First time visiting! My husband is Dutch and misses European-style stores like this. We went food shopping for the week and only spent $75! These same items would cost at least $150 at Kings. I was pleasantly surprised that they had items like oat milk and La Croix. I only wished they had more varieties of bread and cream. The store was really clean, well-stocked, and staff were friendly and helpful. For those looking to save on groceries without sacrificing quality, Lidl is the place!

It was okay. Good prices. Service was okay. I downloaded the app so I could save. Im having Financial Hardship. But because I had to get the cashier attention to keep asking questions because her and another employee was chatting and no he wasnt helping. I never got to use my app to see if I could save and she never ask. I dont know if I will be returning.

I stopped in Saturday morning in Union,NJThey hadnt any of the 24 packs of spring water on sale.( And they do not give rain checks)So, far, I am not a fan of this company!Their sales start on Wednesday, so it is kind of not good for people who only have access to a car on the weekends or the time to stop in during the week.Even the whole vibe you get when you first walk in the store, is not good!!!The employees look miserable & do not make eye contact at all.At least in Aldi, the associates are very nice !!! And they are German owned as well!I wont even look at their circular anymore & will delete their App.

Dont know how they do those prices. Theyre saving lives. Well... My life.

Lidl is always a great experience! During this visit, George was able to assist with our checkout process making it a seamless experience Our self service machine had some issues during the payment process and he was able to get us the help we needed by transferring over our transaction to another machine with no hassle. Thank you George! Your kindness and great energy makes a potential stressful situation into an overall great experience.

Great variety of sawing craft, very good priced drinking water, not all produce is priced at a low price, but for most of the regular products are at the same price as other grocers.A little sloppy merchandise on the non grocery area, I guess too much traffic.Good verify of house hold items.Great bakery bakery, lots of selection.It’s recomendable but not the best of all, I till think in my opinion that you have to buy wisely from the different stores to get the best prices. Big store with fairly priced produce, fresh baked goods ( the baguettes are great.) Odd items available like dresses, fuel pumps and the like.

Used to be a great store not any more. This place is never stocked! Never have spring water and food its just always empty. This store is just a mess.

Worst grocery store I have ever been to. The zucchini had mold and the onions were growing sprouts. Blueberries all over the floor in the front and two cashiers on a Saturday only. Many items were out of stock and in disarray. Would never go back, thats for sure. Save your time and money and go to Aldi or Trader Joes, they are cheaper, have good quality items and store doesnt look like garbage.

The store was clean, large aisles, a section dedicated to organic foods. But meat section was empty

I went to the new Lidl in Belleville. You will spend more for groceries than at Aldi. I pointed out spoiled food twice to employees. I did find a meat product not sold in Aldi and a few things same around the same price but overall I was not impressed. I went to Aldi a few days later and bought about the same amount of groceries, and made up for what I wouldnt get at Lidl. My bill was a little over $20 cheaper!

Has everything you could possibly want and more amazing baked goods and everything is at a low price I personally love their hazelnut filled crossaints

This is mainly a discount grocery though some locations have housewares and even small appliances. Has both off and popular brands, selection varies. Need to check produce and expiration dates. Many prices are better than the major chains.

Love their bakery department. Very good prices, good selection of frozen seafood, meats and poultry, as well as international foods.

Big, bright and clean. Good prices and sales, Similar to Aldi but on a larger scale. They also offer a fresh bakery and fresh cut deli meats. There is a self checkout area and Unlike Aldi you dont need a quarter for your shopping cart.

All Lidls are great. Cant beat most of the prices. They just need to lower their prices for chocolate a bit. For chocolate they are just average.

I’m obsessed with this supermarket and always look forward to my monthly shopping trip there. I’m from Spain and there are just so many good quality European items here I can’t find in Newark. A few that I enjoy are: tuna from Spain, honey, chocolate, cookies and sweets from Germany. The lidl brand is excellent quality too, you save SO much on items we overpay for elsewhere such as meats, tuna, nuts, grains, cheese, dairy etc. Finally, I enjoy bagging my items (they do not bag and this is one of the ways they maintain low costs) in their super cheap bags (paper is 7 cents and the cooler bags are 95 cents and HUGE). My groceries arrive in an ordered way thanks to me. PLEASE OPEN A SHOP IN NEWARK!!!!

Well its the first time I went there and I had a great time shopping there people are friendly and they have good product love it will be going there again soon.

Great addition to the city. Store is spacious and clean. Workers restocking, when we visited, as supplies go low on the shelves. Super Great prices and a nice assortment of groceries. Definitely worth a visit !!!!!

Three stars is probably being generous. Frankly, it aint all that. While a lot of prices are lower, many other items are same/higher than the Shop Rite down the street. IMO way too much of the store is devoted to Walmart 5 & dime kinds of junky goods, haphazard at best.There are not a lot of name brands. They feature more housebrands, which their website assures me have to be as good as the national brand or they dont go on the shelf. Clever use of packaging. The Mac & Cheese box looks exactly like a Kraft box - just without the brand name. Magical Forest (aka Lucky Charms) borrows its name from the ad slogan - magically delicious.Produce - meh. Most things are individually plastic wrapped. I understand why, but . . . ick. Same goes for meat, fish and poultry. Hard to actually see what youre getting.Bakery is nice when you first come in. Lots of donut, bread, and cookie varieties. They bake on-site from pre-packaged dough sheets. But at least its fresh. And they have a do it yourself bread slicer.On the plus side: wide, open, roomy, and airy. 2 sizes of carts, regular and small. Very handy People seemed like they had it together, and they were helpful. Of course, theres a picket line out front, and the company has a long history of labor abuse.

Cheapest prices out of any grocery store I’ve ever been to. You must go toy the store as soon as it opens up to get all your supplies needed otherwise they run out do items and they don’t get replenished until the following day. Highly recommended!!!

This location is off the highway you have to stay far to your right. Nice and clean and all the food options and sometimes some great finds. Not expensive. On a budget this is the spot. Staff is friendly and visible. Get there early for the baked goods.

I used to love Lidl but people like the one who works at this specific location just leaves a bd taste. I bought salmon at the store and the next day decided to cook a piece. Unfortunately, it wasn’t good so I went back to get store credit or refund. I spoke to the first manager his name is George, and let me tell you he is by far the worse manager ever. He seemed he didn’t want to be there. When I approached him, he looked like I annoyed him for doing his job, I explained I had bad food he processed to tell me to wait in line and he would help. So I did, when it was my turn he was no where to be found, so the cashier called another manager and the other manager told me no refund or return due to Covid. I can understand that no food can be returned but the fact that I have to take back a bad food is not fair if you ask me. So then she told me to call customer service. I was extremely upset because two managers told me two different things and on top of it made me wait for no reason. I spend time, gas and energy for something I’m not at fault. I don’t understand how people hire these individuals when they have no management skills or desire to be one. It’s very disappointing that customers like me, who spends hundreds of dollars every month get this poor treatment. Shame on your employees!!!!!!!

The bakery is excellent, but most cashiers do not know the name of the bakery items, so that they either ask customers to look the names or just enter a wrong name and charge wrong prices. this store needs lots of improvements.the one in VA has many good wines, but the one in NJ does not have any wine.Added on 4/14: the goods and the prices at middle section are great. There are a lot selections and varieties. For example, I got an excellent winter jacket only for $25 and garden tools.

Bought some fresh steak, found them spoiled when the packages were opened (when it was still 2 weeks away from expiration date and properly stored in fridge). Store manager wont return, pointing to signs posted in store and hinting I didnt store them properly. Lidl doesnt stand behind their product quality. Very dissapointed. Will not go there again.
