Great tour that was very informative, Rachel was our guide and she was amazing. Plus the tasting was good and I am not really a bourbon drinker. Well worth checking out for something different.

Tour was very good; chance to learn and taste some delicious bourbon/ whiskey. Atmosphere and hotel staff were wonderful.

Excellent tour in an amazing facility. Great host, Star, explained everything about Bourbon. Huge property with restaurants, tasting room, hotels etc. Nice gift shop with many different products for everyones tastes.. Valet parking only . A must visit in Virginia Beach !

I booked the tour and I am so glad I did. I have only done wine tours or beer but never whiskey! This was not like any tour I have been on. It’s local and it was cool to talk to someone who actually bottles up the whiskey! We tasted four of the whiskeys and one vodka and One rum. All of it was amazing. I will say don’t skip out on making a reservation for dinner because I was starving after the tasting! I loved it and I can’t wait to go back and buy more whiskey and merchandise.

The tour was limited to 15 people. We were able to see the mash. The tour ended in the tasting room where we were able to taste 4 of the bourbons produced on site. Rachel led our tour and was extremely knowledgeable. Very much enjoyed this!

Love this place. I am a fan of Rye and their High Rye is one of the best I have ever tasted. What a fun group of people that made this distillery unique in every way. Thank you for the heart and soul you pour into every bottle.

Rachel was our tour guide. Great new distillery inside a beautiful restored hotel, The Cavalier. Very informative and fun, classy tasting at the end. Well worth the nominal touring/tasting fee. Beware of mandatory valet parking for vehicles. $$ Check hotel website for valet fees.

The Tarnished Truth Tour and Tasting was amazing! The staff were very knowledgeable, energetic, and kind. The tour itself was very informative and interesting. Im not a huge bourbon fan myself but my husband is. However, the Tarnished Truth bourbon is amazing. Very smooth and tasty. The bourbon cream was my fav! Not too expensive and the hotel was gorgeous as well. Definitely recommend going!

Im not a bourbon drinking so it was all interesting to me. Price of admission includes glass and samples. Distillery sells a variety of liquors besides bourbon, but most are seasonally available. Parking is valet only but free. Located in basement of Cavalier Hotel

Amazing experience. A little hard to hear while inside of the distillery but was open for questions in the beautiful tasting room.

Nice tour and tasting of the tarnished truth distillery. It is inside the cavalier hotel which is worth checking out. There isnt any parking besides valet.

I highly recommend you take the tour & tasting experience! Our guide was very knowledgeable and even answered some of our tricky questions. The tour was a great background and history on their process. But the guided tasting was a real highlight! Checkout the picture of the cool room you taste in!

Schedule a tour. Enjoy a tasting. The three year was my favorite. They are open Thursday to Sunday in the off season. The staff in the merchant shop were very helpful. We will be back.

Best for small groups of people, they are a small company but do not let that fool you, their beverages are really good! Our favorite was the cream liqueur which is a must buy! The staff (all 6 of them) are friendly and the tour covers all the bases of how they make their alcohol. The guide was very knowledgeable and nice. Would recommend if youre passing in the Virginia Beach area.

This tour was so much fun! Very informative both of the history of the company and the history of the hotel. The tasting was great, you get to try all three of their brands while the guide walks you through everything. It was great, Ill be going back next year!

Great tour! Very knowledgeable staff with a passion for their product. The tour includes a close up look at the equipment and the process as well as a nice range of samples to try in a lovely tasting room. I only wish they could ship out of state! We scheduled our tour an hour before our dinner reservation at the Cavaliers Hunt Room where we enjoyed a Smoked Old Fashioned and some great food. Timing was perfect!

Valet parking is a must. Didnt like that much. Tastings start at 2pm. Tours didnt interest us. Must have drinks in bar with limited selections. Flights of their bottles are not really available. We wanted bourbon flights. Nope your getting 1 bourbon, vodka and gin for 25 or for 50 you get something else. Didnt really listen once she said 50 bucks. Had couple drinks and sandwich, bill was 110. Gift shop very cool stuff. Just plan on spending 100-200 more in there. Great taste just super expensive. Customer service is great and very nice place to see.

Realized I never reviewed this after our trip there last summer. HIGHLY recommend this tour & tasting. A really unique experience that broke up the normal day-to-day of a beach vacation. The hotel is a great atmosphere to begin with, the tour was super interesting, followed by a great tasting with many different offerings. Everyone in our group left purchasing a bottle of their favorite option. We hung out in the hotel bar for a drink afterwards, most of which were made with the spirits we had just tasted. We were just talking at dinner last night about how we can’t wait to go back this summer for more!

We are new to the east coast and in love with visiting whiskey distilleries, not many from where we moved from. We have purchased a few bottles of tarnished truth and were excited to see that there is a distillery at Virginia Beach, our very first visit to a beach on the east coast. Visiting this distillery store was at the top of our to do list. It actually was our second stop when we got into town. We were hoping to buy some product swag and if we could get out hands on bottles you wouldn’t normally find at the liquor store. Something limited edition is what we had our eyes open for as we have started a small collection.When we got there both of us felt how unwelcomed our presence was. Not sure if it was because one of their tours just concluded. Tried to make eye contact with both the blonde and brunette both looked away. We were invisible. Other people came in and the blonde immediately engaged with them. As we waited with questions.Finally after standing and waiting - brunette stood there doing nothing and continued to avoid my eye contact. The blonde asked what we wanted. Not nice, not a hello or a greeting of any sort. I said I had whiskey questions as I wanted to get something nice and if there was a price list. She said the price list is behind me and that is all she would say.Both of us feeling like such a bother we left. My partner put away her arm full of swag she was wanting to get (hat, flask and a coaster) and went to the abc and purchased some magnus which we are enjoying right now on the beach. And if your are reading this Magnus is incredible. Disappointed by the experience and not sure if we will be purchasing tarnished truth again in the future.

Fun and affordable 45 minute tour, highly reccomended. We learned a lot from Rachel about their distillation process and about Bourbon in general.We originally scheduled for a 2pm, but due to a system error that time slot was over booked. We were asked if it would be ok if we waited until their 3pm tour and that a portion of our tasting fee would be refunded.. so of course we happily agreed. Waiting wasnt all that great as the Cavaliers isnt really that big but on the drive home I realized that they had refunded us the entire tour costs. I was honesy surprised and will continue to recommend this place for those looking for something to do.

I definitely recommend this tour. The atmosphere is beautiful, and the tour was great. The tasting was very good, great bourbon and even better Vodka. We have done other distillery tours and this one was different and a lot of fun.

This is a must do tour for locals and tourists! This was the first distillery tour I have done and Tarnished Truth did not disappoint. The tour guide was very knowledgeable on the distilling process and the history of the hotel. The bourbon and moonshine is not bad as well. I will definitely be going back to do this tour again when I have friends in town.

An amazing experience a great selection of mid to top shelf liquors, and a knowledgeable and talented staff. Also the atmosphere is fantastic. I highly recommend the smoked old fashioned.
