Been a local for over a decade and this is the best crystal shop Ive been to! affordable, friendly, and huge collections! love it

So Im not sure where or if they actually have their real hours posted anywhere, but their Google listing says 11am - 6pm.This doesnt seem to be the case. I was there yesterday, at almost noon, and there was not a single person there.The only indication that they would have different hours was a paper sign on the front door that said that they would not be opening until 1pm, Wednesday Oct 27th.I was there the day after, and there was no other signage indicating a different set of hours.But absolutely no one was there.I was really excited to look through this store, as I had read reviews about what an extensive inventory they have.Well its hard to look around and make a purchase when no one is there.Ive read a few other reviews that make this seem to be a frequent occurrence.Im all for being your own boss and setting your own hours, but you should try a little consistency, otherwise itll be difficult for potential customers to buy from you. :(

So much fun looking through bins and drawers for the perfect stones! They had just about every medium you could want and plenty of vintage items as well. Will go back again.

Nothing like good vibes. Went in looking for one thing, and outa nowhere I get inspired to creat something special for a family member. Employees are always the nicest and the atmosphere is always good. Pricing is also great. Never seen anything over priced. My teenagers loved looking at all their cool.rocks, stones crystals. Definately a must while at the Ocean Front.

Everything about this experience was excellent! (1) Great conversation on the phone about whether they have bismuth crystals. (2) PARKING!! (3) Absolutely majestic fascinating decor and layout, much cooler than the photos suggest. (4) Purely a coincidence, but I found EXACTLY the bismuth crystal I was looking for. Down to the shape, color, and size. Most of the details too. I was astounded!

Its more if a holistic rock shop few specimens for collectors, lots of beads.

Such a great place. Just walking in the door his you with good vibes and you just dont want to leave. Came up to Virginia for a little vacation, and Im so glad I came. Everything in the store is so great, I just wish I was able to buy one of everything. A lot of the things there are handmade, and beautifully made. The folk working there are so nice and easygoing. I hope they get more business, because they more than deserve it.

I forgot to get her name but the lady checking us out was an absolute sweet heart! They also have a really good selection of crystals! The rings were also so beautiful I love! :)

Best energy is in this shop ever since I have visited this store long while ago, this era has the most cleansing, fun, exciting semi or real gigantic precious stones, minerals, Crystal quarts. They care about you as much as they care about rocks and stones.I love this store again and again.

This store is a beautifully amazing adventure every time I visit! The collection of rocks, crystals, beads, and fossils is lovingly curated by folks who clearly care about what they’re selling. The staff is knowledgeable, but also enthusiastic and excited to help you find just the right thing. It’s also a great place for kids, and they can go “mining” for their own treasures in the outdoor rock pit, which is a super affordable way to spend some time.

Parked for a quick minute after hours in an empty parking lot and left my fiance in the passenger seat so they knew we werent leaving the car there. Someone from the store came out in less then 5 mins to inform my fiance it cost money to park there and she needed to move the car. Had no idea this place was there and she is huge into rocks and healing crystals and was excited to visit tomorrow however obviously the energy of the employees have off enough we will never visit this place. So much for peace and love.

I was waiting in line, but there was a problem with a customers order ahead of me; since I can not stand long, I took a seat on a folding seatI carry with me. Another cashier came to keep the line moving; I was up next, so I ask my friend to get my purses out of the locker so I could pay, and the owner saw mesitting with my purse on my shoulder started hollering at the workers about my purseas if I could be stealing with such a large bag, I informed him I just got my purse from the locker to pay for a second order while they are so busy watching us the whites are stealing them blind. Mind you I had been there 3 different days of my vacation to buy stones and crystals not to steal. I would have rated 5stars if i had never met the owner.

I love this place. I took my daughter whos seriously into geode and the owner gave her some new information about certain ones. I true gem of a time was had.

Great little bead and rock shop in an old gas station. Alot of rough stones. Very nice and helpful young sales people and a grumpy old owner.

Best places ever. Went there twice in the last week. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. I love the way the shop is laid out,The not picture perfect organization really gives you room to find which crystals and items resonate with you. The prices are also pretty reasonable.

Walking in the door of this store was incredible. The workers were so polite and extremely knowledgeable on each and every crystal. One woman in particular assisted my friends and I and she was amazing, and so helpful, even gave us all advice about our life situations lol. Everything was so eclectic and unique, I spent hours in there learning and searching for crystals and talking to the workers. I recommend this place so much, the best store in Virginia Beach!!!

Store is nice, only a real artist, can appreciate, the layout. Around each corner is a gem, stone, marble..yes marble, lockets, prongs for laying your own stones, charms, and bones. Truly was a great find. Knowledge people, and if you have a few minutes get to know them. Great store, great people..

They have some beautiful crystal specimens here. However, the place needs a lot to be desired. It is dirty, has too much clutter and the vibe is scattered. It feels like chaos from the moment you walk through the door. Not calm and peaceful like you would expect a crystal store to be. My husband inquired about pricing one of their gigantic amethyst pieces and was informed that he probably couldnt afford. it. Well, you got that 100% wrong. There was also a guy in the parking lot barking at us, telling. us we couldnt park there. Really? Even if youre going into the store? Unbelievable. We will not be back.

I used to happily purchase many semi precious stones from their Richmond, VA location. I have been equally delighted with their Virginia Beach location! I recently purchased vintage beads...some as old as 105 years old. My customers at The Smithfield Vintage Market found the beads beautiful and especially liked them crocheted into necklaces. I’m planning to show them in markets in other states including my Florida markets and will be proud to do so!😊

I absolutely love this shop. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. I love the selection of stones, the chains they sell are durable, and every time I have gone and make a somewhat costly purchase they will lower the price on a couple items! I have only been coming for a couple of months but I have NEVER had a bad experience. Good vibes only :)

Horrible customer service!!!!!!!!! Worst experience ever and it started as soon as I pulled up in the parking lot (that should have been a clue). In addition, to horrible customer service, way too many items unmarked and then when asked how much… they didnt know. I will NEVER step foot in that place again! I was prepared purchase a large amount of semi-precious beads for jewelry making... I will spend my money at a shop that appreciates my money.

This place has beautiful gems no doubt and a big selection as well. I went in with a very small, crossbody purse since I never have pockets on my clothing and I was asked to lock my purse up before entering the store in one of their lockers .Now this alone I would have had absolutely no problem with if it wasn’t just me that was asked. About 20 minutes after looking around an obvious regular came in(can tell by the banter between her and the cashier) with a purse about 3 times the size of mine and was never once asked to lock it up. Sorry but I don’t have patience for any favouritism amongst customers. Sad this has to be the reason for a poor experience.

I loved this place. The shop people are very helpful. The comments about the shop being dirty they cut the stones there so the dust is bound to fly everywhere.

Went in there today looking for some stones to ward off negative energy, never having been to a crystal place at all... Homegirl behind the counter hooked me up! She was extremely helpful and friendly. Will return to get a nice aquamarine so I dont drown and maybe a Amethyst for safety.

One of the best bead/gem shops Ive ever been to. And Ive been to the owners other shop in Vegas. Nature, the guy who works here, is an amazing help. If you say you like a specific crystal, hell pull more or similar ones from the back. He really made the experience. The pricing is very reasonable as well. Highly suggest coming here you wont be disappointed.

I had good experiences the few times Ive been here. Im more into rocks and crystals for the collecting and scientific aspect, so I cant vouch for any of the metaphysical aspects, but Ive always left with multiple specimens and never much disappointment. Im not into beading, but this store seemed like a veritable beaders paradise to me. Ive never seen so many different types. Ive always had amicable interactions with the staff, but Ill admit Ive never met the owner thats mentioned in these reviews. That kinda makes me nervous about going back, and if its true it sounds like he could benefit from leaving the daily grind to his employees...

If I could give this business 0 stars I would. I dont usually post bad reviews but for this one, I will since my experiences have been consistently bad.I have been to this business several times thinking (and hoping) that the last time I was there, the terrible experience was a fluke. It wasnt.The woman behind the counter this time didnt acknowledge us AT ALL. Even when I walked up to ask her if I could leave my items with her so I could continue shopping, I barely got a nod. After shopping, I had a long wait for her to recognize I was waiting to check out. Once I was finally assisted, I had a large bill and she couldnt make change. That by itself was not an issue, I had other methods of payment but her attitude about it made me say nevermind. I mentioned that a better attitude would go a long way in making people want to shop there and I left. She followed me outside to continue to tell me its not her fault she didnt have change. After some back and forth about it not being about the money, it was her attitude - she went inside and slammed the door so hard that the windows rattled. Never. Again.

Generally this store has above average stones and a great selection of other unique items hard to find anywhere else in Virginia Beach. However the last time I visited this store, the hours of operation say 11 so I arrived about 10 minutes after they opened and no one was there expect a very rude man sleeping in a chair yelling at me that they opened at 11 which it was well after. No one showed up for about 30 minutes to open the store. Not a great experience and very unprofessional. So limited customer service but good selection of items. Shellys Rock Shop is a great locally owned business for anyone looking for high quality stones and great customer care.

Terrible experience!! I used to go there all the time when they had better staff working for them. This was a few years ago and even than my experience wasn’t that great. There was a guy that didn’t really work there, but he helped out. He was very rude so my friend and I left the store never to return until recently. The other day my husband and I went to buy a few beads. I was hoping that my experience would be better, boy was I wrong! The lady behind the counter; her name was Laurie( I asked because I planned on complaining) she was EXTREMELY rude!! I will never give that place anymore of my money. She acted like she was uninterested in helping us and had the worst attitude! Never again, it’s sad too, because they have such a beautiful assortment of items.

Staff were great, but the other reviews are right about the owner. He behaves like a psychopath towards customers and staff. I would not come back just because of him.Good selection, although there is a store outside of JCPenny in Lynnhaven mall 10 minutes away with better prices.Watch out when you make a right to walk in the main part of the store. There is a deep step down.

Lots of cool stuff in here, but I feel like they try to suck as much money as they can from you. I came in looking at the crystals and stones and they are beautiful. But just way too expensive to be worth going there again.

Took my 5 yr old in here and he chose a rock from a grab box where everything was $5. Get home and my husband and I start looking up what it might be. We have some suspicions so we call my father in law who is well versed in these things. After one second via Facetime he identifies it as LEAD. A. CHUNK. OF. LEAD. That they sold to a 5 yr old. Just to make sure I bought a lead test at Home Depot and sure enough tested positive.

Don’t come here, people are rude. Especially don’t park here if you can go anywhere else.

The place was very overwhelming and untidy. There were so many different bowls and trays for the rocks and beads so it was hard trying to spot what you were looking for.

Amazing selection of stones and the young man and young lady that were working the day I went were both very helpful! Sadly I have to give this place one star because of how rude and creepy the owner was, the way he spoke to his employees was absolutely horrible!!!

The store always has what we need for our business... the selection is array of different styles and prices. The owners are great people. They are fun to talk with and learn from. When my folks came into the store and my mom brought her handbag in... the owner Helen realized that my mom was very old and let it go. I was so appericative and thankful... my husband has been a long time customer and speaks highly of this store. Love love this cute small local business...

Excellent service and price.

Overpriced (at least the stones that actuly HAD a price were definitely overpriced). Most of the beads and stones were more than double what Ive ever paid anywhere else. Staff is very unwelcoming and think everyone is there to steal from them. I had high hopes for this place but left very disappointed. I wont be back.

Everytime I come in here I always experience great service. The General Manager always will carry good conversation with me and help me with my needs and gives me great prices on stones and crystals. Its a very laid back vibe which I love. I dont come super often but whenever I do I have a great time and could stay in there for hours.

This place has a HUGE selection of minerals and crystals, some of them are a little pricy that the average gem but other than that this place is great, I could spend so much time in this shop. The staff is knowledgable as week and very friendly.

THIS PLACE SUCKS!!!!There is only ONE person knows how to do ANYTHING at this shop. I was in this store FIVE times and the first time the owners broke my handmade necklace. The second time i went to have it repaired the person who was making my necklace wasnt there so I gave detailed explicit instructions to the only person currently working at this store.But instead of her telling me she didnt understand she took it, took it and did nothing for three days then had it done completely wrong. When I went to pick it up the person working on it didnt understand because of horrid communication between the coworkers but what i understood to be a common mistake made it i couldnt have my necklace done, They worked on my necklace TOO many times claimed the owners. So while they were working on my necklace the right way she stopped it from being braided. Then i had to constantly call to find out what was going on with my stuff come to find out: no one had been working on it. They allowed me to travel to their store five times only to find out i had been screwed over: DONT GO HERE! The Managements horrible, attitudes are horrible, and communication is literally PATHETIC!!!
