I contacted GM Auto Machining to get an estimate on an engine rebuild. I have an 85 Jeep CJ7 with an AMC 258 Inline 6 (4.2L) engine. Price for a complete rebuild from top to bottom was estimated at $2800. If I provide all the parts (which I bought already because I was going to do this myself but time constraints prevent me from doing this), less than $1000 for machining and rebuild. I think the person on the phone told me $350 for machining, and less than $1000 total because of labor. For a complete rebuild (parts provided by me) this is GREAT!I will be going to GM Auto Machining later this month to turn in the engine. Ill report more after the work is done.
