This place is a total joke of an antiques shop. Less than half is actually antiques, the rest is souvenirs and gifts. They even allow their vendors to sell used(not vintage) baby and kids toys. Many booths were half empty and others were too full to walk in. Waaaaaaay overpriced and no public restroom. You guys need to get it together.
Really rude!So dont go late. The website said they closed at 6, at 5:42 they said we needed to leave because they closed in 3 minutes. That was yesterday. We made a purchase and left. Tried at opening again today. These people are just rude! Two different people! A young man last night and an older gentleman(using the word loosely) this time.Today I asked if I could use their restroom after about an hour of shopping and a full basket and I was only half way through the shop. To which he replied not here! We dont have a public restroom. I said ok, do you have a suggestion where I can go?He said, I dont know but NOT HERE! Then he told me while wagging his finger in a very condescending manor, We dont need your attitude young lady. We dont do that here! We left this time without making a purchase. And I really wanted a silver piece we found in there!
So many cool things to check out!
Antique shopping for me is very fun, yes there are other antique shops in Waco but this is my go to for either shopping antique shopping for myself or for a gift for someone else. There’s a huge variety, I cannot emphasize enough how big of a variety they have. It is a pretty big place, it’s two floors filled with antiques, so you’ll definitely find something. The employees are really nice, I went to get a gift for my mom for Mother’s Day and ended with gifts for two other people as well as hers. They held my stuff for me while I brought my car a bit closer since I didn’t have enough hands with me and I parked a bit far. Since my family loves antiques and they awesome things, going there is definitely worth the time.
Great stuff, reasonably priced. My only complaint is that it took over 20 min to check out, and only three people were in front of me and each person had one or two items. Everyone in line was making negative comments about the slow service. I could not figure out why the line was moving so slow...other than that there was only one register?? Two people were bagging up people’s items, I didn’t quite understand that either??The upstairs area is very warm. I would suggest you start shopping upstairs first, then work your way down stairs.
After reading reviews of this place Im surprised it is the same place. The people were friendly enough to me and it is a very nice store. I can understand them telling people not to play with the merchandise they are antiques and would not want them broken. I feel like most people l like to be pandered to and when the shopowners dont suck up to you it is taken as rudeness overall if I come back with more room Ill definitely go back in there.
Why would anyone shop here? Do you not know what happened 5 years ago when the owner had some black customers followed around and called animals? Spend your money with someone who deserves it.
I would have rated this store half a star if I could. Upon walking into the store with my mask and my kids without theres, the shop owner started shouting at my school age kids (my youngest is 3). When I politely asked if my kids needed masks as I assumed thats what he was yelling about, he shouted at me and my kids again, louder this time. I quickly took my children and left. I have very rarely encountered people like this in town. This is the South and this is NOT how we treat people. Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect. I have tried shopping at this store and have had plenty of bad experiences. Ill choose to shop elsewhere, Im done.
Great store! The owner is very friendly. Lots of cool stuff to choose from in a variety of prices.
Love to shop here. I stop every time I go through Waco. Its well managed and the bargains are great. Its a little jewel on Austin Abe. Away from the hustle and crowds at Magnolia.
This place has the rudest people I ever met. Why do they even work in customer service. Ask a simply and they act like you are killing them. I will never return and I dont recommend this place.
The owner or whoever is behind the counter at this shop. Was obnoxious, arrogant and enjoyed talking down too me. I wont go back to this shop because of the unpleasant person at the counter. On the brightside, some nice antiques, fairly priced. Just avoid the guy working the cash register.
My to go to spot for vintage perfumes, gifts for just about anybody, and great finds! Love these guys!!
Upon entering, I was impressed! There were lots of cool things. Until I got to the back. Then there was a bunch of confederate memorabilia, but it didn’t stop there. The deeper I got, I found a “Sambo” book, and “Mammi” cookie jars. So on, and so forth. You get the picture. And if you didn’t get the picture, I put some up under the google photos. 👎
Stopped in to check this unique store out. Very clean and easy to get through. Very friendly people working there
The man behind the counter is very rude, likes to use a condescending voice. He is so unpleasant and arrogant, we will NO LONGER go into this shop. There is a booth that you cant even look for something without knocking stuff over. The booth number is 147. Granny Attic. I told the man about this booth, on how they stack merchandise on top of each other and his reply was you break you buyIf needed I have a picture of this outrageous.
I have a cool looking antique and I was calling around to see if I can get an idea of what it was. I came across this place and called. Whoever answered the phone is rude. That turned me completely off.
This people are Rude. Never will I ever return to this place. Both of the men that work there have no manners. I cant believe they are still in business with people like that working there.
I love this and take place have a little bit of everything
Didnt find anything this time, but interesting items. Check out the gigantic Christmas display upstairs
So much to look at definitely worth the walk to go see.
I went to this place with my cousin a while ago and I was completely disappointed with the service. They were reluctant to open a display case that was located at a different part of the store so they made us look at a completely different display closer to them because no one wanted to open the one we wanted. Not only did that bother me but the person helping us made it completely obvious that she was worried about us stealing five dollar costume jewelry rings. She turned to her coworker said something about helping another costumer then announced loudly “can you watch them” while we were looking at the jewelry. I was embarrassed and angry that something like that happened. I don’t know if it was because we are young or minorities maybe both regardless it was still awful. I was reading other reviews and clearly friendly service is not a thing. Don’t waste your time here if youre looking for unfriendly service and to be basically accused of wanting to steal.
Fantastic array of antiques, collectibles, thrift in a huge 3 story historic building down in the Chip and Joanna district.
Lots of neat stuff, nice variety of things. Shopped here for years, the elevator to the 2nd floor is no longer for the public FYI.
This huge shop has lots of unique and interesting previously loved and some new items. The Blonde Mink Boutique is on the 3rd floor behind all the Christmas stuff and I found a beautiful JOOP! winter coat. It’s a standard antique mall with many vintage vendors each stocking their own section. The store has tons of neat stuff and it’s not pricy.
Found great finds at great prices. Its 2 stories with the trip.
Unusual findsReasonable prices
Terrible service man behind the counter was rude to people coming in the store. Causing me to leave shortly behind them. She told a lady with a baby that she would have to leave because she didnt have a mask but the lady had a medical issue. He argued with her about it and told her that he needed to see her proof of a medical condition. Best part of all he routinely was taking down his mask and never had his nose covered. Terrible
Not really the type of antiques were generally interested in... Felt like it was geared towards older women tbh. The woman at the counter was rather rude. We wouldnt go back.
Its a WOW, you can take a little as $20 and get a real treasure. Something for everyone, if you see it buy it or it will be gone.
Unfortunately the man at the front immediately refused my patronage, claiming my service dog with his best and official card was not allowed in the store. Too bad, I’ve shopped here before but will not return.
O.K. Did not buy. Just looking.
Lots of stuff to see! I do recommend using the restroom before you go in, as there is NO PUBLIC restroom and seem to get very offended when you ask.. even if its for a four year old.. as its not their problem
Happy we came, no issues here, but we couldnt find the 2nd floor or antiques?
Fun place to discover home decor, collectables and antiques. Prices vary due to individual vendors setting their own, but most are very reasonable. I found great deals. This is a must see for locals and visitors alike. The trip upstairs is totally worth it! (Its where I found my best treasure.)
Always a great shopping experience. Super friendly staff and great antique stores within the building.
We were in the store for maybe 15 minutes when they shooed us out
I love the idea of supporting the small businesses that rent booths from here. However, I was disgustingly shocked and disappointed when a worker approached my two friends and I (20 year old Baylor students) and proceeded to tell us to not “play with the toys” as we were looking at $4 Christmas Ornaments. Needless to say we did not purchase from here and I will not be returning anytime soon.
This place is amazing. There’s never not something there that draws my attention. Two stories of magnificence. A little something for everyone.
Interesting place full of mostly antiques. Repurposed items turned into Art. Some booths were so full its hard to see what was in them. There are two floors but the steps were to much for me today. The steps are on the right at the back of the store. There was the Rusty items and there was jewelry. Up front they had new items geared towards farm life decor.
Always enjoy my visits here. Unique antiques and collectibles.
This place had a lot of things I really liked.
I am a local and have been shopping at Cameron Trading for years, but today they lost my business and my family’s business. My mom and I came in with our two little dogs in a stroller (as most businesses on Austin Ave are dog friendly), the dogs were quiet and well behaved. Then the woman behind the counter kind of panicked and said they didn’t allow dogs because the cat would attack them, then from around the corner came a black and white cat. We quickly hurried out the door, but before we could get out, the cat scratched my mom on the leg and drew blood. Now, I am a cat person. But this cat is clearly a menace and should not be allowed to roam free in the store. Furthermore, if they are going to insist on keeping this creature roaming around the store, there should at least be some sort of warning sign out front, which there is not. Very disappointed in Cameron Trading Co and will not be going back.
Quite a selection of merchandise, but priced a little high for used items. Dont expect any help while you are looking or browsing. Almost difficult to get assistance when you go to the counter and ask for it. Dont seem very interested in making sales. Been there twice with the intention of making a purchase, walked out twice without making one.
Great antiquing! Fun times and fun finds kind of overwhelming with how much stuff they have!
Love this place!
