For the past two Subarus I have owned I have worked with Cody; a very talented Subaru employee. Every time I have worked with Cody he has been honest, straight to the point, and down right genuinely friendly and helpful. He even messaged me on his vacation regarding a question I had on my extended warranty. Cody really puts a great face on C&S and on the Subaru enterprise as a whole. C & S offered to pick up my vehicle, do the work, and return the car to me without my having to drive to the facility. Most of the work was covered by warranty, but the remainder I was able to pay for over the phone. This was all very convenient, and I think C & S may have even cleaned the interior a little and washed the car. I was very happily surprised by the service.
Bought a car via text, just like a true Xenniall, LOL. Truly though! I was looking for a Black/Black Touring Ascent and when I found one online at C&S I sent a message through the site and was quickly contacted by Gabby who put me in touch with Scott and three days later I drove the 2+ hours from Indianola to Waterloo and swapped my old car for my new. Super easy and super convenient, even with the drive!
Love the control when cornering. You can tell Subaru put a lot into this when designing their cars. Now for the engine of the Crosstrek, not impressed, yes on the highway when activating cruse control, yes the car does ok here. But 3 weeks into the car and already two times the car didnt start on the first try, its jerky when going at a very slow speed and when starting to accelerate from the slower speed its like it just jumps into going faster. So, again, best description would be jerky, most whove driven at all will notice it. The engine on the Crosstrek is poor at best which is unfortunate, plan on taking it back to the dealership, have a feeling they wont be able to do anything about it, so will live with over the next three years of warranty. .
Service technician failed to reset dashboard maintenance warning. After a few days It notified me that I needed oil and filter change. This never happened before.More importantly, neighbor Leslie Matthias who is new in Waverly, had oil leak after getting home from servicing her 2020 Outback at C&S. Tech failed to tighten drain plug crush washer. Car was towed back to C&S . She is not very happy.

I can only speak for my personal experience with the Lockhard brothers at C$S, They have been exceptions to work with, I have purchased 2 Subarus from them. They really know how to make a car buying experience awesome, I feel that are the best out there! And when it comes time for finance, Jeff is the guy I have had gel through that part both times, once again this was a painless process because of the skill of the person helping! Great experience. We were in a big time crunch and had to get a deal done on a new car.Travis listened to what we were hunting for, showed us the vehicles we were interested in and had a few other fall back options lined up for us after our first test drive to help save time. Travis was very accommodating, friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the Subaru’s we were looking at; he was also very accommodating when talking price and finding us a deal that worked for all parties. Found source of problem quickly (small rock caught in active shutter grill) and explained to me what this all meant....took care of problem....happy with way service person dealt with problem!
After visiting 12 other dealers in our search for a vehicle, C&S proved not only the have a good price for the vehicle we wanted, but treated us as fellow humans. No one was pushy and all listened to what we were looking for in a vehicle.Nearly a year later I can still say Im pleased with the value & quality of the vehicle we bought at the price settled upon.Cory also took the time to contact us about a cell phone we left in our trade in vehicle which had meaningful family photos we thought lost.We drove an hour and a half to this dealership because of a co-workers recommendation. The drive was worth it vs the local dealership. Needless to say, we will be back again when we need another vehicle.
Vehicle shopping is one of our favorite things to do. We enjoy looking at different makes & models, comparing the bells and whistles, kicking tires and comparing prices. We look all over central Iowa. That said, weve purchased at least half a dozen vehicles from C&S. We NEVER start there, because its gotten to the point that we ALWAYS end there, and we enjoy the journey too much! They have a great inventory, and when they havent had exactly what weve wanted, theyve bent over backwards to find what we wanted. And their pricing is VERY competitive. Their service department is great. Any issues have been quickly resolved. Couldnt be happier. :)

Routine oil change and tire rotation. Good marketing........while waiting to pay for services, I was looking at some of the extras on display and walked away (paid first) with a net cargo carrier that keeps stuff from rolling around in the back of your trunk. Made me happy.
This was the best car buying experience Ive ever had. We pretty much did everything over the phone, I gave them some money down and they acquired the car I wanted. I then drove my trade - in to the dealership, signed the papers and went home after the salesman showed me some features of my new car and paired my phone to it. It honestly couldnt have been better.

The C& S sales team reached out to me immediately after my online initial inquiry about 2019 Outbacks. They set up an appointment time for me to come since I was coming from 90 miles away. Staff greeted me at the curb and helped me find a parking space. My appointment was prompt and they were prepared. All staff including the initial greeters, Scott in sales, and Justin in financing were extremely friendly,courteous and easy to work with. Decent price - midpoint competitive with others within a 4 hour radius +/- about $1000. My car had less features but was more expensive than at offer I got at another dealership for the same trim with more features so I wasnt super thrilled. They wouldnt match the price but since I needed the car soon, I went with it. They gave me an extra key.The offer was still good compared to a few other dealers. You have to put $1000 nonrefundable for them to even start searching for your car on a dealer trade. If I had more time, I would not have done this. They dont use a truck for dealer trades so the car came with an additional 300 miles on it. I had to call 3x for an update since the car came late and they didnt keep me updated. Everyone was polite by phone and in office. Love encore experience was good - they give you a $25 gift card for gas if you go in to ask questions and learn about your car a couple weeks after purchase. However, the gift card is only good at Kwikstar (not a lot outside of Waterloo/Cedar Rapids area).All the other stuff above is OK. Based on that, theyd get 3 stars. But this is why this is a 1 star review: My car died in the garage a week after purchase. A brand new 2020 Forester. I was working in the car with the light on. Turned off the car when I was done and turned on the Engine to shift it further into the garage. It would not turn on. New car stuck in a 1 car garage. I didnt have room to bring another car in to jump the battery. I bought the car brand new so I would not have to deal with these type of issues. It was night so I had to wait until the next day and by then, the battery was completely dead. It took a whole day to get the car out of the garage to try and jump. Then to go back and forth with an autozone to charge the engine and do a battery test. It was at 21%. The C&S service department would not give me a new battery and they said on a brand new car, if the light is on for 5 minutes, your battery will die. Plus when it dies, it resets the whole system so you have to bring it in to reprogram (my windows stopped working appropriately). Unacceptable. Brand new car - battery dies within a week and Im told itll die again if its on for just 5 minutes. They sold me a remote start function as well so if I remote start and turn on the AC, etc. Itll probably kill the battery.TLDR: The car was cheaper than some dealers within a 4hr radius but over $1000 more expensive than an offer I got for a car with more features from a dealer 3 hours away, required a $1000k nonrefundable fee before they even locate your car, did not keep me updated during the delivery process once car was located, had 300 extra miles on it due to dealer trade not using a truck, the battery dies within 1 week, service tells me its expected and did not replace the battery. I bought this car brand new.When I visited for a warranty check, what I wanted was a new battery and assurance this was a fluke. I would have expected at least a new battery. Instead, I was told this is normal. Subarus are supposed to last and be reliable. Batteries should last at least 3-5 years. I should have just made the time for the 3 hour drive to pick up the car elsewhere.
I always take my Subarus to Cand S. The service guys are terrific and always help me with any issues.

Not my experience, but my granddaughter got a car from them and the brakes went out. Went to get them fixed and everything new had to be done because they had not been changed in knows how long everything just fell apart, rusted and everything else.

I need to give a positive shout out to Scott Thurn at C&S Subaru. Him and his team mate made sure I had confidence in the legitimacy of waiting for dealership switch and delivery of my first performance vehicle (with the choice of my favorite color and trim). The OTD (out the door price, tax, title, license and registration, etc) were reasonable and matched closely to KBB.Scott T. kept me updated as the weeks went by (due to trying to negotiate with out of state dealerships). When the deal went through, Scott took pictures of the process of C&S Subaru loading up their vehicle on a trailer late at night, and then when my vehicle arrived late a night, Scott also took pictures as proof that it arrived.The financial signing part was okay, except many months later, I found out that I was significantly overcharged for the rust protection (I paid around $500-$800, when average costs range much lower from $125-250) hence the 1 star deduction.The 2nd time that I had reached out to Scott T, he also presented a break down of the OTD. Unfortunately at that time, I had other financial responsibilities and couldnt agree to it. But none the less, Scott was not deceptive like other sales reps, neither did he play games nor hide numbers.Overall, I would go back to Scott T. if I was in a better financial situation today.

Took and dropped off my friends car to do a recall on the airbags.. Picked up Thursday before I went out of town for the weekend and come back to drive it today and now it leaks oil...Told me the head gasket was going out and time of pickup...which was a lie since the car was mechanically good minus the Cv shafts and the wheel bearing which is all that was wrong with it...we know that for a fact since we drove the car and maintainedo thd matinence on the vehicle...I never have trusted auto shops and this is why...the oil filter was loose which before never leaked a drop of oil until now...Def making a call first thing in morning to the service Manger....the owner of the car and I are not happy about the situation at all...
