Hidden gem in downtown Victoria. A wonderful selection of books in a carefully decorated space to give readers room to read and relax. A kids corner invites children to engage and relax. Definitely recommend a stop here.

This was my first time here, and when I walked in I was greeted by a very friendly young lady, I believe that she had brown hair and bangs. She immediately asked me if I needed help finding anything, and I said that I didnt really know what kind of book I was looking for at the moment. Instead of walking off, she started asking me what my favorite genre of book was, and some of my recent favorite books that I had read. Once she got the information, she went around the store and pulled out 3 book recommendations for me. I read the summary of all the books, and ended up buying all 3 of them, because they sounded so good, and exactly what I wanted! That young lady that helped me is an excellent addition to the bookstore, and I will definitely be back!

The lady that seemed to be the manager was leaning on the counter, with a baseball cap on and a spectrum piercing. Totally not against piercing just seemed unprofessional with a big ring maybe a clear one would be better for the job! Totally needs a more professional appearance!

I came into the book store excited to buy some books! I walked in and saw a lady wearing a fedora hat. She did not greet me. I am a very shy person, but I mustered up the courage to go ask her about some books. I approached the fedora hat lady and I asked her a question. This took all my courage. After I asked her the question, she put her ear buds in and ignored me! This crushed me, because I was really looking forward to buying some books. I immediately left the store and cried all the way home! I told my best friend about this incident and she was very angry. She suggested that we go back and I told her no! A couple of weeks passed and she convinced me to go back. I was dreading seeing the fedora hat lady again. When we walked in, a pleasant young lady with bangs greeted us and was so incredibly friendly! She asked me what genre of books I liked to read and pulled some books for me to look at! I bought all of her suggestions and I also bought both of McKinzis Picks! McKinzi is a true delight to this store! She has made me a repeat customer. Now before I go into the store, I looked through the window and make sure that McKinzi is working. If I see the mean fedora hat lady, I turn around and go home. It has taken me a while to write this review, but I believe that you needed to know what an asset to the store McKinzi is!!!Im giving one star to this review for mean fedora hat lady, because I want to warn people about her! But I truly believe that 5 stars should be given to McKinzi!!!

Small selection - oddly located - seems to be priced at the normal going rates of books currently

Not sure what the business concept is. Didn’t know price of a display book. Not a huge selection. Quaint atmosphere. Maybe should add a cafe, something unique. Basically new books at retail price. Maybe they’ll carry a used selection.
