk in the door. Anything from jewelry to music equipment to firearms this shop has it all! Great prices and a laid back yet professional atmosphere is everything you could ever ask for and more. This is my go to spot for items that arent typically found anywhere else and a definite must if you are in the area! Dont get swayed by larger pawn shop chains who are all about the money. Almost got scammed. I found a guitar on buya.com posted by platinum pawn. I was suspicious from start because they had stock photos instead of actual photo, unlike their other listings. Also, price was too good. I made an offer online on buya.com and it was accepted. They added a note to call them to give them shipping info and pay. This was also suspicious because buya has my address and usually you pay througg PayPal on buya.com. I called them anyways because I needed to see an actual photo of the item. I called right around when they opened. I asked to see a picture, they told me picture will be sent via text. Brian is the only associate I spoke with throughout the day. Picture wasnt sent for hours, so I called back. Brian told me he was the only person working that day, hence the slow progress. I asked why I cant complete the transaction through buya.com, he said because PayPal is down and I would have to use credit card. I asked why I cant use credit card on buya.com, he told me some other BS I couldnt make sense of. I told him i needed to see a picture before making a payment. He said he was extremely busy by himself and picture will be sent. I called couple times throughout the day asking for a picture. He did call back once to take down my address. I was thinking maybe buya.com has a fee, or maybe PayPal has higher fees than credit cards, thats why hes making me avoid using buya. Or maybe he knows PayPal is a lot better to buyer about getting money back when I get my bogus guitar. Anyways, after about 6-8 phone calls spanning 12 hour period, I finally got my pictures of the guitar. Guitar is supposed to be Martin HD-28V. Guitar looked nothing like what it was supposed to be. Looked like someone printed model number and company name out of their printer. I regretted time wasted, but I feel like learned something from this. I was dealing with a pawn shop afterall.

This place is a joke. The guy running the place is barely coherent and took over 30 minutes to tell me the item I was looking for wasnt there. The hours on the door mean nothing. They open whenever someone gets there and should be closed because Ive heard them tell numerous customers they have no money to offer on pawns. Worse thing is the poor dog that gets left outside for extended periods of time during the day. All because they cant run a business and open on time. There are dozens of other pawn shops, dont waste your time here.

Ive been here for FFL transfers twice. Theyve taken a bit longer than a normal kitchen table FFL, but its a pawn shop that has more steps involved due to the nature of their main business. Kenny has been excellent to do business with.

I happened to run across an electric guitar these folks had listed on Craigslist so I stopped in to check it out. I was initially going to use their layaway plan to purchase it (a great thing in and of itself), but asked if I could make a “cash in hand” offer and they accepted. I got this thing home, polished it up, put new strings on it and it looks AMAZING. A 9.5 out of 10 guitar for me, and a 5 Star Google review for Platinum Pawn. Very satisfied customer.

I dont know how they are for people who want to sell things, but they are great if youre in the market for some used merchandise. Not a huge selection, but good prices, clean, and nice people. Far better than the place next door! They have a lot of available on so-and-such a date pawns, so youll have a better experience if youre willing to wait a couple of days/weeks for what you need. Definitely will be coming back.

Today, 16 July 2015, i went to Platinum Pawn to see what they had and was shocked when i walked in. Everyone there had excellent customer service skills, also excellent and outstanding employees which engaged me as i walked into the store with the proper greeting of the day. Open signs been on for almost two hours the doors still locked, the phone must not be working. Had package shipped here for ffl so far terrible experience.

Liers and thieves. I came there on March 25, 2019 with an item to pawn I brought from a different pawn shop for 250$ and they told me the best they could do was 100$. After looking on Google and ebay i couldnt find this item for less the 250$, 500$ out of box. Dont waste your time.

They are open later during the week than any of the other pawn shops and chains. They are a lot quicker to do a loan and not as much waiting as other chains make you do. Same interest rates as everywhere else so if you need a loan, especially at 8 something at night, this is the place to go. I get paid monthly and would be in a bad place if these people werent around.

Did my concealed permit license class here. I had done the class 10 years ago, but never submitted the package. After the string of crazies popping up all over, and the talk of gun control, I retook the course, and went through the whole process. The instructor is excepcional. I’m an 8 year military veteran, and in my 42 years have been around guns at least 35 years . There was a lot I didn’t know. And bad habits I thought were proper, where he quickly showed me how vulnerable the technique actually was. This wasn’t a give me your money, take this booklet, sit and listen, here’s your certificate kind of course. Not saying he’ll fail you, but certainly won’t let you go till you pass. The instructor is highly acclaimed and certified with all of the state, local and federal accreditation’s, as well as a former military weapons trainer. Many people prefer the sign up, pay, and go course, which is ok for maybe work or school. I advise to take this course, and actually learn offensive as well as defensive tactics that can not only save your life, but your loved ones as well. He also goes over legal statutes, and debunks many false beliefs people have on gun laws and gun rights. Finally, the classes are usually small, so it’s on a personal level. Very hands on, interactive and fun. So the info retention is greater. Check it out, highly recommended.

Platinum Pawn associates were courteous and attentive, They gave me multiple options that were fair and affordable so I could get the money that I needed and afford to get my merchandise I pawned back as well. I will only pawn with them when I am in Tampa because they have valued service and a company I can trust.

I read all the great reviews for this pawn shop. What a crock! I took a brand new $300.00 guitar to them, along with a beautiful large Case Bowie Knife that is at least 40 years old. They would only offer me $75.00 for the guitar, knowing full well that they would get at least $200.00 for it. Even worse, instead of really checking the knife out, they spotted an ebay sale for $25.00, and offered me that knowing that the knife is worth a lot more than that. I found at least 10 other places online that the exact same knife and case were selling for $160.00 or more, and most of those were not in as good of shape as mine. I will not go to them again!

Have been coming to this pawn shop for about a year and every time I visit the staff is super nice and helpful! Unlike other pawn shops this one has great stuff, pricing and the shop itself is kept clean and organized, they dont have clutter.

This is to the post that Brian Rogers made: its sad that you didnt even explain what happened when you came into the store. See Brian sold us a gold chain, then a few hours later he called and said he found a place in st.pete that would pay him more for the chain. Brian wanted to get his chain back, company policy is once a buy transaction is complete and customer leaves the store with money in hand, that transaction is done, we did ask Brian if he wanted to get a loan on the chain, with a loan Brian has the option to get his chain back, he declined. Brian accepted the offer given to him for the chain. No wrong was done, no dishonesty, none of that happened. Brian sold us his gold chain period. So if your going to post something about this awesome Pawn Shop, PLEASE make sure you tell the whole story, NOT just the part of the story. It can be misleading like Brians post was.thank you :-)

Most of the staff are clueless about firearms. Its no wonder they offer a cheaper FFL transfer fee. What should take 5-15 mins takes hours, if not days.Their gun selection is extremely poor, so if I could suggest anything, spend an extra 5$ on the background fee, and deal with people who know about guns. Not just hourly employees who know sales tactics and can read boxes ..... hopefully.If you want some ghetto jewelry, stop on by!If you want to do ANYTHING with GUNS, TAKE YOUR BIZ ELSEWHERE !!!
