I’ve never shopped here in person, I live in another state. But ordered on the phone because this is the last company that had a discontinued running sneaker I love. They were super kind and helpful on the phone. They shipped my order out the next day. And then about a week after my order arrived that a note came in the mail from them saying they hope my trail shoes are working out! Really amazing customer service. :)

I stopped by for a new pair of shoes and needed to be refitted since it had been about 7 years since the last fitting. I didnt catch his name but he took a lot of time and asked a lot of questions and was able to zero in on a perfect combination of shoe and insert to help my knee discomfort. Cant recommend enough to get a fitting done here if you have any discomfort from running or walking, they will help figure it out using an electronic pressure pad, measurements, and even testing out on a treadmill. Give them a try.

I came in to find shoes and insoles to help with patellofemoral tracking syndrome so painful that I was having trouble walking at times, and I was not disappointed! I wish I remembered the name of who helped me, but he patiently helped me to try on multiple supportive shoes for my foot/arch type (each with the different insoles) and each combination about two times until I found a combination of shoes and insoles that took away a significant amount of knee pain. It’s been about two weeks and I went from barely able to walk without pain to walking and hiking miles in Arizona with these shoes. I would definitely recommend coming here for any walking/running shoe needs!

I was in desperate need for some new shoes! Called and left a message on Sunday, March 29 at the University city location. Received a return call on Monday from Salesman Mike.. He was able to look up my information from previous purchases. He was very courteous and very knowledgeable. He help me order some new shoes, and they were delivered to my door approximately three hours later. I have been very pleased since my first Purchase there! I would highly recommend them to my family and friends! Great people and excellent service!

I was hesitant to go here. We aren’t runners naturally but with COVID we thought we would use our extra down time to refocus on our health. I was having some pain and thought it was worth a try at buy proper running shoes. Sarah was great! She fit both of us to perfection. She realized my pain in my knee was coming from unsupported high arches. With the right shoe and inserts we are both staying committed. I’m a deal seeker by nature and knew we were going to be paying a lot of money. But when I got home, I was pleasantly surprised when I priced matched them to Amazon and found they were charging the same price for everything we bought. So it felt even better to know that I wasn’t paying extra for the customer service and technology that really made sure we walked away with the right shoes for our feet. While it was a larger investment for us, it still felt like a deal because there is no way I would have gotten the right shoe or insert from Amazon or any other big box store. I was also pleasantly surprised to feel so welcomed. We aren’t runners and we are definitely considered plus size. It didn’t matter. I felt that our body type was considered for proper fit but I never felt judged. Overall it exceeded our expectations. Sarah even followed up with a thank you card. Would recommend 10/10!

I am not the typical person who goes to a fancy shoe store to buy shoes. I am more of a buy shoes on sale kind of girl. Unfortunately I have had some foot issues after a bad break and I now need a specific kind of shoe. Big River Running was recommended to me by a co-worker. First thing I noticed was the impeccable service! I was greeted right away, offered a bottle of water and felt well taken care of the whole time I was there. Right up until he held the door for me as I was leaving. The salesman brought out 4 pairs for me to try. The first one he suggested was the pair I bought. He was right on the money! The second thing that was unheard of to me was that if I was unhappy with my shoes within 30 days I could bring them back, even though I had worn them outside. So many times I have bought shoes that felt good at first to then wear them for a week and realize they hurt my foot. Now I am stuck with an expensive pair of shoes that I will donate because I cant wear them. From now on I will go to Big River Running to buy my shoes. BTW, the shoes the salesman picked out have been perfect. I can get through my day, all day, on my feet without pain!

I purchased Altras today and had a great experience. George helped me and totally let me geek out over a few pairs of other shoes (Im a running shoe geek). The store was clean and all of the staff was ready to be there and help. I did have one minor issue in regards to my shoe, nothing related to the service, and the manager called me and squared it away ASAP.Ill be back- it was worth the trip for my family and I to travel from the Illinois side.

I really love how much this business does for the running community. They have training groups for all levels and many programs are free to join. If you dont know what kind of shoe to get, theyll do a fitting and find the perfect pair.

Love new balance, have used the 760 line exclusively for years. After they changed their model numbers a few years ago, I just kept ordering the same old pair off eBay etc. Eventually came time to order the adjusted new model (I think its 860 I cant remember, I just moved & theyre not here yet or Id check), I ordered them on clearance from some random site no refunds, and they were too small. Ran in them anyway like a dummy, after enough time I caved and had to get some that proper​ fit me.Thank you Big River I love my roomy gorgeous new new balances :) Will def be back when this pair starts to run low on tread 👍

I just started running and decided to get shoes that would be more supportive. Everyone was extremely friendly, eager to help, and the store was very clean and well stocked. Drew assisted me and was very informative and patient as I tested each pair.

Great place for proper shoe fitting and help picking out the right athletic shoes. They take the time needed to try on different brands and styles until you find the shoe that works for you. You can even run on a treadmill in the shoes to see how they feel. Great place!!

Yes, you could just buy shoes online, but you should go here, its worth it. The customer service is always incredible and the shoes are great too. They personally measure your feet, evaluate your stride, ask questions about your running habits, then bring you a selection of shoes to try on. Ive always had great interactions with their staff and learned something too. Do you know the difference between New Balance and Sauconys proprietary foams? They do. They also offer returns on shoes, even if youve already worn them running, so you do have to worry whether you just sank a lot of money into some knee-destroying blister machines. They donate the used shoes to underprivileged schools in the area. I cant say enough about this place, but if you need running shoes, this is the place to go!
