Ruelle was very pleasant and professional to deal with. He repaired a damaged, hand carved stool quickly and the results are great. I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out and it was very affordable.I will definitely bring back anything else that needs restoration in to Ruelle’s in the future.

September 3, 2021 We have reached an agreement which is probably equally satisfactory & dissatisfactory for both of us - when means it is hopefully win/win. Gene agreed to refund 50% of the cost of the refinishing. Im not sure this would have been accomplished without the transparency of reviews like this. I have upgraded my review from a 1 to a 3. This experience is one single data point in many other positive reviews but I feel it important to note it took months for him to accept responsibility and move to a solution. My family heirloom is still damaged and I will have to get it restored by someone else at a later date.August 27, 2021. Gene, shame on you. You know this is not fixed. Despite how you are responding below. You texted me this week to ask me to remove the review and we discussed the damage still present. I was quoted $450 to refinish the top, you charged around $800 by the time it was done and my poor table still has many gouges from you and your helper scratching it during delivery. You are not being truthful and you have not been accountable for the damages you caused to a family heirloom.Original Review: I paid for restoration and delivery of a table that has been in the family for years. When it was delivered, they damaged it making deep gouges in the wood. Gene promised to come back and make it right back in June and it is still not fixed. He will not return calls or texts. Very sad and wish I had held funds back.

My husbands grandmother gave him a glass-topped table that was in bad shape. The finish was peeling and parts of it had come unglued. I took it to Ruelle Restorations to see if it could be restored. Gene, the owner, said it was a cocktail table from the 1930s. The restoration turned out beautifully. The old finish was painstakingly removed even on the carved birds on the top. It turned out that the wooden frame around the glass top was a different wood and we decided to have him stain it to match the table. It was a perfect match. I spoke with Gene several times during the restoration and he asked me to drop by to check the progress. He really cared about this table and when it was completed he thanked me for allowing him to work on such a unique and beautiful piece of furniture. We are very pleased with the results and Gene was a pleasure to work with.

They did an amazing job on our 100 year-old parquet top wood dining table. It had some very significant stains, chips, and scratches that really took away from its beauty. It now looks like a well-preserved antique! I couldn’t be happier with the quality of their work and high level of professionalism. He reviewed in great detail how the piece should be cared for to keep it in top shape. They really go above and beyond. Worth the drive and the wait!

Our church has a large, heavy wooden table from France, that is about 400 years old. It needed some attention just to help tighten it up a bit, re-glue some areas, etc. We called Ruelle’s. They came to our place, did the work and did a great job, at a very reasonable price - for the craftsmanship, skill and expertise they have. They also gave us some very interesting and insightful background into the wood, the style, and the period of the table. Based on this experience, I highly recommend Ruelle’s Restorations for such work.

For many years I have counted on Gene to mend and care for my most treasured antiques and furniture. He is the gold standard. My pieces come back in wonderful shape. He has rescued many a chair from the perils of life with four children. Aside from his expert craftsmanship Genes upbeat and welcoming persona always make me want to stay for a visit. He is not only a trusted craftsman but a real friend.

The gentleman I spoke to did not call me back or answer the phone, even when I was asked to call back in five minutes, which I did. He also did not respond to my email or photos, which I was asked to send. I am very disappointed as I really need some valued antiques restored.

We have been very pleased with the work of Gene Ruelle and Ruelle Restorations. The foot of our huge Belgian buffet was broken off some years ago by professional movers. While we had it repaired at the time, the repair did not last; during yet another move, the foot broke off again. The buffet ended up wrapped in blankets and placed in storage until we could find a knowledgeable craftsman we could trust with this cherished piece of furniture. After moving to Tyler, I spoke with Gene in his shop about the problem, showed him the broken foot, and was pleased with his explanation of how he would undertake the repair. He made an on-site visitation, carefully place the very heavy buffet on its back, inspected the damage and explained how he would repair the broken foot to prevent damage in any future move. Gene was meticulous and precise in his work. He took his time and treated my furniture with care as if it were his own. He is an experienced and inventive professional. Without a doubt, I will call on him for any future repair and recommend him to all my friends and associates.

Fast quality service. My daughter’s antique bed broke and she was sleeping on the floor. I called Ruelle’s and he was able to fix the bed in less than 24 hours! It was fast, affordable, and he did a wonderful job.

Mr Ruelle repaired my grandfathers 1940’s model roll top desk. He did a great job and it is displayed in my office and in use. He explained what he was doing from start to finish and even researched the desk to help identify the age and make. This is not the first time we used his services and it will not be the last. Thank you for the restore and making the desk useable again.

Ruelles Refresh service is one of the innovative programs with excellent results. I took my Grandmothers vanity and chair to them and the results were outstanding and very cost effective. I will defintively use them again!

Acquired a cedar chest that belonged to my grandparents. The outside was in pretty rough shape and someone had slapped a coat of brown paint on the top of it. Took it to Ruelles and was told it was unique and they had never seen one quite like it. They did an exceptional job and I felt like they went above and beyond with their effort. I am very pleased with the results and will certainly use them again.

The pieces were 1940s vintage and had not always been treated kindly. I was visiting in Tyler and received an antique desk. Unfortunately, I dropped the drawer on the driveway! I went to Ruelles and expected to wait several weeks for the repair. Mr. Ruelle was so kind and repaired and returned the drawer that afternoon so that I could return to Houston. And the quality of the repair was perfection! Meeting Mr. Ruelle was so uplifting and it restored my faith in great workmanship and customer service! Thank you for restoring the drawer to perfection!

Just wonderful

I brought a dinged-up $60 Craigslist coffee table to Gene Ruelle, wanting a water ring and some scratches removed. I am blown away by his restoration work- the walnuts wood grain looks so striking! It is truly a thing of beauty.Mr. Ruelle sent me home with a bottle of his proprietary bees wax finish and did a great job explaining how to maintain the beautiful finish. Ill cherish my table forever and would not hesitate to use Ruelle Restorations in the future.

Im not sure how this guy could have 5-star reviews. Ive talked with him several times, and it has never been a positive business experience. Ill be searching elsewhere for someone who wants my business.

When we had a 30-year-old conference table in need of restoration, we knew there was one name to call. I can’t tell you how pleased we our with the restoration work Gene and Justin did on our table. They are true artists, as well as stewards of history. I can’t recommend them enough.
