Every employee at Guitar Center, Totowa, New Jersey is incredible! They are all experienced and knowledgeable. Theyre more than willing to spend as much time as necessary with the customer to make sure he or she leaves with just whats needed, be it a purchase, repair or simply advice and information. The instruments sold here are of the highest quality and if, for some reason you need to return or exchange an item, the process is easy. The return policy is excellent. Dealing with Chris, Matt, Keith, Ken, Brian, Lauren and everyone else is always a pleasant experience. Thanks Guitar Center for a great customer experience!
I took a telecaster that I bought at the same store a month earlier in for a standard set up after noticing fret buzz. Was told it would be about a week. After no follow up for almost 2 weeks I call back this past Saturday to ask about it. I was told they must’ve left a message for the wrong number and that my guitar was ready “a while ago” (their words, I guess they didn’t follow up when I didn’t show up or call back?). So after paying for it (my fault for not playing and checking before leaving), I come home and notice pretty obvious fret buzz on my low E string. Then after seeing that the bridge looked suspiciously untouched, I checked the intonation, which of course was really off. It was obviously not adjusted. Honestly, I’m not even sure they did anything but replace the strings. I don’t ever leave online reviews but this was very disappointing and would strongly recommend going to a small business for repairs
This place is empty - It feels like the online killed this store. Good place cool people great Costomer service.
The staff was extremely helpful and saved me when I discovered I was missing a power cable minutes before my DJ gig started tonight! If I’m ever back in this area, I’ll be sure to come back! Thank you so much, you guys are lifesavers!
The guitar lesson was good. The instructor is an actual onsite instructor for guitar center during the week.
The old gray mare aint what she used to be! Very few top shelf instruments anymore, they seem much more interested in selling cables and guitar straps. But, it is what it is.
Brian was a super star extremely patient and knowledgeable. He was on point and energetic. He made my life super easy handling my return. But besides Brian everyone we encountered in that stores was super nice. Even though I live nowhere near this location coming from Brooklyn to visit family in NJ and driving to this location an hour away was totally worth it.
If I could give zero stars I would. I went in to get help with changing guitar strings; I got a second hand guitar and I wasnt sure exactly how to do it, and the 2 guys at the counter said they couldnt help me because they needed to PASS A TEST to help customers change strings. They said that the tech person wasnt in to help. It should be a prerequisite working at a GUITAR Center to know how to, and help customers, change their strings. Then I was just going to buy some strings and wing it at home so I asked the guy to take a look at my guitar to see what gauge the strings were. He glanced at the guitar and said, I dont know, try 13s.F that place.
Went last night exchange a couple of recently purchased mid-level guitars for an end game PRS. Chris, the store manager, helped me. He was GREAT! Ive just returned to playing after a long hiatus and its taken me some time to figure out what instrument was best for me. The folks at both the Totowa and the Springfield stores have been EXTREMELY accommodating and I really appreciate that.Chris really went above and beyond to make me a happy customer, and he succeeded!
Best employees in the game. Very attentive and helpful. Everyone needs to go to the guitar center of totowa
Manager was super helpful and got me an item that I couldn’t find anywhere else. Best store ever.
The layout is dated but they have an excellent selection of guitars compared to other Guitar Centers Ive been to
I built my whole studio on scratch and dent and used gear at GC. This location was always super helpful and they have plenty of non scratch and dent stuff too :)
Cool place to visit when in the area. i never have a hard time and everything goes smoothly. i dont come often just because its far from where i live but when i do come its a lot of fun
Love this they are very helpful in answering question and helping solving your problems
Very attentive and knowledgeable employees. Non pressuring and patient.
My experience at the Guitar Center was extremely pleasant and met the expectation for novice guitar users. My husband and I visited the store looking to purchase a guitar for our son. Being that he is new to playing the guitar and could potentially become disinterested before he actually gets started, we needed a lot of guidance. Jason immediately jumped in to assist and spent about 30 minutes guiding us through acoustic and electric guitar selections. Were very pleased with our purchase and signed our son up for four lessons.
DO NOT SHOP AT GUITAR-MART!!!!Ordered online, was sent wrong product. Called store, staff asked for my contact and never contacted me. Called store again, told they would issue return authorization-- called back following week (since they had not issued a return.) Talked to a third person to get return label. I ship out the return (youre welcome btw) and Guitarcenter issues a refund minus shipping! Contacted store again. Item I ordered no longer available but we will issue refund on shipping (only after being told of issue.)In short, if youre a musician: DO NOT SHOP HERE. If youre, a mom or dad that knows nothing about musical equipment or proper service, by all means throw your money away on your brat and give your hard earned money to this souless corporate entity.
Pro tip, sell on reverb, but if you want quick money, sell to guitar center, just be wary of this guitar center. I recommend you sell to Paramus to be safe. Never had a problem with them, in fact everytime Ive gone to Paramus theyve looked out for me as a customer. Great location.Totowa has a salesman who in my personal experience will turn down a trade in at the slightest inconvenience. So now you wasted your time and gas driving to this place knowing you have a perfectly sellable instrument, but lazy bones just doesnt care cause youre not buying something. One time I went here with a guitar that had a kill switch, relatively high end Ernie ball music man stringray guitar. He turned it down. for that reason alone. I went to Sam Ash and they bought it no questions asked. Got 600 for it. Selling to these stores you gotta be willing to take a hit on the price.Recently I went to sell a bass, the guy doing the sale had a hard time finding the specific year(not a big deal), the bass itself was not a rare or niche brand, Ernie ball again. The guy ringing up my sale looks to said MR.lazybones and he goes We dont have to buy it *Shrug* He doesnt care that you drove there, that you stood in a long wait, doesnt even look at me! The sale which is simple is important to the customers, it might not be to him cause what does he care. But thats exactly why you should avoid this location. Luckily the guy doing the trade took the time and did finish the transaction, if he took this other guys advice, Id be standing there with my thumb up my azz for nothing. Totally rude. Most likely if you try to trade to them, youll be fine, but we aware you may end up having your time potentially wasted because of rude, condescending sales person.
The best part of this store is when you leave. Had to come here because I needed a drum head ASAP. Never again...always use the proper way to buy music equipment: Sweetwater.
Excellent place and great customer service
Great place to get anything that deals with music
Good location. Have shopped here a few times and been treated well. Good inventory and helpful staff
Anything imaginable for the enthusiast or pro, decent prices, helpful and knowledgeable staff, could spend the whole day in there!
Zach was great! Helped us buy a practice amp and showed us drum equipment. Great drummer too.
I love the lessons and the institutors ore so nice Great quality inventory 5/5*****
Very nice and helpful customer reps.
Great music store. They took back a mail order guitar return and matched the price of a new lower priced model they didnt have in stock against a higher model that was in stock. Huge selection and great staff
Sales staff seem to didnt really want to come from behind the counter and help with my purchase and the cashier Lauren need to learn about etiquette they get 2 stars because they had a nice selection of instruments but the customer service was very lacking maybe because I was only spending $400 and not $4000
Restring, neck and action adjusted. Excellent Tech Nick! Worth the short wait and well priced personalized service.
Went in here to purchase a Bluetooth speaker/karaoke combo that they said they in stock online. However, when I got there it was not. I did see something similar that was a newer product that I couldnt find any reviews on so I asked one of the employees about it and if he knew the product was any good. He said we could pop one out of the box and find out right then and there, we just couldnt test the mic. He said what I could expect for the price point while he was setting it up and then demoed it for me. I was planning to use it for a party the following week in a room about the same size as the room we were in so I really appreciated the fact that he allowed us to test it. I said he could box it back up and I would take it and he gave me a brand new one even though the one he just demoed I saw him take out of the box brand new which I thought was just above and beyond. I wish I could remember his name because he was excellent. Even with all of this we were still in and out of the store in under an hour so great service and quick is definitely worth 5 stars.
I feel like unless your going to spend $1,000 or more the staff really does not approach you. I was there for almost and hour looking at guitars not one person asked if I needed help. As soon as I picked a guitar and started walking towards the register now I get the attention of 3 sales people 🤔. Besides that store is pretty clean and plenty of toys to look at
Dude. This is an epic location. Starting to fill up slowly with stock again .staff really really knows whats up. Im always happy when i visit here.
Just an awesome experience. Love going there.!!!
Staff was great. no pressure, but very helpful. gave us plenty of room to look around, but were there if any questions came up. overall good experience.
Great store! So clean and organized and really great people! Thanks!
Great customer service 👏
Electronic drum kits were in disrepair and disarray. No help to be found.
Very friendly and helpful good price too.
The staff was nowhere to be found, customers were waiting and complaining .
Nice staff. Super helpful and answered the questions I have. Nice stock of instruments and staff seems very knowledgeable.
Always great shopping here
Dan is a very nice guy, he is knowledgeable about guitars, and he is a good player as well
Great service, Chris is awesome!
I went there for a used LB 75A bass and when I got there, it was just as described. The staff was friendly and very helpful and made sure that everything was right before I left.
Super nice guys! I go in constantly to play or check out new gear and Ive never once felt pressured by staff to purchase. Very knowledgeable and diverse staff; from jazz to metal theyve got you covered. Repair staff is super friendly as well and always willing to give good advice. One of the better guitar centers; they even have a platinum room with high end guitars/basses!
There were 2 separate rooms to try guitars and you can find all budget instruments. They are sensitive that what you are looking for exactly. You can also find other parts like cover or strings and benefit from online shopping.
For some reason when I put in to go to guitar center in takes me the opposite direction, please fix
The staff was very friendly and helpful in answering my questions.
Totowa has more and better guitars than any other Guitar Center in the Northern New Jersey area
My husband and I were waiting around for help for about a half hour before anyone showed up on the floor. I even had to yell because other customers needed assistance as well. When a middle age man with strawberry blonde hair and a big attitude came flying over to help but knew nothing about what I was buying.. I would suggest hiring more people and people that know about instruments..
Great quality products and amazing customer service! I did curbside pickup and had a-little trouble at first with my new ukulele but Chris and Mike were able to help me right away and even threw in some free guitar picks for me! I will definitely be coming back.
Knowledgeable staff and pleasant environment! Definitely the go to place for all your instrumental needs.
Good customer service, decent service
So Happy that i just bought a brand new set of DDrum 6 piece acoustic-electrónic with triggers.incorporated..Mike the mánager at at the store was very helpful and profesional.by the way Id beein buyng drums and hardware from guitar center for many years.the best.P.S...par don my english but you are still the best music store.
Ask for Ben. He is your men there…
Love the guy Kenneth that works there! He was super friendly and helpful! Ten out of Ten :)
Difficult to get to but this is typical Jersey. Some of the staff are genuinely friendly, the others are forcing themselves. I get it, I know what its like to be a wage slave. Per Google News, 10/29/20, GC is thinking of filing for bankruptcy. This explains low-ball offers and the skeleton crew and my standing around in the back section waiting for a human to present themselves. -I HAD to speak with someone, I couldnt just help myself.Since Eddies gone, does it really make sense to p/u a guitar? Can anyone in 2020 really afford a $2300 Les Paul? Or a $900 Jackson? On slave wages? I think not Heir Donovan. Guitar Center much like Harley Davidson are carrying/selling products that are no longer affordable to their respective markets. GC knows this.
Great store!
Bought a used 5 Pc DW online, only received 4. I’m on my 5th day to have anyone to respond to me with an answer as to the situation. There is NO customer service.
Great place. Nick at the front, amazing dude. I called ahead of time and he was there waiting. Guitar salesman/employee was beyond words. Older guy in a cover band. As we were tuning my choice, he actually helped me realize I had a hearing problem in my left ear, somewhat tone deaf.. had no idea. I was helped quickly, not pushed for the sale, very helpful staff.
Very helpful and friendly. Definitely will be going back.
Nice space, helpful staff. However, not everyone was being safe. Limits to the number of people in spaces were not being obeyed/enforced.
I had a problem - manufacturers fault - and it resulted in some confusion with the insurance company that held the repair/replacement policy. The staff at GC was helpful, responsive, and thorough - especially Chris C. the manager, who took it on and resolved it on my behalf. His proactive follow-up, and his helpful, upbeat attitude made it a pleasure to get through. Hes truly a stand-up, ethical guy. And I love my new ax!
Very helpful. Highly recommend
Went there to sell some used equipment. I called before hand and spoke to a sales associate about what I had and he told me what they would be interested in. I brought the items in and it was clear they didnt know anything about the items. I then went into the drum department to buy a Zildjian A custom 17 in crash and there was nobody there to help me. I left with only the equipment that I brought in and not a new cymbal. Very disappointing and it is clear that this Guitar Center will not be open for very much longer.
A great place .. with very friendly people👏 and a good price ..🙌💓
Went for an in-stock item. Employee looked for 30 minutes and couldnt locate. Gave second option which also showed in stock which also could not be found. Ended up purchasing an item that they had available. Not the choice I wanted. Will be returning the product to another location with the hope that the item I need is available there.
This store has improved its costumer service as the years have progressed. A few years ago they were not so good, now I consider them to be great. There are a few guys that work there and I usually go in when they are there when I have a specific question about a certain item. The last time I went in for a specific xlr cable and by accident grabbed the wrong one. The reason I knew I did was because the sales person was paying attention to what I was saying and stopped me and said “I think you may need this cable instead”, which he was correct. These little things make a difference and definitely makes me coming back here when I can easily buy something online instead. The only thing is wish was the picking up of online orders was quicker. The last time I was there for about 30 minutes because they couldn’t find my box. The person helping me suggested that maybe if I call ahead next time they could have it quicker. Other wise I love this place
Great customer service. knowledgeable staff. good prices.
Entrance was a quick turn almost missed it.
Would give them 10 stars if possible! Ken actually set up my new Roland Drum Kit, had it ready for pick up, and helped carry it to my car. Outstanding customer service!! I will be a loyal customer.
I prefer American Musical Supply.
Great service.
Quickly helped me out. Very friendly
Well the guy who attended me was really good.
Sales guys were very helpful, not intimidating for my teenage daughter who was buying her first guitar. Not pushy, honest, straightforward and easy to chat with.
I love it. It has a large variety of guitars. For my next guitar I am going there.
Nobody in drum department . One guy running everywhere. They also wouldnt buy a perfectly fine cymbal thats authentic and vintage.
Great customer service!
Guitar Center on 14th street is the best of all.
Helpful staff. Especially with starting a podcast
Good service, organized display!
Need more variety of streaming equipment.
Horrible service. The only reason that is getting 2 stats is because they took care of us pretty quick...
Very friendly staff and helpful. Provided me with a wealth of information as I was looking for a new guitar. However, the evening hours could get a little busy and you may have to wait a while to get a representative.
Great customer service and very friendly.
Excellent service overall, someone attended me with overall knowledge about the guitars.
Its a good place to buy or try out some instruments. I was pleasantly surprised to find many old rock and roll records while browsing through the store
All I wanted was to get some information on a guitar I planned on getting and every question I asked, I received the most bland answer ever, clearly showing that the guy does not care. It was like I had to pull answers out of this guy. I would think people who work here would love to share information about guitars but I guess not... and the store was empty too so its not like any of them were busy. Was planning on buying a guitar from them in the next week but not anymore. Ill get mine from another store.
Very nice store. My son always enjoys going there. Great staff that always lets the customers play the drums and guitars which is why my son always loves going there.
Kept clean and tidy. When I visited it seemed like some departments weren’t being stocked and looked a bit bare, but they had what I needed.
Lets start with the bad, if you were passing by on route 46 it would be hard for you to. Is hardly visible because its all the way in the back. Now the good things, the employees are awesome, treating me and my dad with care and passion and were willing to help. I had to return a product and they did not have a problem taking it back. Inside the store is a little bit confusing because of the layout. But above all things it has everything that youll want.
