I love 99 cents but did you know 99 Cents Only Stores is an American price-point retailer chain based in Commerce, California. Previously, the store offered all products at 99¢ or less.[2] Most products are still priced at 99¢ or less, but some products are now sold at a higher price. Founded by Dave Gold in 1982, there are stores located in California, Arizona, Nevada, and Texas. The company also operates Bargain Wholesale, which sells wholesale to retailers across the United States and exports to more than 15 countries from showrooms in Los Angeles. It also exhibits at trade shows in Las Vegas and Chicago.in 2021 in California the 99¢ only stores change its name and logo to the 99 store removing the ¢ sign and the word only from its logo 99 Cents Only Stores dates back to the 1960s when the company’s founder, Dave Gold, inherited a tiny liquor store in downtown Los Angeles and decided to run a test by selling bottles of wine at a fixed price-point of 99 cents. The test was an instant success, and Dave thought that selling everything in the store for 99 cents would be hugely popular.Whenever Id put wine or cheese on sale for $1.02 or 98 cents, it never sold out, Gold said in a 2001 interview with The Los Angeles Times. When I put a 99 cent sign on anything, it was gone in no time. I realized it was a magic number.[3]On a “lucky” Friday, August 13, 1982, Dave and Sherry Gold opened the first 99 Cents Only Store in Los Angeles. To celebrate the Grand Opening, Dave decided to sell television sets for only 99 cents to the store’s first 13 Families. More than 300 people showed up to stand in line and wait for the store to open. The huge line caught the media’s attention, and more than 10 TV outlets covered the store’s first day. The success of this first grand opening inspired a tradition, with new stores continuing for years to offer 99-cent deals for televisions and other products.
I can always find stuff to buy at the 99 cent store.
Small store, sometime aisle are block with boxes. Fruit and vegetables section need decent lighting, or better shelving, they look dirty and unappealing. I guess thats not their main sale. Some choices of small appliances, tableware, and limited option on stationary. You can find nice planters, like the owl on photos, and bargain choices on celebrations / novelty items. Shelves sometimes empty. Staffs are friendly.
I love this place, you can find great stuff at a very good price
Always very organized and stocked fully, I always can find what Im looking for when I come to this location. Ive been to other locations where they are extremely messy and the employees look like they could care less, at this location the employees are very helpful and kind
A little cramped but a lot of cool and useful stuff. Very cheap too
Great prices and location. Employees are always curtious. Always something new and great holiday decorations.
99 cent store has select items you may need for a dollar or few. Can be super busy sometimes but they usually open another register sometimes two to compensate
Well I live nearby and the store is very small and I have experienced the employees get the good items which are limited to the store bc its small, so the customer is out of luck almost always. And they put aside the merchandise for themselves.
The store is small compare from the other 99cents store Ive been.
They didnt have bird seed but they do have turtle food and fish food. They carry starter kits for whomever is interested.
Fair price, nothing can compare them, alot of veriaty
Very helpful the employees were expecily this one young male employee even went out of his was to help me find candles and walked me to the bathroom lol the store was clean and the bathroom as well
Friendly, helpful employees
Its not bad Arcadia location is really stepping up their game more staff more products!
Kind of dirty and only come here if you are low on money
Nice people both friendly and helpful.
Small and cramped. You have to go backwards past register and waiting patrons to exit.
The people were so polite it was nice shopping and there were no homeless love it
They need more bottled water selection...
For me, this is a good place for many things that are useful. I appreciate this store.
Wow! It has been way too long since I visited a 99 Cents Only Store and I must say it is definitely to my detriment! On this first time back, I was looking for a glue gun, glue sticks, and bobby pins. I was able to also find some treasures I couldn’t live without: little plastic hooks with sticky pads on the back to stick on the side of a dresser to hang a beginning hat collection, a package of S hooks to hold small baskets of hair accessories on a towel bar mounted on each side of a shared children’s bedroom, and a package of 3 pairs of no-show socks that I wanted to try out to see if I liked them. I’m planning to go back for more S hooks so I can do similar hanger for potholders in my kitchen!!! Don’t be like me and forget about the incredible savings to be had at the 99 Cents Only Store!
Really nice and cozy 99 cents store location. Its a bit smaller than the ones Ive been to, but has all the essentials and even a big produce and refrigerated section despite its size. The couple of workers there were very polite and checked in if I needed anything. Would probably visit again if in the area.
I love the 99¢ store. Everything used to just be 99¢ but now they have started to carry more items at higher prices as far as I can tell these items are all still a really good price. Most items are $1 or under still.
A lot of stuff to buy . Parking out front on street is easier access. The rear parking is good but crowded and a ramp inside to get into the store which I feel is a bit steep. There is a hand rail. Carts are inside.Employees are nice
Love this store! The store is always well stocked, very clean, great variety of everyday merchandise as well as new merchandise. The staff is WONDERFUL. They are friendly & always greet you with a smile. This is my favorite 99 cent store.
Cheap stuff and now they have more options for 1.99 for bigger stuff you need! I like coming here for groceries too. Small portions for cooking for myself. Save so much money buying smaller portions for cheap groceries. Produces, salads and fruits . Great customer service. Friendly employees.
A lot of stuff, I only go for a battery, end up buy 12 items.
Always the same cashier shes always cheerfully and says hello as you walk through the door. Theres always great deals and good finds. I love going there
Come here every so often to look for things for work, or just to see if theres anything I might possibly need that I didnt know I needed before I set foot inside. Sometimes you can really find gems here! Hours are pretty good, store is fairly organized - parking gets really hectic when its during after school hours!
The lady at the checkout counter was rude.
Horrible customer service. First and last time here.
I love shopping here to. Nice people.always want to help you. Its clean inside. They do need to clean the parking lot .the last time I was there there was trash everyday.I go there every week.
Kinda small but customer service was good
Great quality group of workers
The women that checked me out, was very rude and as far as am concerned, she lacks ediquet. Seem to me she only was being polite to people that spoke Spanish. I said good morning when I first got there and said thank you before leaving, and she just gave me a dirty look and still didnt respond. If that isnt races???
Neat. There are stuff that I think I should check here before other places. I go there may be once a year. I see lot of crowd.
Good sized store. Really cheap. 9 day return policy. Some items are over $1. Cheap and good vegetables and fruit.
Rip off and not good service
Great selection of items here compared with other locations. My go to store. Excellent options for produce.
A good small 99 Cent store serving the local community with miscellaneous goods and a limited supply of fresh foods.
Great store
This 99 cent store is smaller than the others sometimes thats very nice I have went there for over 20 years and its a good store to go to
Can usually find something really good and useful for 99 cents if you take the time to browse. Clean store and one of the cashiers is super friendly and happy.
Just one of the better 99 Cent Stores in San Gabriel area I wouldnt go here for the vegetables because usually there on Wilton side and far past their Prime would not buy their plant cuz by the time you get them home theyll be dead but if you look into a little knick-knack thing the cheap price Asbury place to go to and get better prices on sodas and candy and chips at your local grocery store then you can get that the 99 cent store. The manager and checkers are very accommodating and friendly but most of them do not know where most of the products are down the aisle theyll point you in the direction that theyre hoping theyre in but its up to you to find your item that youre looking for in this place.
I really like 99 cent stores but this one was messy & very crowded. The produce looked like it should have been tossed a few days ago & the entire area smelled bad. I will not return to this particular store
Good store👍
This 99 Cents store is really small & gets crowded when there are customers.
Nice little place full of many nice things at a very nice price. Love it (: (:
Staff friendly. Parking was also good. One stop shopping love it.
Great prices for most items! Cheaper alternative than the supermarkets byfar for the same items.
Great place to shop. Alot of great stuff for an amazing price!
Front Door is not Available, making it inconvenient if you are a Pedestrian.
A smaller store, but its next to the Tae Kwan Do school my son goes to. While waiting, its nice to be able to pick up some inexpensive stuff like stationary, snacks, even some groceries. Not the fancy stuff though, I leave those for Traders Joe or Whole Foods, but where else can you get a bag of spinach salad or portobello mushrooms, asparagus, bag of potatoes, etc for 99cents!
Usually calmer than most 99 cents only stores.Parking is another story.
Bought sox elsewhere (way too tight for type II diabetics) @ $30-$40, bgt 4 pair @ 99cent store @ less than $4 & they are exactly what I needed (plus this store is right next to The Crest Lounge!).
It has fresh produce, a variety of staple items, bargain prices, items for all ages and cute novelty items for holidays.
Best price on bananas
This is a nice place for cheap products. Do not expect high quality, but stuff bought are decent.
Lots of items to choose from. My kitchen and bathroom are now fully functional.
This store is always stocked on good buys and the cashiers are friendly, professional and quick!
Smaller compared to other 99 cents stores, good prices, long wait to checkout
A customer restroom would be nice. Everything else was nice.
I always find more than I came in to shop for
Honestly one of the smallest 99¢ stores I’ve ever been to. The staff were okay and their selection of food and snacks was not the best.
I liked everything about my shopping day.
Quick emergency stop for anything I forget for a party. Easy in. Easy out
Surprisingly good items and variety for the price many times.
Small place, good findings and sometimes a little disorganized but ok, last mont i was there and forgot something by produce area, came back 5 minutes later and was gone, no one saw nothing and cashier wasnt nice (rude) when i ask just in case someone returned.
They were out of something I wanted and reordered the item for me.
Friendly staffs & products are also great 👍🏻👍🏻
Parking stinks here especially when the karate kids next door are in class. Relatively small compared to others Ive been to.
This is a smaller 99 Cent Store than the usual ones. The selection is not as good. Prices are 99 cent what else can you say.
Stop tracking my location you crazy communists
Just really small otherwise its fine
Store to small, and employees saw a group of teens dancing in and blocking an aisle and employees did absolutely nothing. Yes there were two employees watching. Wont be back. Will drive to Dollar tree. Its larger, cleaner and staff that cares.
Its one of those smaller 99 cent stores but they have everything you need and the cashiers are friendly
It is fun to shop here once in awhile for cheap items.
Ya can find stuff that come in handy
Nice and clean perfect for quick shopping
This 99 cent store is very depressing. Never any new items
All good, I have no complaints
This location has a wide variety of items. Parking is a bit tight at times.
Does not look organized. The staff is friendly.
Nice store with great customer service
Very accurate store name
Nice store people are very welcoming
Decent. They sell alcohol too,
Little store but you can find anything for last minute shopping
Crowded. Small store. Moderate checkout speed.
A lot of cheap items.big savings.
Never seem to have more than one cashier working.
I love the scarfs!
Great baby back ribs
Very very small store... but its only 99 c
Small store, not a big selection of items.
Long line, only one cash register open.
I had found everything that i need.
Got just what I wanted
