This store has really made great changes. Its clean, well stocked with fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, and hard to find pantry items. Lets talk about the cooked food......YOU MUST TRY IT!!! I had the Swedish meatball plate that came with a baked potato and sweet peas. They also had one with broccoli and cheese. The perfect amount of gravy on potato and meatballs. It was plenty of food, and the price was cheaper than a restaurant!!!!! They have a variety of cooked food, so try it all!!!! This is going to be my go to, if I need to pick up lunch or supper on the run.

I love this place. It may be a bit dated and doesnt have everything that HEB has but thats OK. Friendly staff, good prices and never too busy. The BBQ in the back, while not out of this world is good and quite reasonably priced and the ladies back there are just awesome.

These people rush at early morning deli to produce low cost breakfasts for school kids that would otherwise not be able to get properly fed. They should be recognized and saluted for their community role! The cleanest, best produce in town and always a great place to shop.

I went to Food King on 6th st in Texas City. It was awesome. They were well stocked and well staffed. It was very clean and great variety. Produce was abundant and fresh. Prices were comparable to other grocery stores. I was impressed.

I buy meats there, A little further to drive, but wouldnt go anywhere else. The stores always clean, the associates are very nice. The other thing that really needs mentioning is the front end. The checkers, sackers are very professional, respectful, and helpful. I would have given the store 5 stars but it seems management needs to stand back, watch what theyve taught, dont lose sight of being a mentor, and get back to what you taught your employees. There isnt one time that a manager acknowledged me or said hello. Not one time.

Managers are rude and don’t care about the customers experience or the fact that employees set false expectations. Apparently no one communicates at this store from shift to shift. I will no longer spend my hard earned money for my family of 5 here.

Love shopping here. Friendly staff, decent prices, and they carry items Kroger and HEB doesnt. We were craving fresh turkey wings and fresh turkey necks...did Kroger or HEB have them..NOPE..but Food King did!! They are cooking and my kitchen smells amazing. Have a pot of rice ready for them and the gravy.

The grocery store that is always bustling, one of the few grocery stores that have character, like the places of old! And the prices are GREAT, too! Also, I like the design of the cart because it is stylish. And one other thing, the product is fantastic, doesn’t taste like cardboard like the big box stores. You should visit this place because they have everything you need!

Ive been buying from the Texas City location for years. However I need to let people know how wonderful their inhouse bread is. Recently I was unable to get good hoagie and french bread from H.E B. So I went to my old stand by and there it was. NOT only fresh but better than anything I had bought before. Please pass this art down to the next baker. We are so happy. Thank you guys

I love going to foodking. Seems almost like family Every one is very friendly and is always helping if needed. I love the fresh meat and the associate Sam is very knowledgeable of meat cuts and always helps if I need more meat cut or if I have questions. I like chorizo usually purchase the Garcia he told me about another chorizo fresh made OMG ITS THE BEST. Oh cant forget the Managers they are ALL VERY POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL🙂🙌. GOOD LEADERS 👍. Been going to Food king for over 15yrs. The management has been the same for all this Time and for good reason. Food King is in a low income area and offers quality products for reasonable prices. The management keeps on top of any and all issues with customers and staff..

MUST STOP FOR SELECT MEAT CUTS!To be honest from the outside the place looks - well like it looks... But, they truly do have weekly specials on select meat cuts that are awesome. Also, youll find good deals on pantry items listed in circular... As a budget shopper, they remain a must-stop biweekly. The staff is polite as well- always a plus.

A little more expensive than HEB for certain things but the meat is higher quality and reasonably priced. I only gave 2 stars because my debit card never works there. Not a problem I have anywhere else.

They dont have everything here, but for what they do have it is usually good quality at a good price.Only thing Id say needs improvement is the chicken, it is very fatty. Id probably go somewhere else for chicken. They also dont have high protein slimfast, but offer every other option.They have really good unique deli options though. We really enjoy the sausage with cheese, and $.50 crackers. Their selection of ready to bake cookies is great, along with their beer.

I love this store

Our Ministry stop by to buy a few things and the manager came to tell us rudely that we had to move our vehicle off HIS curb because we parked on a parking space and a little on the curb to keep our dogs shaded and cool. He said it wasnt his problem that our dogs were out in the hot sun. Then both managers decided to ask us to leave and told us we were banned from shopping here.

This is my favorite grocery store if you want to get in and out quickly! The employees are super sweet and friendly except for the deli lady I had a terrible experience with her.

Will always pay an extra price for smaller local independent neighborhood stores/businesses. Love that I can get in/out w/out having to deal with huge crowds or kiosks set up trying to always sell me something. Plus this store has hard-to-find items, and stuff I havent seen in decades.

On Valentines day I had bought my groceries and walked to my car I noticed my phone was gone I went back indins to look at the cash register I was rang up at and it wasnt there neither did the cashier day that I left it I went back to the car and my dad went in and brought my phone back out to me all cracked up it wasnt that way before I went back in to speak to the manager and she looked at the cameras and siad I walked out with it HOW???she didnt even ask the cashier any questions and ik the cashier tried stealing my phone. SMH the getto

I like the convenience of having it close when I just need to pick up a few things, I wish they had a wider variety of healthy food but overall its my go to store.

A good store however they are pricey on several items ie . Milk is basically two dollars more than what you pay at HEB or Krogers . They usually have really good prices on there meats . But they have the Monopoly on this side of town . With no other competitors with in walking distance or driving eight ( 8 ) miles round trip to Krogers or HEB

I could smell alcohol from cashiers breath keep in mind he did have a mask on so just how intoxicated did he have to be its hard to believe that coworkers in store management have not addressed this seeing as its very apparent to the public and patrons of the store I know it was to me

This place has long and time consuming lines of customers. Employees conversate aloud about subjects, and using words that are inappropriate for children and customers. Employees talk fithy subject and language in presence of customers. Employees have gawked at my daughters and made us feel unwelcome, as if there were no rules, boundaries, or authority. I can go on and on with my 30 years of experience dealing with this Texas City store . Though I shop there rarely, due to time and location, without my family.

Some prices are really high but overall a good store.
