California Closets designed and installed a home office — wraparound desk with shelving, drawers, special inside cabinet for printer, etc. The designer did an excellent job translating my vision into a highly detailed concept drawing that fit some tricky dimensions including a window on one side of the desk. The designer provided options and guidance for materials and colors, and ensured the design was exactly what we wanted. Installation was meticulously carried out; the two techs were extremely professional and everything fit perfectly. They also thoroughly cleaned up poop afterwards. California Closets created a functional and high quality home office at a fraction of the cost that a custom design contractor would charge. We couldn’t be more pleased.

CC did our master bedroom closet and pantry. Our designer Jeanne Scott is excellent! She listened to us and designed a beautiful closet and pantry. She helped us choose colors that are modern and blend well with our floors and walls. I would highly recommend working with Jeanne and would definitely work with her again and again.

Wonderful assistance and planning by Colleen. Installers were efficient neat. Finished wall units look fabulous, just what we wanted. However, we are still waiting for a desk top that needs to be fitted properly

Bottom line, California Closets has excellent customer service, excellent design service, and reliable quality.We have used California Closets in every closet in our Capitol Hill row house, including a walk-in closet, a coat closet, and four reach-in bedroom closets. We also had them do full-wall built-in custom shelves and drawers in the childrens bedroom.The quality of the product itself is very good and we have been satisfied, but the real reason to get California Closets is for the expertise of the designers, who helped us walk through all the ways we would use the space to maximize every detail. Especially for those of us living in small homes, squeezing some extra storage space out of each closet makes a big difference in our lives! We were especially pleased with Jacalyn Ollivants thoughtful approach to several projects.Our first project was more than five years ago now, and the most recent about 18 months ago. Over the course of all these projects, we had a few issues with installation and design problems we discovered after the fact, and weve been pleased with the customer service. They are quite responsive and helpful.

This is the third reach-in closet Ive had designed and installed by California Closets and they do a great job and use quality materials. Im pleased with the results and now have more functional closets.

I have used California Closets in both my home in California and now in Alexandria. They did a great job designing closets, garage storage, laundry and offices to meet my needs, they were extremely professional, met all their deadlines and completed services on time and left everything clean, neat and looking wonderful. There is a reason I have called on them multiple times at my homes. I highly recommend them.

Like most people, the design and sales process was handled very professionally by Colleen. Within the order timeframe, I expect that a lot of orders were made during COVID whereas this design started in January 2020 and contracted by March. However, the materials were delayed to May but we were advised they could do the 4 installs completed in one day-mud room, 2 guest closets and an owner closet. On that basis, we emptied all closets and prepped for a one day install. On the first day, only a partial installation of one closet was completed. Following that and numerous follow ups for 10 days, they eventually came back to do one guest closet and mud room. After that we found it impossible to get a response as to when the project would be completed. We eventually had a scheduler connect with us in late June to get us installed at August 31. In the meantime, our house was left in disarray with clothing everywhere and a partially completed project. if our expectations had been better managed from the outset, we could have just planned for our 2 guest closets and mud rooms initially. However, the lack of communication by the client service team in the first 2 weeks in May was abysmal.

Although consultation was professional, once they got our money the service portion was terrible. We specifically asked if the custom cabinets we needed installed in two bathrooms was something they could accommodate given that they specialize in closets, and they confirmed their products would hold up to the humidity. The adhesive on the magnet which keeps the cabinet door latched to the unit didn’t last one day. Evidently, they were supposed to use screws to affix the magnet instead of the adhesive, given the humid location, but did not install correctly at time of installation. When we called to have them come back to fix, we were told they were only prioritizing new installs, and were unable to support existing/defective installs for several months due to being short-staffed as a result of the pandemic. We happened to have another install already on the books coming up (but still months later) so they made an exception and said the technician could repair when he comes to do the second installation. He still did not use screws and we were again told it would be a wait to have it fixed. In the end, we had to fix it ourselves since they were unable to support their products. Highly recommend using another company. Despite the allowances we gave in light of the pandemic, this company still does not value their customers.

Wonderful experience, from beginning to end. Sale person listened to our needs and didnt pressure us. Installer was great! Friendly but efficient. The areas he worked in were spotless when he was done. I am in love with our new closets!

My wife and I worked with design consultant Jacalyn to design our built-in shelving unit in the living room area. Jacalyn was extremely helpful, consultative, and responsive throughout the entire process. We were able to do the entire consultation over a Zoom chat--Jacalyn told my wife and I what to measure, and everything was perfectly accurate.The initial installation was completed in one day. Two installers came to complete the job--they showed up on-time, and worked throughout the entire day to finish the job. They both wore facemasks the entire time.Because our floors and ceiling are not level, there were some gaps left above and below the unit. All it took was one communication to Jacalyn, and we had a service technician scheduled to come out and install extra trim at the top and bottom to cover all of the gaps and give it a very clean-looking finish--at no extra charge.Overall, this was an incredible experience, and my wife and I are extremely pleased with the outcome. Yes, it may be more expensive than other options, but in my opinion, the quality of workmanship and the wonderful customer service are well worth the price. I would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Ive had 4 areas done over the last few years. I had CA Closets do my pantry, then essentially redo it again at no cost to me. They took out my metal shelving in the laundry room and put in open shelves. They created a new storage space in my laundry room for sheets and blankets with a folding counter. This last project they did my master bedroom his and her closet using 2 different color pallets for his and her sides, and I had them do a storage closet off of the mud room.All my stuff is super functional and looks like it belongs in the house. The price is worth it. Their technicians are professional and theyre usually done in a day or two.Ive tried to do these modifications myself in the past and they never look like they belong in the house. Whenever I do this work it looks like someone tried to do it with materials from HomeDepot. When I have California Closets do my storage spaces everything comes out like it was built with the house, it just looks like it belongs.Good customer service and friendly staff. Im a happy repeat customer with more work in planning.

Wish I could give 10 stars! My wife and I had an entire closet system designed and built that exceeded our expectations in every way. The process was stress free and the workmanship is incredible. Couldnt be happier with Jeff and his team. If you are interested in a truly custom space with high end cabinetry and beautiful finishes, California Closets is without peer.

We had moved into a new condo but the closets needed work. Some were bare with no shelves and others just poorly designed. I emailed Calif Closets and easily set up an appointment. The representative was out quickly, showed up on time, and comprehended what we wanted and needed immediately. She took measurements, worked up the. designs for each closet on her computer, added some excellent suggestions and gave us the prices. It was so easy and efficient. The worker was out in a month, completed everything in one day and we were all set. Everything was done as they said it would be. We are planing to use them again for shelves in a study. It was altogether an excellent experience.

California Closets - Washington DC was a great decision on my part. I did 4 closets and 1 pantry. The work was designed well and completed in a timely manner. I wish I would have made this purchase a long time ago. I cant imagine my place without the additions from California Closets.

Even though we liked working with Warren, I have to admit that building of closets didnt go as smooth as we were hoping. All measurements were wrong and technicians needed to come multiple times to fix mistakes. We still have cabinets in the laundry room that cant open completely. Warren was very accommodating and tried to fix what he could but not everything could be fixed.

We contracted with CC to build storage in our bedroom. The end product is very good and Im happy with it. In the middle of the project CC lost interest. It took a bit of cajoling to get them back on track and get the project finished. In the end I am satisfied.

In the summer of 2014 my wife and I took keys to our newly refurbished independent living apartment within Greenspring, an Erickson Living continuing care senior retirement community. Prior to moving in we engaged California Closets to create and install custom shelving and cabinets in our master and guest bedroom closets and also our office/TV room. Six plus years later they look just like new and we have enjoyed them immensely. We are pleased to highly recommend California Closets for their splendid and quality workmanship according to our wishes and specifications!

The designer was able maximize our closet spaces and provide functional and stylish designs. We had our master and both kids closets done. The installers were professional and did a great job. We are SO very happy with our build outs and they look great!

I found the process to be smooth, convenient and professional. The end result is an enormous amount of storage space over and above my expectations. Very happy with what I got.

The design/sales process was good. The install process is where it all fell apart. The installers were pleasant people for the most part, but the quality of the install was so so at best. The cuts to the materials were diy quality. The cuts were made in my garage and all the saw dust was left everywhere in my garage after they cleaned up. Their guide marks were left all over the walls. My laundry room hampers were not available at the time of install which required an additional visit. One installer was the equivalent of if I did it myself. The other was like someone freshly trained or with limited experience. Either way for the cost I probably could have paid a carpenter to come in an do the same thing with solid wood without the specialized elements of the California closet system. They were convenient in that the options were right in front of you and required very little design thought on behalf of the customer. I would say that the sliding belt hooks, tie racks, and the finish on the constructing components was the value that California closets adds that you couldn’t get from a regular carpenter. I was not impressed but the work is functional but again a carpenter can give you function work. I wanted functional and esthetically pleasing. They got the functional part down but the esthetically pleasing part get them 3 out of 5 stars.

California Closets installed a new closet system. I was a great experience, except the extremely long wait for the system to come in due to suppliers and COVID-19.

They designed my closet. Two guys came and did the install, very professional and did a great job. The closet looks beautiful and so sturdy!!! My closet has never been so organized!!!

Measurements for the closet I had ordered were not perfect, so the installation guy worked with his team to get it fixed on the same day/visit. He did not leave me (pun alert) hanging.

They built my dream boudoir. Other then some minor communicating problems the closet is perfect for a fashionista like myself. We created an area for me to do my make up, leaving enough space for a Hollywood mirror to be placed. I would recommend and rehire if needed in the future.

CClosets designed and built a storage closet in my bathroom. I liked the selection of finishes they had, and very much like what I chose. Jeff Frank came over and did the measurements, worked with me to get the configuration I wanted, and submitted the design immediately. Then worked with me to tweak it. Installation was a breeze. I couldnt be happier.

Worth every dollar. I was thinking about different options for redoing a closet (DIY, Container Store, etc) and someone recommended California Closets. I requested the free consultation and was really impressed. Here was my experience* Quick response* Consultation - worth the price of everything. The closet layout was way better than anything I planned. The professional drew everything up in a CAD program and also discussed materials and professional opinions on colors, etc. The other great thing was how inexpensive everything* Preparation - California Closets can take down your old closet for a fee, however I opted to remove everything and prep the closet myself.* Installation - The installation took about 1.5 hours. He was entirely independent and cleaned up everything. I couldnt believe how good my closet looked afterwards* The cost of consultation, materials, and installation way easier and better than Container Store (at least the one I was going to design) and only cost about %5 more.Once my roommate moves out of his room, I am going to redo his closet and use California Closets.

We had a lovely experience working with Reza at CC. We converted a very outdated built in, which required demo and a makeover. The process was very smooth and timely and we are thrilled with our custom made results. We are looking forward to using them again for our master closet. Thanks CC!

I want things organized and they did the job. In every home Ive ever had, Ive had my closets designed. I decided to go with California Closets this time and could not be more pleased with the quality and customer service.

We were very pleased with the quality of work, responsiveness and professionalism of the staff at California Closets, particularly Randa, the designer. They delivered on time and followed up to make sure we were satisfied.

I am not happy with the service this company has provided. The designer and I stayed in constant contact for the the installation of my three projects; the mudroom, pantry, and Murphy bed. However the company has not provided any status on my current redesign project of my pantry that Ive been paying for for two months. My designer, Reza has been professional, courteous and forthcoming with me when dealing with the issues Ive experienced with CC. I was not happy with the installation of my two projects (mudroom and pantry), and Reza, the designer came to my home to document the issues, and they were resolved immediately. He has been awesome to work with throughout my experience with CC. But my redesign project has been on contract for over 60 days, with no status on when it will be completed. Unexceptable. I will not use this company again for any future projects. The third Murphy project I had with CC is my Murphy Bed, and it turned out awesome. I am very pleased with the design and installation of this project. But the OVERALL experience with CC is rated low because of the following: two out of the three project parts did not arrive at the date of installation, which delayed the installation of my two projects (my designer worked on a discount for that inconvenience, thank you), secondly, the parts did not match in color that I ordered, which had to be replaced. Thirdly, the installers did not read nor review the drawings properly for the mudroom installation, and I had to provide guidance on the what the overall design was for them to use all the parts ordered. Fourth, the installers had to return to replace damaged parts that were installed. And lastly, the installers left my garage a mess with the massive amount of saw dust mess all over my garage that I cleaned up the next day. This is my experience with CC, as Im currently waiting over 60 days for the completion of my pantrys redesign that my designer has requested status on over 10 days ago, with no response. Unsatisfactory.

The worst service we ever imagine! DO NOT sign a contract with them-it is not worth the paper (or paperless) it is written on! CA Closet takes 3-4 months to produce the product, does not confirm inStallation until THE PARTS ARE arrives to the destination... and even worse-if they forget to order a part, they leisurely take 2-3 months to deliver and complete the installation!All that for the highest priced company! We wish we knew about their practices before signing a contract. Not worth the trouble, FIND SOME ONE ELSE LOCAL WHO CAN DELIVER ACCORDING TO THEIR CONTRACT.
