Was having an issue with relay and compressor on Whirlpool Bottom freezer refrigerator. Chris stayed in contact and was speedy first opening to help. He arrived and assessed the issues and had the refrigerator back operational less than an hour. Was extremely professional, towards my wife and myself. Will be using Chris and his company for future appliance issues.

Called for repair of dryer at my home. Chris made the appointment at a convenient time for me. Chris arrived on time, diagnosed the problem, fixed the problem with parts he had in his vehicle, and had me up and running in less than 30 minutes total. Chris Hagedorn (owner) is a crook! He was contacted by my landlord to service my refrigerator & microwave. He came out on 8/20 and determined what the issues were. He said he would order parts but required cash up front ($150) for the repair. He said the parts would be in on Wednesday (8/25) and that he would be back on Friday (8/27) to repair as we would need to shut down the fridge. I called him Wednesday night to confirm that we were good to go and that I should go ahead and unplug the fridge. He said the parts werent there and hed call me Thursday. I have never heard from him. I have called many times but can not leave a voicemail because its full. Multiple texts have never been responded to. My landlord got him on the phone on 8/27 and he told him that the part hadnt arrived and the the soonest he could come out was on Tuesday (8/31). Needless to say, he now cant get in touch with him. There was no other choice but to get another repair company out. That person told us that Chris has done this to many people. On top of it all, he didnt even properly assess the repairs needed and totally different parts had to be ordered. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANYUpdate:He just called me cursing and call me an a**h**e because he saw my review. He claims hes been laid up sick. When I asked why he didnt communicate with me he said he told my landlord - not true. Hes very unprofessional.Response to owners reply...The owners reply to this email is a complete lie! My landlord has had no communication from this man. He is crazy!

Chris knows what he is doing; very helpful in diagnosing and immediately taking care of the problem. For any appliance issues in the future, he will be our first call. A tip: he doesn’t respond to telephone voice messages, but quickly responds to texts. Five star service for sure!!

We just bought a House in Waynesville and needed some Appliances looked at - Chris was very helpful with the washer (he just looked at it and knew it was shot). Update:4/20/2021Chris came by our home and gave us our refund. The matter has been resolved to my satisfaction. So I updated my rating from 1 star to 3 stars as he did eventually keep his word.************************************************************Worst company ever. Completely disreputable. Chris never completed the job to fix our Maytag washer. The part never arrived due to COVID which I understand, however I had to call him almost daily to find out the status and most days the mailbox was full or he just didnt answer.He offered me a refund after about 6 weeks or so which I still havent gotten and he dodges my calls. He has no store front. Very shady. Been trying to get my washer fixed since January (it is April now). Finally bought a new washer. Still no refund! I was trying to support a local business instead of some big box type especially during COVID which has been hard on small business. This makes me angry.

This was my first experience with A-1 Appliance, and it was great! Chris came over to check an issue with our Samsung washer that was throwing a water supply code - he was responsive, friendly, extremely knowledgeable and even took a few minutes to look at a separate issue I had with my refrigerators ice maker. Highly recommend!

Called Chris about 10:30 am and told him my dryer stopped spinning. He came out around 3pm and had my new belt put on my dryer in less than 15 minutes ....... Back in October I had a noon appointment and he arrived right on time. He checked out my washer, gave me a price, and left for 20 minutes to get the parts needed. Came back and fixed my washer in about 15 minutes. The whole thing took less than an hour from arrival to getting the parts to it being fixed. Great service! My washer even sounds better than when I bought the thing used. Highly recommend him for your appliance repairs!

My dryer was not working and Chris came out within 24 hours and was able to get it working again. He was very knowledgeable about the product and gave me some good insight about brands, etc. I would recommend this company for appliance repair.

***Writing this review for my Mom*** but also for myself.Called A1 Appliance Repair and spoke with the owner Chris on 1/25/2021 to repair her dryer in her rental unit. He came out a couple days later and informed her by phone that the washing machine was fine. She quickly informed him it was the dryer not washing machine. He went back out and told her the heating element was bad. He said he would order the parts but would not proceed until my mom send him $140 by PayPal. Unfortunately not knowing better she sent the monies on February 2, 2021 by PayPal to Chris. On February 4th, 2021 she called for an update of the repairs and Chris advise my Mom and myself he ordered the parts. After a couple days we called to see what the status was. Chris advise us he ordered the parts and they are coming from China and when he gets them he would call. After a few more days we attempted to call Chris with no answer. Left voice mails and text messages with no reply. 2 days later he calls and said he had no service. After a few more days we called for status again and no answer, no reply from voice mails left and text messages sent. I called Chris myself and he quickly answered and said he advise my mom he would call when received parts. A few more days pass and nothing from Chris, then he finally calls back because my Mom left a VM advising him she would report him to PayPal. He was unprofessional and very rude to her.On February 20th almost 1 month since contact my Mom reported Chris to PayPal due to monies paid for repair, but no repair.Chris is very unprofessional, rude and took advantage.2 days later PayPal returned monies.****Do not pay this man for work that has not be completed first.****Without a doubt Chris will probably reply to this review rudely. See the previous reviews and his replies.***** You did deal with me 2 or 3 times by phone because you could not bother to return calls, texts or voice mails for her. So yes I knew what was completely going on. And yes I did tell you I would contact the police because of your rudeness and taking advantage of an elderly person.You are upset because someone wrote a true and honest account of what happened doing busy with you. Chris repaired my refrigerator last year. I was so impressed that asked him back this year to repair our dryer. I sent him a text message yesterday afternoon, he replied “ok I can get it tomorrow if that works”. He sent me a time that he be here and arrived at the scheduled time. He repaired the problem quickly and showed me how to fix the problem next time if I wanted to. I am mechanic inclined but I will call Chris next time I have an issue with an appliance. He is very professional!

Chris came out to my house as scheduled, on time, was very professional. He showed me the problem with my garbage disposal, which unfortunately could not be fixed because it was so old there were no parts for it. He recommended a colleague who could install a new disposal for me and even called him to see when he could do the install. Fantastic service and what he charged me for the call and assessment was very reasonable. I highly recommend this business.

Took my money, had me order a part. He gave me the part number. He returned after I chased him to say the part was incomplete. He just didnt want to do the work necessary to make it work I believe. He didnt have time he said that day and would return. After chasing him for months now, he does not return calls. Buyer Beware, he is a bad guy!

Had Chris scheduled and came late first time around which is ok. Job can run over. I get it. Needed him to come back out. Scheduled time but was a no show with no call. I reach out and set two more times but was a no show both times with no call. Left me in a pickle with safety’s bypassed on my oven and paying for broken oven door.

Last week I called them to repair my stove connection. They were on time and were able to repair it quickly at a good price. This week my dryer went on the fritz, so I called again. Once again, they were here on the day promised and fixed it in no time. Thanks!!!

7/12/2019I met Chris two years ago when my son had him repair his microwave. He was quick, courteous and his price was reasonable, so I asked him if he could repair an Oyster blender I had been holding on to while trying to find someone who could fix it. He took it to his shop and had it repaired in just a couple of days and it is still running great! Again, his price was beyond fair, so when I had a problem with my microwave today I called Chris. Unfortunately, the news was not good. Chris told me I would be better off buying a new one since it would cost much more for him to repair it than for me to purchase a new one. He called a friend who could install it since he does not do installations and his friend agreed to install the new one when I get it. Chris even took my old microwave down and removed it. That was real service as far as I am concerned!I noticed while Chris was here that there was some water leaking around the bottom of my water heater. He offered to look at it, moved the relief valve around a little to get the grit out so the valve would close properly and stopped the leak, but there was no extra charge! Again, real service, something that is rare now days, thank you Chris. 👍I believe that anyone who calls Chris will be more than pleased with his work, he went beyond the norm for us. We will always call Chris when we need appliance work done. Oh and BTW, he shows up on time too!

Chris quickly got me on his schedule. Allowed me to order parts which he installed when they arrived. Thoroughly diagnosed issue and clearly explained the relationship of how the parts worked. Work was priced fairly.

I’m a 78 year old senior and only one other time have I given a negative review. My refrigerator stopped working and I called Chris at A1 in Waynsville NC. He was at my front door within couple hours, saying he gave refrigeration problems high priority. I was impressed. He diagnosed problem as a start relay, borrowed my phone because his couldn’t get reception and ordered the part . He said cost of fix was $164 and wanted bill prepaid. This should have been a red flag. Asked kidding if he planned on returning. This was on a Monday and suggested part would be in within a week or so. 10 days later I called him, part had been shipped. 2 weeks later no part. He had no idea when part would arrive. Couldn’t wait any longer, got on Amazon, had OEM part in 2 days and fixed in 20 minutes. Have repeatedly tried to get some adjustment to the bill but Chris is stonewalling me. He said he wouldn’t “screw me over” but that’s exactly what he is doing. BEWARE!!

Chris went above and beyond helping me with my dishwasher. He was honest in telling me I could replace it almost for the price of repair even though he does not sell appliances and would have made more money if I had chosen to repair. He was professional, patient and kind and even helped me decide which new dishwasher to choose. Many thanks to Chris and A1 Appliance. We have an older microwave/convection oven from our RV that was broken and new parts were no longer available. Chris had some older parts on hand and he disassembled and reassembled until he was able to repair it. This saved us money and lots of time. Purchasing a new one would have meant a lot of modifications in order to get the new one to fit. Thank you Chris for going that extra mile for us. Arrived at home to find the refrigerator freezer failed. Called Chris who showed up the same day,...diagnosed a bad inverter board. BEWARE. Chris will take your money, never answer his phone, voicemail is full (very professional haha) ignores your texts. This goes on for two months, he finally answered his phone and told me his helper threw all of his work tickets away and he was so glad I called him he would get me fixed the next week, a week later, guess what, no show no call won’t answer then a week later he agrees to refund my money by check, two weeks later no check. I file a complaint with BBB and he miraculously calls me and blames it all on me. It is my fault I didn’t research him prior to hiring him but he was recommended by a friend (that won’t be happening any more). Will have to settle on Small Claims Court.
