The majority of the time I go for shoes for my family and myself. Any other time it is for fishing items. Now the shoe department has always been helpful to me. The only problem is trying to find a size 14 in men shoes/boots. I truly do not think they get that many of larger sizes. Now in the clearance/discount section prepare to bend that back to look at the shoes. Now for the fishing section thier weights go quickly. So I usually buy like 6 bags at a time. The counter behind fishing section also is for the guns. The staff in that section can be snotty with you. And has very little patience. Just telling the truth. The cashiers has always been friendly.

Couldnt find my reciept to do the actual survey, so Im gonna,more or less, do it here. Store is great and all that stuff, but my guy Roy behind the gun counter is the best. Friendly, knowledgeable, and was able to handle a large crowd like a boss. Keep it up, you guys.

The employees are super helpful at the Trussville location. I thought I wasnt going to find what I was looking for but the guy at the gun counter pointed me into the corner I had missed! Usually the big stores are frustrating cuz even the employees cant find stuff but here they made it feel mom and pop instead of big chain. Thanks guys!! I love my new rain suit!

Academy has the best stuff that you cant find in other places if it has anything to do with being on the water fishing boating they got it, if you need anything to hunt with or practice with like ammunition or targets they got it. And then while youre at it you can pick up a new pair of tennis shoes and some nice jeans if you feel like it, one of my favorite stores!

Help finding products you are looking for is a 5 star. A store that doesn’t have the ability to look up a price at the register is a zero star actually a -5 . With the advancement of technology it is just unbelievable.

Went was going to buy shorts priced $35.00 under Armor went to register same shorts, marked $40 went back and got the $ 35. Ones and they said they were suppose to be $40. This was factory priced not something someone could change . We did not buy them . Rude !!!!!!!!

They have been hiding the ammunition for months now always say their out but they keep it look up in the big safe for certain people. The store in Hover puts theirs out and said both stores get pretty much the same amount Ive been to both stores on days when its delivered guess who never has any even on that day

Large selection of items for sports, outdoor fun and much clothing for both. The staff was friendly and the store was clean and well lit.

Didnt find what we were looking for in the store but corteus friendly helpful staff made the disappointment a bit easier. Exoected a bit more variety of name brand gear. Maybe next time.

I bought a 250 dollar kayak. I asked if they had more than the display. She said shed look in the back. I waited half an hour and asked another person. It was in put at the front of the store. I was in the back of the store. People were stepping all over it. Uncool Academy

This stores Managment sucks! For the last year I’ve “let it go” but why is there always only one register open? Just put in some self check out stations. This is my last trip here. Sunday afternoon...

Went looking for a glock was told that was pretty much all they had besides the ones in the safe. My thing is you cannot make a sale with your items are in a safe right behind the counter. She reluctantly opened it for another customer, I walked up saw a few of them in the safe. That customer told me he saw what he asked her for, but he didnt want to buy it there. He also told me about another store he was going to, I went also and we both bought Glocks I got a 48 and he got a 43.

They need to keep there fishing deportment up better you can go to the hoover location and they always have stock selves

Bought my kids back to school shoes here. Selection was great. Staff was friendly but they needed more cashiers. The line was pretty long to check out.

In the process of buying work shoes here after going to two other shoe stores I found help twice which was nice. Next time, Ill go here first for a shoe purchase.

I havent been to academy sports in well over a year. Its just usually out of my way. However, two days ago I found myself in the area killing time before an appointment so I stopped by. The shelves were almost empty as compared to previous visits. I guess I shopped for around 30 minutes. I bought a few colman mantle wicks and left.. No one was available on the floor for assistance.. I lost my sports watch and was looking to replace it. Ultimately I just went to Walmart.

Very clean, priced to perfection.. Great customer service. We were greeted by Employee asking If we needed assistance. In my opinion being greeted means they put effort for satisfaction towards their customers..Keep up the great work!!

Ooooh, Ive been fishing with an open face every since I was a teenager, now I fish with a younger guy that uses a bait caster. The way he gets distance with the slightest throw, while I throw my rotator cuff out trying to match him, I gave up and bought my first bait caster . Now I cant throw half as far as I did with the open face . Someone help please !!!?

Needed some Plano storage boxes. They had the exact ones, less than one of the big box stores.

Associates were very helpful and friendly, just didnt have but one of the particular item I was looking for.

Had to wait at the register for 15 minutes before anyone came to check us out and they went to a different register so i had to start over in a new line to finally get my ammo and they would only allow me to purchase 2 boxes of 50 rounds or 500 rounds. Didnt matter but could only have 2. Didnt make much sense since i needed multiple calibers and they had them all.

The store is very very clean. You have plenty of employees working and making themselves visible in case I needed help or assistance with any item. They had some good sales going on, and I was able to find a good deal on a pair of athletic shorts which I desperately needed. In the checkout line, the lines were kind of long; however, they had three lanes open and all of the cashiers were more than qualified and ushered the people through the lines in a very, very quick pace. Theres nothing you can do if youre busy. If youre busy, youre busy.I dont mind waiting in line especially when I see the line moving very quickly and that there was a manager or key holder that was standing nearby in the middle of all three of the registers that way in case there was a problem that person would be right there to fix it or to address it. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Academy Sports and Outdoors in Trussville.

We asked one of the associates a question about a pair of shoes two nights ago.The associate told us I dont work in that department and walked away shaking her tail feather.Never ask to go get help.

This is a mans store. I walk around and hang out at the gun rack, stroll around the ammo and then Im spending money.

Theyre beginning to have merchandise again thankfully. I was informed you can no longer order items not available in store to home or pickup. Im amazed how the larger department stores dont put any effort in customer service. They cant tell you if an item is in stock or anything else. They dont answer the phone most of the time. They want our money tho. They did wear masks and displayed social distancing protocol.

I dont know if she was having a bad day or what. But the lady at the gun counter was training a new hire and I walked up to the counter. I td her that I wanted to look at a trail camera they had in the case. She told me it would be a minute that she was in the middle of something. I just nodded and said ok no problem. She then points at the new hire and says he cant help you, hes new and doesnt know anything. I mean i get if he new but dont call him out like that when there are several customers around.It also seems like the customer base becomes more and more rude the more times I go in there. I was told to move the hell over on the ammo isle today. Its really sad what this store has become.

I normally enjoy shopping at Academy Sports. It seems however they are going more toward a Walmart mentality with never having more than one or two checkout lanes open. I hope they correct this and do not go down that path. The corona lock down is over in our area and there were people in both lanes 20-25 deep that is not good customer service.

Was poorly stocked.Alot of carts in shoe Dept. not on shelves.Was very disappointed.

Really great store. Went by with a friend. They had everything he was looking for and more. Their selection of ammunition was pretty good. I felt like some of the prices were high though. Overall its still a great little store and everyone was willing to help when we needed it.
