This place is terrible. All animals seemed to be underweight and dehydrated. They have a big monitor lizard whom I wish I could have taken home. Poor baby was having a terrible shed, she needs a good soak. She also had no food or water in the very small cage they had her in. She had no energy to lift her head. The rabbits kept going to their water bowls to find a very dry and dirty bowl, they also had no food. They had a dead and decaying tortoise in an enclosure. They have a chinchilla which also had no food or water, and also didnt have a place to take a dust bath in. The birds, they have about 50 finches in a tiny cage, some werent even able to fit in the two measly perches, they had to cling to the side of the cage. They have a parrot with a very overgrown beak, they have a toucan which was most likely wild caught and smuggled in (dont know for sure). What really irked me was the display counter which had about 10 different bearded dragons, the were fighting each other and had no proper heat lamps since its at the checkout counter. Very disappointed in this place, I never wanted to leave a place so bad.

Been going here since it was Bird Lovers in the 80s. Knowledgeable, helpful kind ... struggling towards end of pandemic, suppliers are having problems filling orders ... Im not cutting back or going anywhere else because I love these people and refuse to sacrifice quality. The birds are adjusting to more mom time and mom food

Im so thankful that finally, I was able to buy a puppy from them, and it was nice because the documents are complete. Everyone did a fantastic job! Keep up the good work!

Poorly treated animals. In no way shape or for should you pick up a lizard of any sorts and drop it on the concrete like an object! For a pet store the babies should be cared for not mistreated and traumatized. If they are will to mistreat the animals in that matter just imagine the poor health these babies are in, are they being fed properly, cared for, cleaned, appropriate housing? The list goes on and on if they cant even properly handle or respect the life of an animal how can we trust them. ANIMAL CRRULATY AT ITS PEAK!

Super disgusted in hearing about someone experience there, she asked to see a bearded dragon that they had there, he was all black because he was so stressed out. The lady picked him up by his tail and dropped him down about 3 feet right onto concrete. This is animal abuse. I’m also filing a report on this considering the owner won’t do anything about it. If they are doing this to little reptiles they are doing it to all animals. I’d advise you not to go here.

This is my go-to place for my bird! We come for grooming, supplies, and boarding. They really know so much about birds and we have learned so much from them.

Went there to have them keep my reptile while I went away,conditions where bad.The enclosure they put him in had lots of uncleaned poop and didn’t seem too suitable for my pet.I also noticed they had a very large snake in a very small tank.Also saw a dead tortoise that was sitting on top of a enclosure.I don’t know if it was for “decoration” or something weird.I’m sure some people and animals are well taken care of.

Called to get directions and the lady barely spoke English and couldn’t even give directions to the store. I asked for someone else to come to the phone to help me and she said that she didn’t have anybody else to talk to me. Got to the store and there were other employees! Needless to say she lied, what a useless person to be answering the phone. Horrible service!!!!!

My experience here with the animals was good but not the customer service. If that white cockatoo bird was running the store i might had a better experience. I came in noone greeted me for 10 min, blonde lady talking on the phone staring at me but no greet or ill be right with you. It was weird but i like to be alone so i was ok with that. When the worker came out she went over to help other people who came to pick up a cage. The customer didnt have a mask on and she didnt tell her to put it on either even tho thats their policy and to santize your hands. Apparently not for ALL customers only some. When i asked about the birds she was looking outside not paying hardly any attn to me! I have an african grey and i was serious about purchasing a bird but she thought i was just idk asking just to ask??? Tried to tell her a story about my bird and she walked away half way through. She told me two of the birds were permanent residents. I think they should take them home if they arent for sale. Look at this hilarious cool bird your not allow to buy! Really? Would have love to buy the african grey but i left because it was like pulling teeth getting info from that girl. Inwanted to know what sex the bird was and cost etc. Didnt bither tho. Ill go somewhere else. Cool animals though really enjoyed my time with them. Advice- not everyone is just asking qs to ask qs. Some people really are trying to buy something. Treat customers equally and make everyone wear a mask!3 stars for ..hi babbbbby bird and all the other cool animals.

Been here 4 times in the past 3 weeks - my new little pup has ALL she needs (and then some).. they helped explain which food and why was best for her, didnt push sales. Im SURE ill be back!

This place is excellent. They have awesome friendly, hand trained from birth, birds. If you like birds, and want one that didnt come from a bird mill, come here. Come here to have your birds cared for. Beak trimming etc is all done here. They sponsor a bird club for bird owners. Really nice and knowledgeable people work here. I love this place. Been coming here for years.

The best place for all your pets needs. Tommie has the best staff and the top groomer in all of southern la. Just love Augustin with my birds. Always thankful for his patience with kimber and pretty girl.

The employees are knowledgeable and I love their hours because we go there every weekend but arent always able to get there early in the morning. They always have neat new creatures and we are thinking of boarding are reptile in the future. We are so thankful for the shop.

Very cool shop we love all the parrots and birds in the bird room. There are some really intersting reptiles. I come here for the hopper mice at $1.90 for my snake to eat. There is good size meal worms and tomato worms as well. I will be back they even offer services to shave beak, nails of parrots and cut the flight feathers.

I love this store!! Ive been going to Animal Lovers to purchase pet supplies, toys & seed for my parrot, and getting beak & nail trims for him too, since my 2 children were small (25 years ago!). Tomi is very warm, personable & knowledgeable. Ive watched her lovingly hand feed baby parrots through the glass window in the bird room. The best pet store ever💜

Animal Lovers is a wonderful pet shop with a ton of fun and different critters, food, toys and supplies. I have been going there for well over 10 years and have learned so much from Tomi, Agustin and the rest of the folks there. My Amazon loves being boarded there when I travel and I’m happy knowing he’s happy while I’m gone.

Tomi is the owner and Augustine is awesome he really knows the animals and has been trimming my birds for almost 20 years now. He knows the customers, what they want and need and always makes sure the shop is ready and well stocked. They recently moved and the shop is beautiful, a lot of the work done by him to cut costs for the business. Hes a great employee, I dont know but hed be a great owner some day also. When you step inside, where they have birds for sale /small space on a right /, the stench, stink overwhelm you. No air. Many birds ill looking. I had been at that store many times, even when she had it at different location several years ago - it was even worse than, dark and she had other creatures like snakes then. Woman who owns it, Oriental never seemed to care about birds, just money they would bring her. She rarely at this store now but her own cockatoo is in there in a stink, poor bird.

We board our sun conure there occasionally. They take great care of her. Nice clean store & boarding area. The staff is always friendly & professional. Thank you!

This is a pro pet shop. They recently moved to a new location at the end of Anza at the bottom of Vista Montana. They board birds and have snakes, lizards, spiders and fish for sale. Their pet supplies are well stocked and they have feeder mice for my boy Rocky. The staff are experts and handle ask animals with skill. I have seen many bits get trimmed and buffed. Its amazing to see them work.

Specializes In Birds and probably the best in the south bay for beak and nail filing, wing trimming. And bath. Also Reptiles. Food for all pets stop by great pets.

Augustin is always helpful and insightful on how to take care of the different animals that I keep buying. Can’t wait to buy my African Grey so I can come to the bird meetings.

Every time I go in there, Agustin and the other guy are so helpful and knowledgeable. I always come back and get crickets even though its a bit far coming from Lawndale. Yet, I go there and I know that Ill be help in this location. Thanks to them, I know more about my scorpions and my turtles 🐢 and their habitat. Thank you for always being honest with your customers and being friendly to converse about the pet world.

Weve purchased and boarded all of our birds at Animal Lovers. Tomis new shop is much larger and better stocked. Theres even an indoor koi pond! Were moving out of the area soon and will really miss all the great Animal Lovers folks - and so will our parrot, Peabody!

Where very helpful and sold me the right equipment for my bearded dragon to be able to live longer. They pretty much saved my bearded dragons life.

If I could give them negative stars I would ...i Honestly couldnt believe What I heard when I just called ...so over the past month Ive had a sick wild lizard in my laundry Room Ive tried to nurse him back to health but it doesnt seem to be working with what Im doing..ive bought meal worms made it a little house for cover ect...i call pet lovers be cause everything online said to drop them off a pet store because of there environment the lizard should progress better faster...when I called basically the guy and the store are only in it for the money...they told me it would be $12 a night to,board the lizard ..after I told them that it was wild ...he said ya we dont have room for it...so just to see how much of an animal lover he was I suggested that I guess Ill just let the lizard die...the guy response was ya looks that thats what has to happen ...my jaw hit the floor and cant believe someone who works and manages a pet store would even let those words come out of his mouth...not even any references what to do or other places to drop the lizard off... honestly Im glad I didnt leave the lizard with them they probably would have thrown him or her away or just killed it by the response that came out of his mouth..i will def not be going there ever again and will be telling everybody not to do so as well.....Animals have lives to

The manager Agustin is amazing! He truly cares about the health and well-being of the animals in his care. He takes the time to listen and answer question I have regarding birds and reptiles. He is a great bird groomer who knows what hes doing and has years of experience handling birds. He can come off stern until you get to know him but he is really a funny charismatic guy with a huge heart for the animals. He takes pride in his work and maintaining a clean shop and work environment. The shop has supplies for dogs and cats but also stocks lots of bird toys and food choices. They also carry many rare and exotic animals and have supplies for the reptiles, fish and small animals as well. I feel that the prices are fair especially compared to national chain pet stores with a better variety of all natural or harder to find products. The selection is vast and they stock unique fake plants for the reptile cages that I cant find anywhere else! Tomi and Agustin truly care about the animals they sell and will provide you with all the knowledge you need to care for your new pet properly. I would highly recommend Agustins grooming service as he does birds, reptiles, and small animals daily and knows how to handle them so they dont get stressed out. My birds have a enjoyable grooming every 6 weeks and he is there from 10am-3pm Thursday through Sunday for the grooming service. I wouldnt trust anyone else with my feathered/fur babies. He also designs reptile/frog habitats and they replicate the animals natural habitat in the wild. Animal Lovers also sell used cages which is great when you are on a budget. They always have products to meet everyones individual needs for their critters. Overall it is a great pet shop and you will get personalized attention and so will your pets! In conclusion I will never go elsewhere when they provide all I need for my animals.

Been coming here for years for various supplies and have gotten a snake in the past which is healthy and was well taken care of at Animal Lovers. The times Ive been there Ive seen that the birds and reptiles are really taken care of. They seem healthy and I trust they are.

If I can give a negative review I would, my husband bought a cockatoo from them, they called him the prince of wails, for $400, a month before we bought two huge cages from somewhere else for $200 each, they sell those at their store for $400 each, also we bought three gouldian finches for $100 each, plus a big bag of bird food 25 pounds for $35.00 dollars.because we were going to travel for a while, my husband took all of them, the cockatoo, two new cages, 3 finches and the food to their store to be sold on consignment, and he was told that they will get him a good price, for all of them. we expected at least half of the over $1100.my husband went to the store over ten times, and each time he was told to come back at later dates to talk to the one who he dealt with, the owner Tomi Takemoto said she does not have any information.My husband left out of state, and I went to the store two weeks ago and I was told the same story, and when I demanded an answer, they called him on the phone, and they said that they could not get more than $100 or $150 for all the birds and the cages, over $1100 investment and they want to give me $100, I refused and I left the store, they are a rip-off, be aware they could deceive you being polite, but they are thieves.

They hardly have anything for fish and theres one guy there thats really annoying when you ask for frozen mice for your snake. We dont need a commentary about live vs frozen, dude. Just give me my product and take the money 🙄

Do NOT come here unless the owner is here. What kind of snake is this staff: I dont know. How much is it? Staff: I dont know. This went on for a while. I was even able to name a few snakes that the STAFF didnt know what they were. Not to mention the most upsetting encounter, when I came in and there was a huge snake that had BEEN dead and rotting, the staff took it out of its cage after I brought it to there attention and its guts fell out onto the floor, I dont think Ive ever smelled something so bad. And the staff sweared up and down that the snake was alive the day before. Animals dont start to decay that fast! It was very upsetting. Unprofessional. I suggest to the owners that you hire staff that actually know about animals!! You are called animal LOVERS after all. I knew more about reptiles than the staff and thats just sad.

Went to check the possiblity of purchase for a cockatoo Fell in love with one called Kimber. She stole my heart and was available for sale. The young man Augistine was very knowledgable about those in the bird room and was helpful in answering all my questions as well as others present. I am a bird lover always have been and found the disposition of Kimber to be pleasant. I also got a great bargain for the cage setup for Kimber to live in my home. Now we are getting to know one another and I have also found another fan of Lindsey Sterlings music as Kimber is rocking out to it right now! I would highly recommend this place if your on the lookout for the best birds in town. I used to use petco for all my bird needs....but this shop has the most friendly people, best selection and is now my go to place. Thank you Augistine and Marco for making this an awesome experience even for my niece Wendy who is not a true bird lover, but with Kimbers ease I think she just might like birds!!!

Very good and nice good cheap prices for the birds and there cages and I got a discount because I payed with cash. Bought two zebra finches for $30 and there cage for $20.

The shop owner truly loves animals and this is the only place I take my parrot for grooming and boarding.
