Patrick is awesome! Very welcoming and very knowledgeable! Great personal experience. Gave us a tour of where they roast, what kind of beans they have and explained the Cortez history. AMAZING! DEFINITELY will be back. I tried a napal blend and a honey blend. Saturdays are for tastings!
Cortez Coffee company is an amazing coffee roaster and chocolate location. I have to say their chocolate is truly phenomenal if you’re anywhere in the area forget going to Starbucks and stop here get yourself a great espresso or a nitro cold brew grab some Mexican Ecuadorian and Dominican chocolate cocoa nibs and you’re never going to regret it
Once you try this coffee you won’t go back to what you’ve been purchasing. Patrick and Ron can give you a specific roast that matches your taste perfectly. Expect exceptional service and consideration when you come in and beans that will keep you coming back for more.
Excellent, friendly, extremely knowledgeable team at Cortez Coffee and Midge Chocolates. I especially LOVE the Timaná coffee. They ship across the US - check them out!
Farm to cup local coffee roster. Sells coffee, chocolate, and more! We love it.
Great selection of beautiful coffees. Some of the best roasted beans in Arizona, I highly recommend ordering online.
Fantastic fresh coffee. You can’t go wrong with the Primo! Great flavor and works great with my machine. Ron and his crew are good people. Support local.
I am amending my original review (below). After almost 3 weeks I finally received a response from the company. They apologized and refunded the whole order which was more than I was asking. I adjusted the rating from one star to four stars.Original Review:I had a subscription from Cortez Coffee for having coffee shipped to my house. I had been a very satisfied repeat customer until I received my last order at the end of December. I only received half of my order, and that part of the order was damaged. The shipping envelope was fine but the one pound bag of coffee had not been sealed properly and leaked out into the shipping envelope. The second bag of coffee was completely missing but was listed on the invoice and they charged me for the full two pound order. I followed the instructions on their web site for contacting them regarding problems with orders and sent them an e-mail. A week later after not getting a response I sent them another e-mail. (I sent emails to the two different addresses that had on their website.) Another week went by and no response from them. I cancelled my subscription last week and put down the reason for the cancellation. All I ever heard was crickets! I was only asking to be credited for the one bag of coffee that I didnt receive. I have since moved onto another coffee roaster. I am really disappointed with Cortez Coffee.
First time swinging by today. Great people, great products. It’s far for me, but I’ll definitely be back. Left with 4 bags of coffee & 2 bars of chocolate. Primo is clean & easy drinking. The Tarrazu is a fuller flavor. The Cameroon Boyo I think is our favorite. It’s all good coffee.
Bought their Espresso Primo roast which is really nice. The man who helped me was very knowledgeable and kind. It feels good supporting a local roaster rather than buying beans from a big-brand roaster at the grocery store. I go to ASU and enjoy making coffee, so Ill definitely be back.
Cortez Coffee is the best coffee in Tempe. When I was a student at ASU, I would visit Ron’s shop every Saturday to sip some coffee and buy a bag to take home. Now that I live in New York, I can buy Cortez Coffee online, and have it shipped to my door. There’s no coffee like it, truly one of a kind. Would highly recommend for quality and shipping!
Nice little place that is more of a coffee wholesaler rather than a traditional coffee shop. The coffee is spectacular though. Many options to try and the gentlemen making them is cery knowledgeable. Quite nice and highly recommended. Id say you are better off just picking up beans for home brewing. The sitting area is small and gets smaller with each person that walks in. But very good coffee.
Great locally owned, freshly roasted coffee for much better prices than any online subscription. Go in person to talk to the knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Delicious coffee. Nice vibe and knowledgeable staff. Quiet space with strong wifi. Only thing is sometimes no one is in the front and you’ll have to get their attention at the back office/roasters.
Owner is very nice and polite. Coffee selection is top notch.
Wow! We just left this hidden gem and cannot wait to return. This company has set the standard for what a coffee company should be. We got a tour of their shop and the most excellent service from a beautiful barista (Ill get her name next time) who is obviously passionate about coffee and extremely knowledgeable about the product. Thank you so much to everyone at Cortez Coffee for raising the bar and for making our visit truly memorable. I highly recommend this place. Be sure to stop by and support your local business, they deserve it.
Absolutely Great Product, the Service It is Awesome and I had the opportunity to try the new chocolate....Im speechless. A tiny coffee spot with a Very unique Vibe!!
Have been buying most of my beans for about a year now and everything variety Ive tried has been top shelf. Friendly, knowledgeable folks that are passionate about coffee (and chocolate!)
The owner is knowledgeable and visiting his store is an interesting experience every time! His product is always top notch too!
It’s just a small bar, but the owner came out and asked us our taste preferences, and spent twenty minutes talking about coffee with us. He gave us a tour of the back where the build and repair roasters. Non-intrusive, just a fantastic, intimate coffee experience. The coffee was perfect, and this is my new favorite in the greater Phoenix area.
While they do have a small cafe, this store is primarily does business with wholesale bean distribution and working on brewing equipment. Went in on a whim to grab some coffee while out, and Patrick gave us a tour and enlightened us on several aspects of the brewing process. The coffee is absolutely delicious, and Patrick and Ron are both incredibly friendly. I definitely recommend.
Great place to buy whole bean coffee. Staff is very knowledgeable. The little bar area was not open when I went, but the guy working in the back still let me sample their cold brew they have on tap. He even filled a cup for the road... definitely worth a visit
When I walked in, I spoke to who Im guessing was the owner. He was extremely friendly. He showed me the different coffees they served and had the person who roasts their coffee explain to me the taste of each one. I chose the Costa Rica blend, and oh my, it was the best decision. This coffee has such an amazing flavor. These guys know coffee, I recommend them 100%.
Ive tried to many coffee shops that use Cortez beans, so it only made sense to try it from the origin!Cortez Coffee actually just had a street market this past Saturday. It was small this week - a food truck with killer tacos, a stand with a raffle, and amazing coffee inside. The owner, Ron Cortez, was there, and he is such a funny,
Danny fixed our home espresso machine. I found the timing and cost to be very reasonable. Very friendly, family run business. He gave us a bag of coffee beans with the repair and we purchased two other bags. Excellent coffee!
The service here is not the greatest.
Bought a blend and single origin now and both were excellent. They bring you to the roasting room to choose your coffee so there’s this great behind the scenes feel when you’re there. Highly recommended.
Must go place if you are a locally roasted coffee lover. Various selections of beans and even roasted cacao! Excellent job Cortez! Thanks for the tour as well...
Quality. 5-star operation hands down. You wont be disappointed.
Excellent coffee. Excellent selection. Excellent customer service! They are my go-to source for green coffee. All the more impressive is their support for other local businesses. Last time I was in, Larry Jarvey with Provision Coffee Co was there using their bulk roasters. Ron Cortez is as personable, knowledgeable and passionate about coffee as they come.
Some of the best coffee in the world right here in Tempe, AZ. I have been drinking Cortez Coffee for years. There is a great selection and variety of high quality coffee and tea there. If you are a coffee and tea snob like me this is the place for you. Also, very knowledgeable about roasting and the coffee business as well.
If you are truly looking for quality coffee you got to check this place out. By far the best roasters in Tempe, if not all of Arizona. Primo!
Hands down the best coffee Ive had in the states. This place is a gem, great coffee, great conversation, great people. Cant wait to return.
The perfect atmosphere for a great cupOf fresh brewed coffee. Thank you Ron and Amanda for showing us the coffee process including the roasting/grinding/and brewing.
Ron was such a knowledgeable man and had a great smile while we talked about his superior coffee...as we drank the most delectable cup of coffee I have EVER HAD!! Thank you Ron! What a day😁😁😇😁
I came here last week while I was visiting Phoenix and absolutely loved it. I spoke with a gentleman that was explaining where they get green beans and their process for roasting. In fact, he gave me their Primo Espresso blend that was fresh out of the cooling tray. Furthermore, they gave me a discount because this was my first time at the shop. This is a must stop for me now when I come to Phoenix!
Amazing roasting company, great place to pick up a couple pounds of single origin coffees and chocolate!
MMMM :) This place just makes me happy. Owner is very friendly and even gave me a box to ship the coffee I bought to a friend. Bags of coffee are a little expensive but its great quality and tastes amazing!
This place is awesome and the guys are super friendly. Ill be going to them for all of my coffee bean needs!
Phenomenal coffee. If you like coffee then look no further. Period.
Amazing coffee, and equally amazing people.
Be aware, this is not a café, but a coffee roaster/wholesaler. They do offer classes, and it is kind of cool to pop in and look around.
Good selection of beans... knowledgeable baristas.
Some of the best coffee and service. Love how passionate the owner is about his craft.
Cortez Coffee is currently my favorite coffee in Arizona. They are known for their Costa Rican import, but I like their Mexican beans the most. Their nitro cold brew is a must try too!
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, reasonably priced, locally owned and GREAT coffee!
Love this place. I can get green coffee beans to roast at home.
They are not the cheapest, and theyre not trying to be. they are trying to be consistently the best. and they are.
Was there a few months back before moving out of Tempe, was an awesome experience. When I walked in the owner gave my friends and I a complete tour of the roasting facilities, showing us the stock of roasted and unroasted beans. He also answered all of our coffee related questions, even those we didnt know to ask (he introduced us to the sock brewing method, which he had apparently learned while in Brazil). Unfortunately the day we went they had a huge online order and only had dark roast in stock. Normally I dont like a dark roast, but I tried it anyways since I figured it was better than getting bargain brand from Wal-mart. After putting the beans through my Aeropress, I was happily enjoying the best cup of coffee I have ever tasted. Also, for those who frequent Solo Cafe (best coffee house in Tempe!) youll be happy to know that this is where they get their beans. Beans were going for $12 a pound, however since dark was the only roast on hand they gave me a $2 discount. Also the selection of brewing equipment is better than most local stores.
Very friendly staff and well sourced beans!
I really enjoy the ambience.
The best coffee spot in Tempe
Super friendly and patient on the phone.
Awesome place and great people!!
The best
