Last week I was stranded on the highway in CT with my broken down Subaru early in the morning. I had to get my car towed to the closest Subaru dealer, which was Long Subaru. When youve gone to the same dealership for 5 years for everything, its nerve wracking to bring it anywhere else. Everyone I dealt with at Long Subaru was super helpful. Abigail checked me in, figured out all the warranty info, and kept me up to date on the diagnosis. I needed a Valve Body replacement, so I took the loaner for a few days. For a stressful situation, they made it as stress-free as possible. Its been a few days, and so far so good with the transmission.

I bought a 2003 Ford Ranger at Long at a fair price. Its in great shape. It did have 3 problems in quick succession in the first 3 weeks. These were problems Long wouldnt have been expected to know about though (and its an older truck), but they fixed everything for free and provided a free loaner car each time. Great customer service - I would definitely buy from Long again.

We needed a new car. I had my son research for one. He suggested we get a Subaru Forester. I started looking online at various sites, and was so confused as to who we should deal with. Then i got a call from Lisa. She explained MANY things to me. When i got off the call, i told my husband that Lisa is the person we are going to see. I was so relieved after the conversation with Lisa about buying a new car. So we went to Long Subaru and we talked to Lisa, who helped us through the process. Everything was honest and fully explained, unlike the first dealer we went to, who did a bail and switch, which almost discouraged me from going further. I am so glad Lisa called me. She gave me the courage to buy a new car. and we spoke to at Lisa and the others we spoke at Long Subaru took the time to explain everything and make sure we knew and understood it all. We love our new Subaru and cant thank Lisa and the all the others enough for their helping us buy this wonderful car.

I’ve been going to Long Subaru for service for just under a year for my 2017 Impreza. On the most recent visit on January 13th 2018, I had an appointment at 12.45pm for an oil change, tire rotation, wiper blade & remote start battery replacement.However I was waiting for 3 hours. The tiny remote start battery had to be sourced from an off site auto parts store. I was informed when checking out that the wiper blades were not stocked for the 2017 Impreza’s!!!I emailed & spoke with the service manager a few days later. He apologized, said they were very busy that day (there was only three customers ahead of me) & offered a complimentary oil change on my next visit. I didn’t expect anything for free & I certainly don’t want to spend 3 hours on a Saturday, my day off, waiting around for something that shouldn’t take more than 1 hour. Maybe it was my unlucky day, but three hours? Absolutely ridiculous.Needless to say, I decided not to return here again. Not only have Long Subaru Service lost out on my business, but also the Sales department, as I purchased a 2018 WRX to replace the Impreza from Planet Subaru in Hanover, MA.

I took my car in for a routine service which ended up turning into an engine short block replacement due to engine knocking. There was no warning light indicator or clear signs that this issue even existed. Thanks to the diligent mechanic staff they noticed that coolant had overflowed from the reservoir and decided to do an engine tear down (thankfully this was under warranty). The service department provided me with a loaner car while my car was being serviced and made the experience as stress free as possible. The service at Long Subaru is unparalleled by any place I have previously had service performed on my vehicle.

So salesman and financing guys I had to deal with when I bought my car were great . now service on the other hand is very poor, did a recall on my car and they did not put it all back together. Just recently I brought my car in again for another recall which was a recall on a recall the passenger side air bag . I get a phone call while they are supposedly doing the recall you need an oil pan, brake fluid change, left rear marker light, and a cabin filter. I told them to do the recall that it was brought in for. Was supposed to be 3hrs, I dropped it off at 7:45 and it was not ready until 1:30( 3hrs HAHAHA). My gas mileage was down by 2 miles and now my remote starter does not work either. So I called them to ask what happened, they said the car went in and came out and did not sit anywhere idling and couldnt answer where the gas mileage went . I asked what about the remote starter. Their response was was we only worked on the passenger side of your car. SO MY OIL PAN, BRAKE FLUID, AND DRIVERS REAR MARKER LIGHT ARE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE?

Very good sales rep - knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, followed through with what he said he would do, he even went in on his day off to complete the sale himself. Well, my oil change was done in a timely manner and another filter was changed too. I had an alignment checked for I had it done where I bought the tires, the quick service machine showed it was totally out of line. So I agreed to have the tires aligned. Brought vehicle into main garage and checked on that machine and the tires were aligned perfectly. I was told this which brightened the day and no charge was made for the first false report do to the machine not functioning properly, This was good, thank you.

Rather disappointed with how we were and are treated by this establishment. I was promised there wouldnt be a hard credit inquiry when I placed a deposit on a vehicle, and there were 3 hits to my credit score. Its been 3 weeks since I asked them to refund the deposit and they still havent refunded it. Not to mention the sales agent had to bring up the fat subject twice while we were there... seems he cant keep his thoughts to himself. It really started out great with all the promises but I made the right choice going elsewhere. Giving 2 stars since I know there are better employees that work there (Hi Josh!) but it seems we ended up with the short straw on salespeople.

Brought car in for recall on Weds. Found out needed rear struts. Ok lets do it, parts wont come till Saturday, thats fine, go ahead do it. Saturday after time it was supposed to be done call them to find out. Part was sold to someone else, we wont have it ready until maybe Monday Why did I, the customer, have to call and find this out?

I was devastated after I totaled my car. Dan, and everyone at Long Subaru, made the process as painless as possible. To complicate my situation, I was stuck working in Boston, but Dan worked closely with my parents and trusted mechanic to coordinate test drives and an inspection. When the first car we wanted didnt get full approval from our guy, Dan found another one immediately [thank the gods] that was actually better than the first one my folks drove. I was finally able to test drive the second one and loved it so much, we bought it! Im really grateful for everyones help in what was a crazy and somewhat emotional situation.

Great service- fast and efficient. The body shop is second to none. Jimmy and his crew never disappoint. He has taken car of all my cars as well as my entire family.. It is never easy getting into an accident but he takes the time and care to explain everything and make it as painless as possible with rental cars, expediting the repair and to get you back into your own car as soon as possible. Whenever I get my car back it is ALWAYS better than before it was in the accident as they really go through it and are thorough with their repairs. I highly recommend it to anyone.

We lucked out by getting salesman Dan Angelone. We didn’t feel pressured to buy, like our prior experiences. He definitely loves what he does, and where he does it. His was a wealth of information on Subaru’s, and in particular the Ascent Touring model, that we purchased. Also, the Finance Manager was so helpful. We didn’t feel like we were getting rushed. Longs is awesome! The gas cap door mechanism on my ten year old Subaru came apart. I was unable to fix it myself. Longs took the car in and put it back together in 30 minutes and told me NO CHARGE! How often do you hear that!?

I have purchased 2 other Subarus from Long so I knew the type of service I would be receiving. I went on a Sunday to see what they had and went back on a Wednesday to buy it. I really wanted a silver vehicle but not with leather seats. The one they had was more expensive and had leather seats. I was willing to go with that but Kevin was honest enough to ask Do you really want to spend thousands more just for a color. WOW, an honest salesman. He was right, so I went with the blue one. Love my Forester and hope Kevin is still working when I need to get another one. I was a walk in and Kevin had an appointment so I worked with Matt as well. He went the extra mile to finish up the paperwork without blinking an eye. They all made me feel like family.

Just got a 2016 Subaru Legacy and had the easiest experience dealing with Long. I walked into the dealership to test drive some cars and luckily ended up with Lisa as my salesperson. She had some cars that fit everything I was looking for (features, budget, mileage, everything) and I only ended up test driving two, because I was so in love with the first one I tried. I put down a holding deposit that day and Lisa was able to accommodate the timeline I was hoping to stick to for purchasing. Long did the legwork for me with the bank (for the auto loan) and my insurance company. I honestly was left feeling like there was no way it could all be this easy, but it was. Lisa couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating; she and the others I dealt with at Long made this a very pleasant experience. I will certainly be going back in the future and highly recommend this to anyone looking for great value and stress-free car buying.

Shame on me for trusting my salesperson. I recently leased a new Forester from Long Subaru. I was really excited because after weeks of research and negotiating with different dealerships, I thought I had gotten the perfect deal. Heres the problem, my salesperson lied to me. Throughout the process, I repeatedly confirmed that I would not have to pay any money to Honda for the car I was returning. Melissa Spencer told me each time that I wouldnt and even pointed to numbers in the paperwork to show that this was the money allotted for the Honda. I dont really understand all the paperwork side (again, shame on me), so apparently there is nothing in the paperwork saying they would be paying the remaining balance to Honda. I tried talking to the people at Long Subaru, but they were sticking to the lies of my salesperson and now I have another bill to pay due to their dishonest practices. Buyer beware! They seem great, but are really just interested in making the sale at any cost even if it requires lying to you. Like they always say, make sure its in writing and that they can show you exactly in clear terms where it is.

So the employees are extremely nice, but they just started the Express Service for oil changes & tire rotation but I didnt want them to be booked so i made an appointment for 5:45pm yesterday for an oil change. I didnt leave until 7 pm which is ridiculous. I appreciated the snacks and refreshments but I made an appointment, I shouldnt have had to wait more than 30 minutes for my oil change.

The senior service rep was vague about what exactly was wrong with the car and the written description was just as vague. I guess they just wanted me to trust them with the $1500 estimate. It also was partly due to the fact that the service rep describing the problem wasnt the one who had worked on the car so there was a level of disconnect there. Furthermore, during the two hours that I was waiting I was not updated or kept appraised of what was happening with the vehicle. Otherwise it seemed professional and curtious.

Unfortunately, really terrible customer service. I brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotation last month, made an appointment through their website. When I arrived, one man was busy with a customer, and there were two other men just sitting there looking at their computers - neither of which acknowledged I was standing there waiting. When I finally got checked in, they took care of everything I requested but I ended waiting there for almost 2 hours which is crazy for what I was having done and there was barely anyone in the waiting area.. when i asked about the multi point inspection - how everything was, they FAILED to mention that I had a belt starting to show through one of my tires and told me they were in the yellow zone!! (which none were - they were all extremely worn) The only reason I found out was because I went to get an inspection elsewhere two weeks later! This made me realize they didnt even rotate my tires because they wouldve been able to see the HUGE safety hazard if they did.. They put my car and life in danger by not mentioning the severity of my worn tires. Very very upset with their service and I will not be going back. I truly wish I could get my money back for wasting my time there.

Good price on the new car as well as the trade in. Met with Ray Brien who helped me with the finance paperwork and all was done in about 1-1/2 hours. Also met both the sales managers who were personable and friendly. Buying a car doesnt need to be rocket science and it feels like the people at Long Subaru understand that.

Walking into the dealership, we gave the name of the sales representative we wanted to speak with (my son had purchased here from Matt). The man who greeted us went to find Matt, and took us to the lounge to wait (very nice lounge in the service department- I will be able to use their open wi-fi to work while getting service there-- but if its a long service, they give you a loaner vehicle so youre not trapped there!). Matt, our sales agent, asked questions, listened to what I wanted and helped narrow down my choices. He brought up examples of the cars for me to look over. He was open about pricing, never once inquiring if we were trading until we had made the decision to buy and he had already told us the price we would pay for the purchase of the new car..The finance manager, Ray, was very detailed in his rationales for what would be worth our extra money (and what wouldnt) instead of just selling us all the bells and whistles. He asked what kind of driving I do, and figured out the potential mileage so he could answer our questions with the best personalized answers for an informed decision that was best for us.Weve been to other dealerships, where the sales people try to undercut each other, and even talk disparagingly about other dealerships (that sell the same cars!). One of the last dealers we went to wouldnt even give us a ball park price for the vehicles we were interested in until we brought in our trade-- I mean excuse me, but what does my car have to do with the price of your car, unless some creative numbers come into play?Long Subaru was honest, no pressure and pleasant to deal with. You really feel like part of a family when you go there. If youre planning on a Subaru, it is well worth your time to investigate Long, and interact with the professional and pleasant sales team they have there.

We went to two other Subaru and one Toyota dealerships before coming to Long Subaru. We were replacing a 20yo Subaru Outback that we were very emotionally attached to, so we were a bit sensitive, unsure of what we wanted, etc. Scott Brill was fantastic - answered all our questions and was completely laid back. His calm and stress-free manner made it so much easier to make a decision. He put me and my husband at ease during a process when we really needed that. The small friendly feel of the dealership helped too - not as overwhelming as other places we considered. The little things (lotion in the ladies room) are really important when making a large purchase like this. We actually decided to buy from Scott/LONG before we decided which car we wanted. Scott was so totally available and helpful through the whole process, taking the time to sync my phone before I drove off. I felt extremely well cared-for and would recommend using this dealership to anyone!

** UPDATED REVIEW** We heard back from the dealership and they answered our questions politely and thoroughly. While we still disagree about some aspects, I am impressed with their professionalism and have therefore, updated this review. I still believe that others interested in purchasing a used vehicle should seek outside, independent feedback about pending maintenance issues (brake pads, tires, etc.) so these issues are known upfront. ORIGINAL review: I would not purchase a vehicle from Long Subaru. My husband and I thought we found a great deal on a 2015 Forester from Long. The vehicle only had 20,000 miles on it and was listed as Subaru Certified Pre-Owned. The showroom is lovely and the sales team seemed professional and helpful at the time. We bought the car in July 2018 and went full-out on the warranty, adding the Gold+ warranty to the already existing Powertrain. We started having issues after 9,000 miles and a couple of months- first, all four tires had to be replaced. However, we saw that those were pretty worn down when we reviewed the car so we thought it was reasonable but they should not have sold a car with tires that were due to be replaced soon. Second, our battery began dying and we needed a replacement. Three, both rear brake pads needed to be replaced. All of this after driving less than 1 year and less than 12,000 miles. I called Long Subaru to explain how this had been extremely costly and to see if any of the parts were covered under the warranties. They are not as per Subaru policy as wearable items- however, it is clear that they were nearly worn upon purchase. Gus, one of the sales team, told me brusquely told me it was not his fault, that I needed to be mad at someone else, and to call the Subaru dealership that did the work (we had it done closer to home). I was not mad, I wanted clarification on the warranty policy and to see if any of the above could be covered considering the limited miles and time that had been put on the car. Bottom line: the car they sold me had some issues, if you do purchase from them, make sure to see a non-affiliated mechanic to get the full idea of what youre purchasing, and extending the warranty is probably not worth-it as it doesnt cover the most common fixes. Disappointing.

This was not only my first Subaru purchase, but also my first time shopping at Long Subaru. I initially met by Lisa, who was very knowledgeable, a total professional. I asked for Matt, but found that he was scheduled to be in later in the day. Even with knowing I was there to see Matt, Lisa didnt skip a beat, answering my initial questions, demonstrating a CrossTrek and taking me for a test drive. Upon our return to the dealership, Lisa advised me when my wife and I could return and meet with Matt. The following day, we returned and our experience with Matt was great. Matt possesses great product knowledge and these experiences made us choose to purchase our Subaru. I would be remiss if I didnt acknowledge our good experience with Ray OBrien as well.

I went for an inspection knowing fully it would fail and why. Prepared to make repairs through Long, but just in case it couldnt be done before June 1st financially. I could tell the man who helped me was less than pleased I wouldnt spend money today to have them diagnose it in a way other automotive places do for way less or free. The inspection took over an hour. Lesson learned. After things are fixed elsewhere, I honestly will pay $30 to have it reinspected at the gas station than go back there to have it redone for free. I should add all other personnel I encountered were very friendly and helpful. It just seemed this particular man was displeased I wouldnt fall for a $159 diagnosis that AutoZone does for nothing. The generic, condescending response from whomever replies to these reviews just further proves theyre not actually there to be helpful.

Bought a 2015 Impreza at Long and have been getting it serviced there since. After yesterday’s service experience, I will no longer be going to Long. Agent taking care of me was was awful and rude. I had to wait an unacceptable amount of time to get checked out while my car sat out front and agent had my keys. It didn’t seem like they agent was doing any work to process my receipt.I need new breaks and tires and won’t be getting them done here. Also, don’t have any confidence that they are actually servicing car. I don’t have evidence of this but don’t feel like I can trust the service department.
