Im just more comfortable in the stores thats been in the neighborhoods in Tucson for years like the little mom and pop stops I love those joints because most of the time the people who work there are other people who own it so you get to know them and me and the lady who works there how to a good laugh together even though were from two different cultures and ethnicities
I like Empire foods when Im in a hurry and want to shop without crouds of people. Their selection is limited. They have good produce, liquor department and a few every day neighborhood needs. Parking in front.
I grew up just down the street from empire market, and have always loved stopping by there to pick up the odd necessity, every now and then, youll find something here that you didnt know you needed until you find it. The stores owner, and her son are just some of the most amazing people. And they keep the store very clean and tidy.
Its a neighborhood store that is very friendly and in a nice area right in the heart of the old Pueblo in the 4 the ave district, Mel n Mom are so original.
I known the owners for some years now.The New Empire is a neighborhood market which has been in the Iron Horse neighborhood for decades and served it well. I encourage all to pay a visit to this Tucson icon.
Great place within walking distance and convenient. Owner and everyone there are really nice!!
A fine place to get your food from!!
Love this place. I know there are some reviews that say they should expand their hours but honestly I dont think its a huge problem. Theyre open 11 hours a day. Sure, no late nights and they close early on Sundays but I dont see an issue with this, theyre a family run store not a national chain. I love the Lee family. Just moved to Tucson a couple months ago and theyve been wonderful every time Ive gone in. I use a blind cane and theyve always been super polite and accommodating. I live about two blocks away and I think the selection is great, will definitely be a regular!
We walked in there it was awesome wood floors, Art, old school store not to many left. Stop by enjoy blast from the pass. Im from Barrio hoyo . Back on the day Elysian Grove market. The Lady that helped us has alot of history . Stop by spend so time talk to her. Enjoy I sure did
Tucson is pretty cool
Mrs Lee and Mel Lee are the best and always a joy
Excellent product variety, competitive prices and kind and thoughtful service provide by family employees! 10/10 would recommend! As a resident of the iron horse neighborhood I am so grateful for their continued service and strong sense of community! Ms. Lee and her son Melvin go above and beyond to help customers and to provide a joyful shopping experience.
They REALLY need to stay open past 8 especially in an area with so many smokers and drinkers. And 3pm on Sunday? Youre a grocery store empire. Some great deals like 5 bucks for a giant jar of pickles.
Such a poor selection of products. Cant call it a Asian grocery store. Mostly Western, and even so, poor selection. About 35% of shelf space are empty. It has about 6 shelves. I took 2 buses to get there, costed me 2 hours. I came home with 2 bags of rice flour. I needed Asian stuff for my cooking. What a waste of my time. Frys or Walmart would have more Asian items than this store!
Friendly, no-nonsense, old school grocer. If they aint got it, you dont need it.
Mel and Mr. Lee are awesome I used to live down the road. even did some work for the place
Integral part of our neighborhood. ....good folks who are really nice and I always walk out laughing or smiling
