Best Breakfast Joint Ive been at in Teaneck, NJ!! I had the wonderfully fresh Blueberry Bagel toasted with butter and jelly, than Pomegranate Tea! Great customer service, so well, I tipped and even bought a larger tea. I came back to this place after I got a freshly baked everything bagel toasted with butter and jelly. All the employees are welcoming and professional!!!!

Owner, Mr Cosmo is super nice, bagels were great, my breakfast bagel was huge. Really good place, will come again ! I am not from the NJ or NY came to visit family and was taken here. Mr C and his friend made me feel like I had been a customer for years. This is the kind of place I think about when I think of neighborhood joints. I have read the reviews and can not believe the low star ratings. Can not wait to come back.

This place is one of the best bagel shops in Northern New Jersey. The bagels are the perfect amount of chewy and firm, and they taste so fresh. They have a good number of spreads, but if that doesnt interest you make sure you get a bagel sandwich like a BOBO or HOBO (thats a sandwich with eggs, bacon cheese and hash browns or a similar sandwich with ham)...delicious!

Mr.Cosmo is a nice guy but his staff is not. Ive been here 4 times and I tried to give them the benefit of doubt. The bagels are rubbery and if you order eggs with any meat it will be big and sloppy. I was in today and and asked if he can make me a smaller sandwich and mr. Cosmo kept insisting that he only makes it one way. I dont know if he thinks that i was looking for a discount but i wasnt. Ill pay full price, I simply wanted a smaller sandwich. He made me an under cooked big sloppy sandwich that i threw in the garbage. I will never go back!!

I usually frequent this place at least once per month, but I will not be returning. I stopped by for my usual bagel with cream cheese, and the old man was completely rude to me. Like unbelievable. Though I was talking on my phone, I was present and friendly upon entering and ordering. To my surprise, after being asked what else I wanted with my bagel, and responding “coffee”, the old man proceeds to tell me that I can’t have coffee if I’m on my phone. So I replied “then I won’t have coffee, just the bagel.” While explaining your my friend on the phone what happened, the old man became very nasty and down right mean. I replied that I no longer wanted the bagel, and proceeded to leave the establishment. As I was leaving, the old man began to yell some pretty rude and unbelievable comments about me. I can’t believe he’s been in business this long. They are way over priced for average food and an untidy restaurant. Take your chances elsewhere.

Food is great heart stopper and hangover food. service no so much and cleanliness and adherence to social distancing non existence..... So if u want to fear for ur health and safety while someone attempting to kinda sorta listen cooks stuff u dont want (because they dont listen) and then pay just more than u feel it should be priced for said unwanted food then three Star bagel is the place for you really wish it was the way things used to be but it isnt and horrible service and the fear of disgusting germs in such a small place I cannot go back ever again until I know change is made. But by going by the old man that owns it/always there nothing going to change.....

To tell the truth I had hi hopes entering Three Star Bagel. it looked like and old bagel spot that has been there for years. I felt s though it needed a good cleaning and reduce the clutter. I saw the boiling pot to make the bagels the good old fashioned way. I purchased a couple of plain bagels to do a taste test. They were boiled and hand rolled. Unfortunately the flavor was not there. Good but pretty close to plain bread. Plenty of bagel stores inTeaneck on to the next one.

This place is way over priced. The staff is nice but the food is not worth it. I paid 29.00 for 2 regular breakfast meals which consisted of 2 scrambled eggs toast and bacon. That’s insane. Not to mention they serve the food on paper plates, like the .99 cents store kind of paper plates. So all of the grease from the bacon seeped through our plates and I had to be careful I wasn’t eating paper. I was so annoyed. I’m a Teaneck resident and I usually go to the spot a few doors down from this place but they were closed. I’m not a cheapskate but I know when I’m being ripped off. This man charges a whole 2.00 to add cheese to your eggs. That place is always empty and now I understand why...It’s unreal. Never again.

It is hard to give one star but in this case more than deserved. It began months ago when I went there and tried to double cup my coffee. The old man at the counter was beyond rude yelling at me like I was caught shoplifting. He made a big scene and then tried to charge me .75 for the cup. I simply gave him back the cup. He continued to be rude even after that. I decided not to post back then as I figured perhaps he was just having a bad day. Well after that I have been back 3 times since (today being the third visit). Today the same old guy who owns the place was again rude to me. He yelled at me because he didnt feel I was paying him fast enough. When I say yell at me I really mean it. He used obscenity and was just a total jerk again. This place puts zero value on its customers. I explained to him that I was diagnosed that morning with lost vision and was simply texting to my surgeon to arrange for surgery to hopefully repair my eye and he doubled down on his insults and cursing. This old man deserves to be out of business. Total jerk. If you value the way that businesses treat their customers avoid this place at all cost. Horrible owner.

The worst customer service!!!!! The old man who was there Sunday morning owner or not. My friends and I enjoyed our prayer service and I went to join them for bagels. I didn’t get anything because I already ate. Four friends purchased bagels and coffee. The old man said if I didn’t leave he would call the police because I didn’t purchase anything. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had. There wasn’t anyone waiting for a seat or anything! None of us will be returning to this nasty, dirty and lowlife shop. Ive been going to this place for years. Its a fixture in the neighborhood. And they make great hand-rolled bagels. I grew up in NYC, and having spent extensive time in most of the boroughs (except for SI). I know that there are quite a few bagel styles. 3 star likes to fully proof their bagels to have the flavor and crumb develop. Anyone who says that their bagels are not good knows nothing about bagels (perhaps they only like underproofed rock hard bagels, or the machine made bagels with the tell-tale polka-dot pattern at the bottom?)Aside from the bagels, they also make great sandwiches, and other dishes, Try their HAND-CARVED ROAST TURKEY hero -- yes they roast a turkey, carve it out, and make sandwiches from it. Also try their smoked salmon -- they move a lot of it, so youre guaranteed to get fresh, paper thin, translucent slices that are amazing. A far cry from the store-bought, shrinkwrapped junk.

Review №28

As per my previous bagel shop review, I am serious when it comes to bagels. Im a native New Yorker born and raised to appreciate a great bagel. I have nearly half a century of bagel noshing under my belt and when I tell you that this was the Best everything bagel with chicken salad (toasted) I have ever eaten please know that I mean it. The bagel itself was toasted with a slight crunch and was generously hugged with everything seasoning, the center bread was so soft that it melted in my mouth. This bagel was made to perfection. The chicken salad was a whole other celebration! The right amount of mayo, seasoning, fresh generous portions of white meat chicken and omg celery! The chicken salad is so delicious that I had to pause and rethink whether or not I had given thanks. Then there was the plain bagel with walnut/raisin spread - uhm do I have to explain, rather lets just say that this combo satisfied every morning desire in every bite. The bagel although plain has a distinct taste that screamed old time NYC deli. The spread was perfect in texture with the right amount of walnuts, honey to raisins ratio. Adding to the sweet was that necessary cream cheese smooth tartness that never stopped giving with each mouthful. The 3rd sandwich was a classic sausage, egg and cheese (SEC) on a roll. I get this sandwich all the time in various NYC corner bodegas but after trying this one I now wonder if Ive ever really had one. The eggs were freshly scrambled aesthetically layered and topped with expertly melted cheese, the sausage patty was then placed creating a perfect fusion of sausage egg and cheese nirvana. This SEC quite possibly has ruined all other SEC for me. Absolute perfection. We also tried a fudge crumb cake, it appeared to be very dense but upon tasting it I was surprised when the center (filled with dark chocolate) actually melted in my mouth! Im not too big of a fan of sweets and this treat didnt change me. It was good, but didnt stand out. The service was A1 the guy who served me was pleasant and very welcoming and definitely knew how to make a sandwich. The older gentleman was kind enough to make us 2 coffees (light sweet with creamer) I usually drink my coffee black with 1 sugar but boy was I satisfied with my coffee, nice and strong with the perfect amount of cream and sugar. I highly recommend this place, in fact I suggest you go out of your way as this place is well worth it.

Owner is capable of being nice but struggles with he has bad temper and can be irrational and abusive to customers. I never question the charges but I thought I got over charged. Error happen. in no way did I think it was done on purpose. But the fact that I questioned it was enough to be treated badly by one of his workers. He actually said If I were you I would just not come back if you feel you are being overcharged. Without the owner knowing what I was asking he got mad and was sooo rude in his rude workers defense. Ive seen him mistreat other customers but until it happens to you... The food is average, not out of the ordinary. It works because on Cedar Lane there arent many options, but you dont need to go far to get good bagels with GOOD service. There are certainly plenty of places Id rather give my business to.

Bagel was OK but VERY expensive. $7.43 for a bagel with bacon egg and cheese is outrageous. When I questioned the price the worker was rude and stated that the prices are on the wall. I wont be back. There are far better places to get bagels at reasonable prices. Plus after reading the other reviews it seems the owner doesnt care. Its OK though Im sure he will be out of business in no time with this poor customer service and ridiculous prices.

The Owner is unprofessional and rude to customers and does not care about making them satisfied. The Owner is very rude and disrespectful to his customers. I have been a loyal customer for many years, unfortunately the owner has no appreciation for that. I made an order, there a was misunderstanding, as their menu and prices are very unclear. When I calmly explained that the order was not what I wanted, and asked to change the order to something else, the owner rudely interrupted stating we dont make 2 dollar sandwiches here! I never asked for a 2$ sandwich, I just wanted to change the incorrect order. He refused to help me and was extremely unprofessional. In addition, the bagels lately havent been the freshest and clearly they do not take constructive criticism very well. Steer clear of this place, who needs such a headache first thing in the morning. The bagels and their food prep practices are not the most sanitary and their menu and pricing is confusing and deceptive. You would think that businesses (especially in a suffering business district such as Cedar Lane) that owners would appreciate loyalty and value their customers.

Possibly racist owner... Beware! This past Friday, I paid $8 for a bagel with cheese and salami, kinda pricey. After 60 minutes of sitting while doing homework and eating my bagel, I was asked to leave because we usually only let customers sit for 30 minutes the place was nearly empty, I wasnt being loud at all and he kicked me out for a reason I still dont understand. He attacked my character and said I had a personal problem for takin it personal when all I did was calmly question why I was being asked to leave. If the place were crowded, or if I was being obnoxious or disrespectful, Id understand his asking me to leave, but none of that happened. I am not one to pull the race card but his prejudice was for a reason, and all logical ones having been eliminated, what conclusion am I left to draw?

I personally watched the owner of this establishment kick someone out and threaten to call the police because although she was sitting at a table with numerous people who had made purchases, she herself did not purchase anything. He did not suggest she buy a cup of tea or something similar, instead he said if she didnt spend at least three to five dollars he was going to call the police. He said he didnt give a damn about reviews or receiving business from anyone sitting with her. His nastiness was unprovoked and unnecessary.

Owner is nasty - actually yelled at me and spoke to me in a very condescending voice in front of my 6 year old daughter for asking another employee to help me when the first employee who took my order got busy helping their previous customer who needed something else. After five minutes watching the employee who took my order do nothing with my order because they were busy helping their previous customer, I asked for help from one of the other two employees who were not busy at the time (just waiting for new customers to come in). The owner got irrationally irate, getting himself all worked up and started yelling at me for no reason - saying that I cant ask someone else to help me other than who I placed my order with. I said I only did so because the first person got unexpectedly busy again with his previous customer and the person I asked was available and indeed happy to help me. He condescendingly said/yelled who do I think I am trying to run his business and then refused to serve me. This was all while I was holding my 6 year old daughter, not to mention in front of other customers. The employees mouthed sorry to me as I walked out and vowed never to return. My daughter got very upset from this experience asking why he was yelling at me, to which I said he must not have been feeling well but that is no excuse to treat anyone, especially a long time customer, so horribly.I can count with one hand the number of reviews I have made online. This experience was so disturbing that I felt compelled to write this. There are a lot of good bagel shops around this area. This place does not deserve your business. All of my family and friends refuse to go there after hearing this story. I urge you to do the same.
