Purchased a revolver here and background check came up delayed. Salesman assured us he would call once approved. Not only did they not call, they told me it was still delayed when it was in reality approved when we called to check. When calling back on the 5th day after purchase they finally told me it was approved. When picking up at the store the reason they gave was they were too busy to call. Not only that, the young salesboy Alex and his manager were very rude about the whole thing. I have been a customer since the early 70s and I will never step foot in another one of their stores over this. If they are too busy for the customer let me help lighten their load by giving them one less.

Academy is always quick. They stay busy so help usually needs to be tracked down but always friendly. Overall good experience, as usual.

Purchased fishing licenses. Fast and friendly. They were out of academy chairs, someone assisted me with going to the back and getting what i needed. Will be back to this academy in the future

Worst customer service ever. The short little Asian lady that was apparently the team lead and externally rude to me. Figured she could have at least looked like she liked her job. All she did was text on her Apple Watch and not even look up at me when I was talking to her. She said she had worked there since 2006 but maybe that’s why she hates her job because she’s not going anywhere else in life. Everyone else was 16 and also looked like they hated their jobs. Very poor customer service. Extremely disappointed.

Would love to see the reloading section come back to life. I realize powder and primers are hard to find, not knocking Academy for that, but other things like shell holders, scales, manuals, dies. Ive seen it slowly deminish over the past several months and have seen nothing being replaced... Come on Academy, get it together.

The store is huge, with plenty of aisle space, and a greeter at the door. A young shoe salesman was very helpful, and I appreciate the personal service. My usual Academy on 59 at Shepherd now seems cramped and, well, shabby. Access from 45 going South is problematic.

Store personnel were great. Well staffed at registers. Online was less helpful as it stated a lot of items were not stocked and had to be ordered and shipped. After doing curbside and seeing size was too large for my child, I returned it and went to the aisle and discovered plenty of stock. Seems as though online website is trying to get customers to purchase more expensive items of same brand name. Definitely will not shop Academy website again.

They have a variety of things we stop in to look at. Shoes, sales on menswear, and camping supplies.

Was a great store once upon a time. The gun counter looks like a ghost town, ammo is always gone. Funny the pawn shops have ammo and guns. No excuses.

I was impressed with the size of the store and their diversity of items, however, I was dissatisfied with the cleanliness and disorganized isels. I came in looking for swimwear and they were out of stock of the size I needed. I wish that they would keep up on their stocking so I wouldnt have wasted my time coming in. Every time I get in line to check out, their cashiers take a very long time to get through the entire line. The staff was friendly, however. They tried helping me out to the best of their abilities and I appreciate that very much. Would I come back? Yes, but only for select items as their prices here are a bit high.

Well-stocked for the most part. We shopped there a lot when our children were young, now not so much. We were looking at shoes.

I would like to thank Stefani Schmidt in Customerservice at the Webster location. I didn’t realize there was damage on my pellet smoker till I got it home. I called and talked to her and she said they had one ready to go. I went back with the damaged one and they gave me one that wasn’t damaged. It was one of the better experience’s I have had with Customerservice. Thanks so much for the great service Stefani.

Went to find comfortable work boots and walking shoes that actually fit my WIDE feet.It took quite awhile to go through and find items that were actually in stock but, Mission accomplished!

Best place to buy sporting goods due to the top quality of the brands they carry combined with the best prices anywhere.

I bought a pair of sneakers online and they came from this store. The sneakers were as pictured and it was quick delivery, but one of the sneakers came with a theft sensor. Now I have to either send them back or find a way to take it off myself without damaging the sneaker which is an inconvenience.

Ok selection. Dont ask employees for help though as you wont get anything useful in return ...

Why is Academy still completely wiped out of everything? I dont blame this store, but there must be something they can do, if your suppliers are falling short, buy from local vendors or do whatever you have to do in order to bring needed products back to your loyal customers, sell used guns like you used to, allow small time producers a chance to fill the empty shelves, dont just shrug your shoulders and say Covid thats getting too old to keep using as an excuse, ...... Come on Academy, sell me something!

This is definitely one of the cleaner stores but very dissatisfied with the lack of employee assistance. We shopped the bikes for 30 minutes without a single associate helping. We ended up wheeling the display to the register and bought it instead.

Feels like the Walmart of sports stores. I mean I like the place. Everybody seems friendly, but why are the lines so dang long and slow. Is it just me or do the clothes seem of the lower quality than other stores?

I was searching for womens work boots, seeing as to how Houston and the surrounding areas are known to be the plant capital of the world. I was disappointed to find a few lace up options, but only one pair of narrow stiff leather Durangos in stock.
