My 1st time at MoDo so donuts were a pleasant surprise. The donuts come out warm and toppings are fresh. Had the plain, milk sugar and strawberry with their foam dipping sauce. Except the plain, the donuts are mildly sweet and soft & chewy. Surprisingly the plain or no topping was my favorite along with the dipping sauce. The foam dipping sauce just adds another layer of sweetness that you dont really need. Its a good donut @ $2 each.
Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - the donuts themselves are great fresh or even after a few hours. It’s crispy on the outside and chewy inside. We got 3 to share and are considering if we can get them without flavoring on the topPandan: the almost neon green was a bit startling. It was overly sweet and we couldn’t really get the flavor over the sugarUbe: not too sweet but we wouldn’t have guessed the flavor just tasting without lookingBlack sesame: our favorite with a nutty and slightly savory flavor. Refreshing after the sweetness from the others. Highly recommend!Ambience: N/A - location was in the Mitsuwa food court. Fun to watch them make the fresh donuts!Service: 5/5 - cashier was super efficient and professional. Do note since they make the donuts fresh, expect around a 15 min wait once you place your order depending on how many are in line before youValue for price: 5/5 - comparable to specialty donut prices and worth it for the amazing chewy texture
Who wouldn’t love chewy little dough balls covered in a variety of tasty glazes?Modo makes the best mochi donuts in all of LA. The donuts have the perfect amount of fluff and chew. The glazes are flavorful but not too sweet. They fry and glaze every donut right on the spot, so you’re always getting fresh donuts. So glad I don’t have to go all the way to Hawaii to try these! (I still wanna go to Hawaii, though T.T)
Located inside Mitsuwa. Large free parking lot. I arrived before 10am expecting a line for opening, but I was the only one in line. Though folks started showing up immediately after opening time. The mochi donuts are SO GOOD! Made hot and fresh when you order. Best to eat them while theyre warm because they practically melt in your mouth with a delicately crispy exterior that gets lost when they cool. We tried pandan, black sesame, strawberry, blueberry, and honeydew sugar. All the flavors were excellent- especially the honeydew which tasted like freshly cut fruit. Not too sweet. The sugar toppings are dairy free and the other ones are white chocolate based and so they contain a little dairy, but you cant taste the white chocolate. All the donuts contain egg.
Really good Mochi Donuts! Not as sweet as some of the other places in LA, which I really like.
Donuts were great. They really need to work on their system. When I ordered the girl at counter told me that it was a 15 minute wait. Sounds good, I’ll shop around and order lunch. Fast forward to 30 minutes later, finished shopping, picked up lunch, donuts were not ready. Fine, I see the person ahead of me was still there so I’ll wait. 15 more minutes later, the person that was in front of me ordering had picked up her order, I delightfully waited for mine. Another 15 minutes later, the person I saw ordering as I waited 15 minutes ago is picking up their order. So where was mine?? I have now waited 1 hour for you to lose my order and I have to get in your face about it. I don’t like that. Please work on your ordering and pickup system, its terrible, you have so many people in the kitchen area, so social distance is not kept and you can’t get the order right. There are cheaper and better mochi donut in Torrance that don’t have the long wait.
Fresh & hot many favors to choose 👍👊
A bit like funnel cakes with more chew
Really like this place especially before it moved to Del Amo. Due to padamic, the store changed packaging and no longer let people pick flavor. So kinda not as so good as before but still my favorite place to go to. Yummy!
Getting our MODO fix! So glad theyre here permanently!
Apparently, this place is a pop-up shop and extremely popular! They make a mochi donut from Hawaii. These are the flavors but not all available all the time. Line was insane but about 45 min from the endORIGINAL HAWAIIAN HONEY GLAZEWHITE CHOCOLATECOCONUTBLACK SESAMEILLY ESPRESSOBLUEBERRYLILIKOIEARL GREYSTRAWBERRYCOOKIES N CREAM
I didn’t eat this. But this store is closed. They will open at the other mall. Why they are still showing as “open”? Today I spent 2 hours for visiting.FYI, this store will open in the middle of March!
Mochi donuts are great. Just like the ones in Asia.
