I had been communicating with a customer service agent at Rainer Shade who put me in touch with a sales agent. We were discussing my project via email and I sent in pictures, dimensions, etc. Communication halted for no reason. He had provided a couple quotes and I asked for a refinement. I have reached out to both gentlemen, Angus and Matthew, multiple times and neither one will respond to me. It is really disappointing since I had spent about 3 weeks just trying to define my project, which was one shade (very simple) and had also closed conversations with other shade providers-then just cut off with zero explanation. Very unprofessional. I do not recommend.UPDATE: They responded below the same day I posted this letting me know someone would be in touch-I have waited one week.....nothing.

Pretty awful customer service. Had an issue with the initial installation and the sales person would not return my daily phone calls over a 2 week period. Got the sales manager involved and things started moving. When they missed their deadline and I called the sales person, still no response.Overall, terrible customer service. Worst sales person ever. Will not use or recommend them ever

Our back deck badly needed an awning. It is a lovely large deck elevated 15 off the ground below, but in sunny weather it is too hot and otherwise, its raining, so the deck got little use. The awning solved the problem perfectly, but design and installation were tricky. We needed a very wide (17) and deep awning, but the canted configuration of the roof and the steel tiles covering it meant the awning could not just be nailed into place. Elaborate brackets needed to be designed and fabricated to allow the awning to sit a few inches above the roof tiles. Our experience with Rainier could not have been better--the materials, the design work, the fabrication, and the installation were exemplary. I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending them to you.

This team is wonderful. From the initial consultation to the install we could not have had a better experience. Angus is honest, helpful and really knows his product. We have several window shades and just had an awning installed. We should have done this sooner! It makes our backyard space more functional and allows us more time outdoors. I would highly recommend them. Thank you!

We were so tired of wrestling multiple umbrellas in & out of storage every year. So we did some research, looked at our choices and the locals always get our business. Our awnings are beautiful, really add to the house and so perfectly unobtrusive when not in use. Excellent help picking them out, great advice, and perfect installation. Cant wait for the really warm weather so we can enjoy the outdoors and no more umbrella rodeos.

My husband and I want to thank Rainier Shade for excellent customer product and service. Their retractable awnings are sturdy, with a wireless automatic wind motion sensor that rolls up the awning on its own if the front bar shakes too much in the wind. It comes with top-of-the-line Sunbrella fabric and powder-coated aluminum structures that come in a variety of colors manufactured in the Puget Sound area, and all aspects are made in the US. The brackets are secured to the roof, so there is no obstruction to the view. We bought the optional hood to protect the material from the weather. We did not get the extra screen valance from the front bar because we have sunscreen blinds on the inside of our windows. We have an extra anemometer that checks wind speed, in addition, to the Somfy wind/motion sensor that comes with the awning. We also bought a wall-mounted unit to control the awning since I am one that cannot always locate a remote. We unplug the awning during the windy cold months of the year.Rainier Shade is quick to respond to the customer’s needs, and that is probably why they have been in business since 1896. It is required that a written notice to the company be sent within 15 days of any failure or issue with the awning. It is best to buy from Rainier Awning directly as they are the experts on their own product and installation. We know this because we bought from another retailer who carries their product, and had some issues with them. We had to contact Rainier Shade, and they helped us immediately. We got an e-mail and call from their CFO and he had the shade division manager, Ryan Derrick, contact us. Ryan inspected our awning and within days resolved the issue. The technicians were professional and very helpful. They know how to set the pitch of the awning to accommodate the needs of the customers. We bought the awning to shade the deck and keep the hot sun out of our home which has a westward-facing view of Puget Sound. When the technicians finished, they handed me all the brochures and information that I needed for my files, instructed me on how to clean the awning, showed me how to change the CR2032 coin cell battery in the wind sensor and remote, and explained that the awning may retract without wind when the battery gets low in the sensor. The original retailer sold us on this product, but I had to request brochures that they sent electronically, and we were not instructed on how to change the battery. The original technicians were not nearly as experienced with the set-up of this awning. They set the awning at 15 degrees stating it was required by the manufacturer when requirements are that the setting cannot be less than 15 degrees. Rainier Shade set the pitch at about 45 degrees to keep the afternoon sun to a minimum.Awnings are costly, and if done wrong they can become a liability. They involve brackets that break the integrity of the roof and require proper sealing. You don’t want your awning to fly off your roof in a big wind storm, so you want strong reliable products and installers who know what they are doing. We feel that Rainier Industries product and expertise meet those requirements. We will definitely recommend this company to our friends!

I have been waiting for 5 months for my shades and have not heard a word. I have called multiple times and no one will call me back. I payed 75% down and can not get a response from the manufacturer or the sales person (Rep) that’s sold me this product. Very unprofessional and boarder line theft by deception.
