Oh my god, this place is really a paradise. Especially for birds and fish, there are a wide range and it is certainly a show stoper. I have been to a few other pet stores and I just have to buy because I have no option. But in pet paradise there are plenty of options. The biggest challenge I had was to train my birds to get adopted to us. Yet after spending a whole lot of time, they are still scared of people. I saw in pet paradise they are literally training them to feed with human hands. There are many birds just left in the store and they are entertaining us. I really loved this place.

My family drives from Newport News to shop here and get our birds nails trimmed (and play with the baby birds). Theyre consistently the best place in Hampton Roads to look for birds, snakes, and other exotics. So far weve bought two baby birds (and two corn snakes) from them and they do their level best to ensure that the babies are healthy after you bring them home.One note to be aware of: if you have very small children, the bird area does not allow strollers. The store is a bit small overall so theyre hard to maneuver elsewhere too. If you want to bring smaller children, leave the stroller in the car.

I typically keep returning here because the staff is so helpful. Every question that I had was answered and if someone did not know then I was referred to a person more knowledgeable. I dont get to go anywhere else because service was A1 from the beginning.

First time visiting Pet Paradise today and it was a great experience. There were so many beautiful and exotic birds. Also, were bunnies, Guinea pigs, spiders, snakes and exotic fish. The bird area was low on staff but Rachel was so sweet and friendly and checked on us often. Will be back again.

We have gotten 3 beautiful birds here. Staff is very knowledgeable, caring and friendly. I wanted a certain type cage for my conure before I took him home, and they were great in getting just what I wanted. Now Monty loves it in his new home.

The PLACE to go to purchase and see BIRDS!!! Everything you may need for your feathered friend, Per Paradise has. There is a large selection of toys and cages. The staff are very knowledgeable and are available for advice. LOVE this store!

My husband and I love this place! The best part is you can pet the birds here. If you have birds you can take them here to get nails/wings clipped/trimmed that would take $30 each at a vet. Here you can get it done for free! I just wish its a available on weekends too only because of weekdays work schedule and all. Other than that, people here are very helpful! Their animals are well taken care of.Most staff are nice.

I always enjoy shopping here and looking around the reptile section. Today was the first time that I have walked through the entire store and I recommend that you do as well! There are beautiful fish and gorgeous birds to see and buy. The prices here are fair enough for most things but you can see the price increases due to the changes in the economy over the course of 2020.

This store is a real paradise. I bought my 2 friends (a Quaker and a Ringneck) this summer. The store is so full of living creatures especially birds. Prices are so competitive. You will not find this kind parrots for this low prices anywhere and believe me I went shopping across the country. Staff is so knowledgeable and they will answer all your concerns with care and courtesy. I want to thank the lady who helped me for three days to pick a right bird for my son. I am coming back next summer for sure and I would recommend it to any bird-loving customer.Thank you very much

I love this place I just got my daughter a bird from here and I love how knowledgeable they are. I like that the birds are socialized and not put in cages and forgot about. I will only be getting my birds for here.

All the reptile employees we spoke with extremely knowledgeable. Great to see while traveling. Great prices and great pets. Not a fan of birds but the selection was huge and many I have never seen. So much more I could add go check it out if you like awesome enthusiast pet stores.

Great store with great employees. We go twice a month to replenish pet food and its exciting every time. Countless birds fish and reptiles to enjoy and weve come home with more than I like to admit! 😂

The best place in the area. Everyone is incredibly helpful and loves sharing information with you! They have been a God send of information to help with our rainbow boa and making sure the meals and habitat are correct to keep our Buddy healthy!

Amazing little pet shop though I would highly recommend not going there on vacation though. I was planning on picking my animal up to take home with me the day we left. I was told repeatedly that they could not and would take a deposit that she wouldnt be sold (I was ready to buy her, her cage and the whole 9 yards). Well the day came to pick her up and she had been sold. Again great pet shop but I wouldnt get your eyes set on anything specific if you cant take it home with you that day.

Really cool place to see alot of different birds 🐦 up close and personal. The birds arent caged but there are have perches and bedding everywhere. They also have other animals as well. In fact I had adopted 2 ferrets that I could no longer care for, so I brought them to Pet Paradise and they were able to take them in for me. I havent been there in a long time, so things may have changed up a bit, but Im sure if they have, it only made the place better! I would definitely recommend this to all animal lovers.

I drive past other pet stores closer to me to feed my snake the best. She has always ate the feeder from here and i never have any problems.

Guinea pigs are cramped in a glass tank with cheap pellet food. Can die from lack of ventilation. URIs are deadly. Several birds seemed lethargic including larger green one caged alone. He could barely stand. A ferret had severe diarrhea. Also a bearded dragon was freaking out because the three sides of his cage werent covered or dark. Too much stimulation. A lot more but the info is clear. With all the employees, it seems things would be cleaner and the animals treated for their species not convenience. I bought animals a long while back and had to bathe them due to smell but got really lucky that they were mostly healthy other than lack of vitamins. It seemed to have been better even then though. Just hope things are addressed.Too heartbreaking.

This pet store is very expensive to others pet stores. The cleanness need improve alot. Understanding its a pet store however it can be cleaner. One staff member was chasing 🐦 that was flying out their open cage area.

Used to love coming in here when I was younger. Over the years, the staff has just gotten more and more rude. All I do is walk in, look around and ask about prices of animals (wanted to buy a ferret or chinchilla for my daughter) couldn’t get a good answer, but instead snarky remarks from one of the female employees. My advice would be when someone comes in genuinely looking to home a new pet, don’t ruin the experience because you’re going to lose out on customers and money for the store. Just for future reference.

One of the best pet stores I have ever been to. They are very knowledgeable and have a large array of animals that chain stores dont carry or know how to care for properly. I stop every time Im in town and will continue to do so.

However, for more exotic type pets like reptiles, birds, fish, and even the occasional ferret, this is the place!We love the prices and options for reptile food here, but they also have an amazing and large selection of fish and birds! The staff is always friendly too which is a definite plus!

I love going to this place because they have an amazing deal on all their feeders. But lately I’ve noticed they were starting to skimp on the quantity of the feeders. It feels everytime I get less and less. I got 50 supers today and when I got home realized there were only 28 in there. Same with the crickets I don’t usually count them but I get 200 every time and lately I’ve noticed I’ve been getting less as well.

Tony was a super help when purchasing my bearded Dragon. I was taken back by the customer service and approach from the cashier and manager when I was told I was unable to exchange a light bulb due my lacking the original packing but presenting a receipt less than 24 hours of purchase.I was told if I need to make any exchanges or returns just bring the original receipt. I spent over 300.00 in my purchase which is not a big deal however I think I could have been accommodated for a light bulb. I thought the approach and level of humanity could of been better however not everyone is a well trained in dealing with people or customer service. I would be going back just because of how awesome tony was however I would prefer not to deal with the manager due to his superiority complex.

One of my new favorite local pet shops! I went to see how their hamster selection looked, and it was huge! Fairly priced as well! I was not expecting the buttload of birds out of cages, holy moly! Their fish selection was BEAUTIFUL, I just wish the salt/freshwater sections were a bit easier to differentiate at a glance. Will be coming again!

A special thank you to the guy that helped us out. I told him our budget and what we were looking for, and he got the entire setup for us put together at just under the price I told him. And super knowledgeable, you could tell he loves his job. Will definitely be back again!

Just devastated.... We bought our White winged parakeet! To this pet shop. So we expect them to HELP us! This shop! The employees not going to help you!! My mother in law just asking for help to picked My poor bird! That been hit by car just outside there SHOP!! my bird still formed and everything.. BUT they dont WANT TO HELP!! Just to pick the bird up.. They said ITS NOT PART OF THEIR JOB!! ALL I CAN SAY THIS SHOP IS NOT GOING TO HELP YOU IF SOMETHING HAPPEN TO YOUR PET OUTSIDE THE SHOP.. SO HEARTLESS!!

Best place to get food for reptiles!! I love that this store lets you pet the bunnies and Guinea pigs, birds etc... Definitely makes for good business! I highly recommend this pet store, I spend a lot of money here every month!!

Their bird display is awesome. The have them all out and about and you get to walk thru them, touch them and hold them (if theyll let you). Decent selection of reptiles, fish and rodents. Didnt see too much about cats and dogs, maybe just missed it because birds so awesome. Bring the kids for a visit, everyone will enjoy it.

Visited today and was honestly so disappointed. The store is overcrowded and disorganized. They had an amazing assortment of birds, however they are overcrowded in their cages as well! I was also super sad to see a lot of them missing a ton of feathers and they even had some crammed into super tiny terrariums meant for hermit crabs or other small pets! 😢😢 it was pretty obvious all the birds were overwhelmed and anxious. Definitely would never buy a pet from here, maybe only to rescue it from such awful conditions!

We love looking around at the fish, birds, small animals and reptiles. The workers are very attentive and we were asked a few times if we needed any help. My grandkids love going there too and we enjoy taking them there.

Wise variety of birds. Workers were not very friendly (e.g., snippy when asking questions, defensive about other actions) Some worse than others.I had some concerns with the condition of some of the birds as their tail feathers were in rough shape/ plucked at by other birds. Fun place to visit to see & play with such beautiful creatures but the workers make it feel a little sketchy.

Best place by far! I found this place thanks to someone at petsmart honestly. I live in norfolk and one day I had to drive to VA beach for feeders for my baby bearded dragon and petsmart didnt have dubia roaches. And they said go check out this mom and pop shop called pet paradise. I went there the next time I needed fedders and fell in love instantly!! Yes its a small store and is usually busy,atleast every time I go they are! But they always have what I need for our lizards and our bunny! Connor who is in the reptile department let me bring my bearded dragon in and educated me some on my baby! And everyone in the reptile department is awesome and always are welcoming and answer anything I ask! We love going in and looking at all the animals and exotics! I drive the 20-25 minutes to get my supplies! I rather support a local family business who loves and cares not only for the animals but for their customers too We brought our dragon and gecko in one day for a little field trip and everyone was welcoming during it and the two girls up front on the registers enjoyed getting to see and handle our babies!! Keep up the great work guys!! The drive atleaat once a week is worth it for us!

A massive selection of pet products and many beautiful tropical birds. Some you can even pet. A great selection of fish too. Many lizards, spiders and rodents too. Even chinchillas. Definitely going back again.

Best pet store!! The staff are super education in each department and are willing to help with any questions. Plus they take good care of their animals unlike major pet stores. They dont have dogs and cats, but the have reptiles, fish, small animals and birds. The store is small and crowded, but I do not mind at all.
