I met with Mr. Ray today to discuss checking bores, crank, head, and pistons / connecting rods on my 01 VW ALH. He definitely knows his business. A note to folks: make sure you bring only the bare engine parts. A guy brought in a hemi with everything on it. Mr. Ray turned him away and told him to bring just the block, pistons, etc.
Always does amazing work. Charles takes care of all of our 2 stroke jet ski cylinders and keeps us moving
Charlie is the best most honest guy around. Would definitely recommend him to anyone.
The owner helped me measure a Kohler crankshaft that threw a rod to see if it was in spec and all i need to do is polish the crankshaft he was impressed with my hand crank crankshaft shoelace polishing jig i made!
The best in the business, hands down
Dropped a honda h22a engine off to have short block reassembled and rebuilt. I was quoted a two week wait period, didnt recieve the engine for 2 months and 2 weeks. Take it home to reassemble topend and the pistons where installed backwards so he did fix that and bragged that he didnt charge me extra to fix their mistake . His response was I cant make sure every motor is right but Ive been in this business for 40yrs. Beware of this shop they warranty nothing and if I had not noticed the pistons were installed wrong it would have been catastrophic failure and no warranty on his work. No quality control to guarantee customer satisfaction.
Top notch work
Mr Ray is a great guy! always takes good care of his customers. Ive taken 4 different engine heads to him and not once have I had a complaint and those cars are still running. Highly recommend his work dont bother going anywhere else, he does it right the first time.
Hard to fine shops like this. Had a really bad affair with another shop ruining a short block chevy and refusing to fess up to it. Anyways, Rays was a gift to find. Since then Ive had three flywheels balanced and turned, a crankshaft turned and chamfered, and a bareblock decked and honed. Ive been nothing but impressed by their work. You guys rock.
BEST PLACE FOR ALL YOUR ENGINE NEEDS GREAT SERVICE AND THE PEOPLE ARE SO NICE
Had an engine rebuilt with aftermarket parts shipped straight to Ray Engine from summit racing. 6000 miles later the rings on cylinder 7 fails that they installed. Ray Engine refused to honor the warranty even on just labor because I didnt buy the parts through them which cost hundreds more and were the exact same aftermarket parts. Im out almost $2000.
Second set of LS heads Ive brought to Charlie. First set was in December 2015 for Installation of some beehive springs for a comp cam 558/563 lift in a 4.8. Got them back the next day. The second set was last week. A set of 243s port matched going on a 6.0 bored .030 over that I really needed the same day. I dropped them off at around 8:30 and picked them up the same day around 4:15. Jason put new beehive springs and new seals, on top of washing them. Looked brand new, and basically were. Couldnt have been more pleased and would highly recommend.
Just toured this shop today and met Charlie Ray the owner .... all I can say is wow this machine shop is the most organized place Ive seen in many many years. I reviewed some of the finished work and believe me Ill be doing some business here the quality is over the top.
Ive known Charlie Ray and Ray Engine for almost 20 years. They do excellent work and stand behind their work. I dont think I have ever met anyone who is more knowledgeable about engines than Charlie Ray. He is an old school my word is my bond type of guy and is refreshing to deal with. If you need engine work done and done right you need to go see Ray Engine.
Great company not many left
Charlie Rays service level is over the top. youll love working with his team
They are very helpful people appreciate them
Ive had two engines rebuilt by Ray. The last a Ford 390 T-Bird. It started on the 1st crank, purred like a kitten and runs like a jackrabbit!
Charlie Ray did me a solid. I took him a built 5.9 Dakota with broken valve springs and zero information on the cam, heads, springs, etc. He got me fixed up and out the door in a day, and Ive put 30k miles on the truck since then with no issues at all.Ray Engine is the only shop that will touch this engine now.
Very long wait for a small job. Over priced. Not very professional. It took a week to change out a single brake line.
Charlie Ray has always treated me well here. I take all my motor work to him. So does my shop that I work for.
VERY GOOD SHOP
