Just stopped by the store today for some materials for 1st grade. Penny was incredibly helpful. I emailed first and she responded the same day. She was able to help direct me to different resource options and able to give insightful information about how to use the curriculum I was looking at. She was also informed me about some information regarding testing that was helpful for me to understand.I would highly recommend anyone looking for curriculum or information on teaching independently or at home to stop by and check out this store.

I cannot say enough good things about Tools for the Home Educator! Penny is a wealth of knowledge and I am so blessed to have heard of her just when we were beginning our homeschool journey. My husband and I had a private session with her which was extremely helpful for the both of us. It helped answer so many questions and helped us become more clear(and less stressed!) on what path we wanted to take.I recently attended one of her webinars and it was SO HELPFUL!!! Penny had so much information to share, and she has other parents chime in on their experience! Thank you Penny for all of your help! If you are considering homeschooling or have been homeschooling for years, Penny is definitely someone that can elevate your experience.

Penny Ross was so helpful. She helped us devise a plan for how to homeschool my daughter who is soon to be a Senior in Highschool. She had many different ways and tools to help us. Her expertise and professionalism was such a breath of fresh air. She is very reasonable in her fees, Id still pay more. Very easy to communicate with as well.

I have attended a few workshops on different occasions by Tools for the Home Educator. Penny is so knowledgeable and kind and even makes homeschooling through High School and preparing for college seem less difficult than a parent may fear. She seems to be especially gifted at helping parents navigate the waters of homeschooling through their own special circumstances without judgement, just help.

It will take me several pages to fairly describe the priceless help we have received from Penny Ross. My husband and I considered her advice when we were thinking about homeschooling our daughter. This decision has proved to be one of the best decisions for our family. However, it has had its challenges and Mrs. Ross has been with us every step of the way. She took interest in our personal situation and has gone out of her way to help us out. From a simple finding at item on line to editing one of my girls stories she has taken it upon herself to help us out. Her latest help and professional advice has been particularly illuminating regarding our challenges in Math. Through her objective and informed advice we have found the support and encouragement we need to educate our daughter. Her workshops are loaded with information and are shared with sincere concern, wisdom, and motherly heart. As a mother and fellow homeschooler I consider them gifts of wisdom. She not only offers personal experience but lots and lots of incredible valuable resources and referrals. In regards of her business any educator whether homeschooling or not is able to find useful tools in a wonderful condition at incredible reduced prices. In fact some of the best items I have gotten there have been free, yes free!I love shopping there I wish I could do it more often. It may seem a bit small for the outsider, but if you know what you are looking for and is not there she either finds it for you or offers something similar that can help you just the same.I can go on and on but it will be better if you stop by for coffee and prove it for yourself. Even better, register to one of her workshops you wont be disappointed!

I highly recommend Penny Ross! Her workshops are immensely helpful. Meeting with her brings peace and calm to us homeschool moms that are just beginning our journey with so many questions. You will get more for your money than you expect when attending her workshop or consult! I’ve consulted her twice in the 2 short years I’ve been at this and I’m sure will continue to consult with her in the future as she is more experienced and abreast on current homeschooling than anyone else I know. Ps-her monthly email is super helpful too.

Even though the shop is small, I could (and did!) spend almost a couple hours in here! Penny is a wealth of information, and there are so many wonderful books and curriculums to browse through and ask her questions about (and the prices cant be beat!) I love that she made it a place to relax, with free coffee and tea, and places to sit. My kids were quietly distracted with their noses in books the whole time too, so that was really nice!I have heard her speak at various events, and she is very informative. While I have not yet scheduled a consultation with her, I have spoken with friends who have, and they said that their time together with her was very helpful! As my children grow soon into the junior high age, I look forward to setting up some time with her.

Penny Ross has many excellent informative sessions about different topics related to home schooling, college and education. They are helpful and creatively taught. Her book shop has great books, dictionaries and games. If you dont find your book, Penny helps you to figure out where to get it. She is a fantastic resource in the South Bay (LA). Our son is pre-K and we are spending this time before kindergarten learning all we can about our homeschooling options. Both my husband and I attended her What, Why, and How workshop and learned many new things! I am so very glad a friend told me about her workshop and highly recommend it to all parents who may wonder what homeschooling is about.

I have relied on Pennys expertise and advice in all areas of homeschooling my children. She is extremely knowledgeable regarding resources in our area and online. She has also been very helpful in helping us make four year plans for our homeschooled high schoolers and helping us to insure that we meet all requirements for high school graduation and college admittance. Her hourly rate is minuscule as compared to the value we receive from her experience and knowledge.

Homeschooling can be a lonely road with lots of questions, validations we seldom receive. Sometimes we feel like we are on the top and got it down, sometimes we just wondering around in dim light when we school our children...I had a great experience today when I visited Mrs. Penny Datner Ross in her Tools for the Home Educator shop. She answered questions I did have and questions I did not even know I had;).Got great resources of books and curriculum. Got my feedback and validation. Please visit her when you get to a bump in the road or when you have just a question in an area. Her place is not just a shop but a haven for the homeschooler where you can open your heart and receive acceptance, love, encouragement and help!

Pennys workshops, articles and consultations have guided and encouraged me in my 7 years of homeschooling. Having homeschooled her own 3 children, taught English, government/economics, and worldview classes, been vice-principal of a homeschool academy for 11 years, and spoken at the annual CHEA convention and more, she is a trusted, valuable resource in our community.Last year, I booked a consultation to discuss my sons learning styles, strengths/weaknesses, my struggles, hopes, plans and curriculum choices for the year. Penny gave me recommendations, assurance and prayer. To prepare for the 2015-16 academic year, I will again visit Penny for my annual homeschool check-up. Just as I regularly visit my doctors and have the car maintained, I want to ensure that my family is developing healthily in our homeschooling journey. I would encourage everyone to do this.Give Penny a call. For less than the cost of a haircut, you can make a worthwhile investment in the lives of your children and family that will far outlast a haircut.
