If I could give zero stars I would but that was not an option. Horrible customer service—In fact nonexistent would be better to describe their customer service. We live about a mile from Carlson. We just had three scoops of sand delivered for $40/scoop. They charged us $69 for delivery. When we got the delivery we realized that although we had requested scoops, they actually measure their sand in hoppers (how would we know that?) and we have less than we need for the job. Delivery driver says they’re not busy. So we immediately call and speak to the owner and ask for another two hoppers at $120 each, and if he will waive the delivery fee this time. He said absolutely not. 😲 Now, they were not busy, we were about to give them another $240 of our money, and we’ve been doing business with them for years. Giving our business to Simi Pacific Building Material. By the way, Simi Pacific is half the price. Bye-bye Carlson.

Best stones in town

I had the worst possible experience at Carlsons today. Ive had many. Im a 62 year woman and I asked for assistance in lifting large rocks to purchase. The elderly gentleman in the office told me that the section was self service and I would need to get a cart and load the rocks myself. I tried to lift the rocks and went and told him I couldnt lift them. I told him I would never shop at Carlsons again. Terrible service....zero stars for them. They do not treat women well. Simi here I come!!!

Went to Carlsons to get stepping stones and I WONT ever go back. Horrible customer service. Guy on Saturday showed us what we needed, but didnt want to help us because it was 3:30 and they were closing at 4. Not a big deal because we were still figuring out the patio design. Finalized our plan, so I went back today to pick up the stone without the husband. Nobody on the lot so I went in the office. Guy in the office told me Id just have to hang out and wait until somebody showed up to help me. Then he made a half effort to help, spotted a worker lumbering nearby, and said theres your guy. The worker he pointed out was the man who had quickly walked away from me when I first pulled up. I walked up to worker and asked if he worked there. He gave me a smart a$$ answer. I ignored the snark because I dont have time for it and told him what I needed. He said they didnt have it. I told him where it was on the back of the lot. He sighed and got on a lift to get it. He brought it down. Then he stood and looked at me helplessly while his coworker cut the screen off the pallet. I repeated my order. He started explaining to me how difficult it was for him to take pieces off of the pallet and put them into my vehicle. At this point Id had enough. Told him that Id find somewhere else to get the stone I need.

I love this place. Great ideas and all the materials to make it happen.

First time to visit Carlsons yesterday 5/28. I did not realize they closed at 5 pm, but arrived just a few minutes before 5. As I walked into the office a man walked past me, closed the door behind me and stated it was 5 and he was closed. I thought, silly me, I could ask a couple of questions but the gentleman who closed the door reminded me it was 5 and he was closed. I looked at it this way. If he wasnt willing to spend a couple of minutes with a potential new customer it was a good indication his customer service would be similar. Perhaps he had a long day. But I wont be back. You know what they say about first impressions.

I experienced the same in customer service- I shopped around the materials in the yard, found what I needed, priced it out, then drove to Home Depot and saved hundreds.... Between their delivery costs and mark up as well as customer service I wish them well.
