I would have lost the bet that I would ever purchase an instrument without hearing it first. I trusted Sheela Bringis recommendation to make a harmonium purchase with Nic. He loves harmoniums and wants to do it right was what I needed to hear. Nic was easy to work with, answered my questions and offered knowledge and advice. Even though I am a beginner asking questions, he welcomed them with support and enthusiasm to get me set up. It arrived in the mail with tracking faster than expected, packed very well. BUT THEN I PLAYED IT! Wow. I could not be more pleased. Within two weeks of having the Bhava Kirtan Mini, I was asked to play a set for a yoga teacher training graduation. Nic at Old Delhi Music is intimately familiar with harmonium construction and maintenance, is honest, reliable and very nice to work with. He fixed some issues and adjusted my 20-yr old Kolkatta-style harmonium and it now plays better than ever. I also purchased a new Paul & Co harmonium from him. The price was similar to various online sites, but more importantly, I found it reassuring to know that Nic had inspected and setup the instrument. Harmoniums can react adversely to shipping conditions, in addition to the fact that there is a lot of variability among Harmoniums even if from the same builder. Having an expert like Nic to sort through all these aspects is priceless!

Based on a friends recommendation I bought my first harmonium from Old Delhi Music. Nick has been wonderful to work with - he is not only knowledgeable, he is also a very kind teacher. Since I am a complete novice he has taken his time to explain the instrument to me and even sat through several skype sessions to give me some pointers. I cannot recommend him and his instruments enough.

I ordered a Paul & Co. 11/3 Scale Changer harmonium from Old Delhi Music on 4th October from Canada. Since this is a big purchase for me, I wanted to make sure I am buying this instrument from someone who will be willing to take the time to answer to my questions. Nick, the owner of Old Delhi Music is a wonderful person! He called us back from the States upon missing our first Skype call from Canada. I had tons of questions to ask Nick and I just wanted to see how passionate he is or how much information and knowledge he holds about the instrument. Believe me or not, my partner and I spent a good half an hour with Nick on the phone talking about the quality of his harmoniums (particularly Paul and Co.) and we received a great deal of information about this product during the early stage of my big purchase. Later on, I had a few more questions to ask regarding shipping and duties/taxes. Nick happily replied to all my questions and I have never seen him getting tired of answering my questions! 🙂I could have easily went to a store I know in downtown Toronto and could have bought the same original Paul and Co. from them for a cheaper rate. The only reason I was against buying one from the store/retailer here is because I did not get the same kind of treatment as a customer as I/we received from Nick. My partner and I are highly conscious when it comes to buying good quality products. Nick seemed to be a nice guy who knew what he was doing and he is an expert in finding and making this kind of great quality products available for his music enthusiasts. I mean, look at his website. Who would be so thoughtful to put all these extra information for customers on buying a harmonium on their website? Hence I did not want to give my money to the retailers here who couldnt even answer any of my questions. On top of that they were little arrogant to think that no customer should question the quality of their products. Purchased a Nascar Vilayet Khan Sitar from Nic. Received a really good solid sitar that sounds great, well made and is obviously picked by Old Delhi Music as a solid playable instrument. All of the fears I had about purchasing an instrument from India sight unseen have been allayed by the instrument I now own. Nic assured me that they do not stock instruments that have not been screened by Old Delhi and improved in their shop. My instrument testifies to that being true. I say this as a person who has been burned in the past with purchases of middle Eastern instruments that have become unplayable with the progression of time or worse, have been inferior instruments incapable of rendering the sounds you hope to hear. While Nic Is known as primarily as an harmonium specialist, I would not hesitate to purchase a sitar from Old Delhi. I truly believe that they will not stock instruments that are not solid, well made playable solid instruments.

In addition, he seemed to have endless (and pleasant) patience with my MANY questions about which harmonium was best for me, and clearly was not trying to get me to purchase the most expensive harmonium, but help me get the one that was right for my needs. In addition, the Bhava harmonium I bought is FANTASTIC. I had another one that I bought from a well known seller years ago that didnt even compare to the Bhava I bought. I was very impressed with the sound and quality, especially for a smaller harmonium. If you are unsure where to buy your harmonium online look no further. THIS is the store. If cost is an issue I would spend a little more time saving than buying from a cheaper online seller. You will not get better quality or support than with Old Delhi Music.

When my harmonium arrived I was emailed notifying me if any damage was done during the shipping process (keys sticking, etc) to notify Old Delhi Music immediately and they would assist me in fixing the problem. After having the harmonium for awhile I accidentally broke a hook. Old Delhi Music sent me several hooks for free so that I could find the best fit. After having the harmonium for a year I had some buzzing reeds. The owner Nic skyped with me free of charge and assisted me in fixing the issue. Old Delhi Music is the best choice over many other online shops since they will give you individualized care and attention. I was a bit apprehensive about ordering such a large expensive delicate instrument online, however, Old Delhi Music has exceeded my expectations and needs.

Nic was very professional through the whole experience from choosing which Harmonium to purchase until it finally reached me in Indonesia. The quality and sound of the Bhava Teak Limited is worth the money. Glad I dealt with Nic and would recommend him to others thinking of buying a Harmonium.

Wow what can I say, they deserve 5 stars. When I thought about purchasing a harmonium, I was so tempted to push the button on Amazon, but a friend had purchased one that way and it was a mess. On Daniel Tuckers suggestion, I called Old Dehli and spoke with Nic. Nic was patient and decisively honed in on just the right harmonium for me and my yoga studio. It came in quick, without a scratch and the sound is fabulous! What a difference in sound from the Amazon one I had been learning on. I truly love it and I am grateful you took the time with me Nic to explain everything. Nic guided us via skype and FaceTime to repair a Paul and Co scale changer harmonium. It is about a decade old and the keys were lose, and several parts had been dislodged inside. We took the entire harmonium apart. He helped us problem solve step by step! He knew exactly what the issue was with each part and how to fix it. We were so lucky to have found a musician with engineering skills who is an excellent teacher and very friendly. His charges posted on his website are unbelievable. I highly recommend Nic for all your harmonium needs.

Nic and Old Delhi Music have been consistently fantastic to work with. We first bought two harmoniums from Nic, which he tuned and customized well. That was a great experience. Next, when one of the harmoniums needed some general maintenance, I searched everywhere in Boston and New York for someone who I felt I could trust with the instruments. I didnt find anyone, so contacted Nic about shipping the instrument back to him. He walked me through the process carefully and worked wonders on the instrument. Its almost better than new now, and shipping it to him was a breeze.Overall, I couldnt recommend Nic and Old Delhi Music more highly. Theyre professional and extremely competent, and, more than anything, its clear that they love what they do.
