Rude receptionist - to the point she made the decision easy to not use this business.

When I went to see if they could work on my vehicle the receptionist was very rude and argumentative. She asked me why I hadnt tried Zekes Auto supply before I went there. She then began to act like I was bothering her. She just lost a $3,000 lift kit job for me for her business.

90$ to check my check engine light. The secretary pushed to have them check the light Even though I have my own code reader and told them exactly what they ended up doing to fix my truck. Never have these people check your engine light. Go to orielys and have them check the engine lights for free, then call and tell them what to do. That’s an absurd charge for something that takes 5-10 mins. Absolutely not coming back. I’d rather drive to Sante fe and spend that 100$ in gas than a BS charge.That’s horrible!!! You guys are greedy!!

Great shop, they do excellent work. They don’t cut corners and tell you the truth. Great reputation. I have trusted them with my cars over the years.Competitive prices, busy place.

If you wont be needing your vehicle for weeks or even months this is a great place to get work done well at full but honest market price.

Miguel, Louis, and Louis were great. I got stuck with some issues outside of Taos and needed to get home. They got me in and out before lunch. If you are looking for someone to hold your hand and tell you everything will be alright, this isnt the place. But if you want the job done, they will get it done.

The only place we have our cars serviced, and when needed, repaired. I had a problem with my 03 4 Runners steering... Diagnosed once and the fix didnt take... The problem was more complicated than originally thought. They were unabashed, courteous, professional AND successful! All work was under original quote and 4 years later still runs great. Need a great mechanic, this is the place.

Really nice owner that cares about his customers. The employees I had dealt with gave me confidence in their ability to do solid work. I really trust them and would recommend getting all services and repairs done by them.

This shop was recommended by a friend who lives in Taos while we were visiting there. The check engine light came on in our car, and the owner checked it for us right away, helped us determine the cause, and did not charge us a penny. We were so grateful for his help because we had to drive back home that same day and we were reassured the car was safe to drive. The shop seemed like a busy and down-to-earth place with a generous owner who has integrity.

If you want your vehicle intentionally sabotaged - this place is guaranteed to do it for you.Yep, this shops owner Norbert, air hammered a hole in my vehicles rear differential when I brought it back to be repaired again, after he messed up the first time. (Click the photos link above to see what Im talking about.)If you have to know what happened the first time, he managed to change the wheel oil seal on the wrong side of the vehicle.When I pointed that out, he agreed to fix the issue, although he didnt sound too happy about it, and was clearly acting as if it was my fault in the first place.Luckily the hole he made wasnt effective enough to leak all of the oil out as Im guessing the result he was aiming for...The moral of the story, stay as far away from this place - unless your car could use some extra holes.

Took my car here to get an exhaust leak fixed and also have them check out why my check engine light came on. When I called initially I was very clear about the exhaust leak. That was my main concern at the time. My entire reason for calling. I left my car with them and then received a call the next day about the progress. I was told that my check engine light came on because of the thermostat. I asked them to just go ahead and fix that as well because it was already there being serviced for the exhaust leak. He told me it would be $350 for everything. I double and triple checked that he meant everything as in the exhaust leak and the thermostat. He said yes BOTH issues would be fixed. When I picked up my car today and paid the $350 I discovered that they hadn’t even touched my exhaust leak. It was still not fixed. The $350 was just for the thermostat after all. Even though I made extra sure to verify that the exhaust leak would be fixed. The service that was done for the thermostat was great. No complaints there. Unfortunately, the main reason I brought my car here in the first place was to fix the exhaust leak, and after $350 and 4 days without my car I still have an exhaust leak. Make sure you are EXTRA CLEAR with what you’d like them to do before you leave your car here.

I have been really happy with the service that I have received here. Everything is just a tad more expensive in Taos. But if you want reliability, definitely they are reliable. And I guess thats the most important thing.

If I could give zero stars we would. We were loyal customers for years at this shop but will not recommend or return to Taos Offroad Performance in Taos ever again. They will cut corners on vital connectors to prevent soil and water from entering steering components, and they will try to charge you for work they did not perform. We brought our car in for a simple diagnostic of the cooling system and told them NOT to perform any repairs until we received an itemized quote for possible repairs.For a full business day they kept the vehicle and did minimal diagnostics before trying to tell us that they performed numerous repairs on the cooling fan, switch, and relay. We had not authorized any repairs yet as we were debating on if the car was worth keeping or not.Upon further inspection it is clear that they never touched the temperature switch, which they said they replaced. When we confronted them regarding the unauthorized repairs the owner was dismissive, rude, and lied numerous times about the work they performed.Do yourself a favor and dont waste your time or money at Taos Offroad Performance.
