The best store in Wenatchee for Magic the Gathering lovers. The shop is called Sanctuary because the owner wants everyone to feel welcome and that sentiment is felt the second you start conversing with the owner. Always an informative experience and you can tell the proprietor really cares about his customers and his shop. All together this is a wonderful shop that I have supported for years and will continue to support.

The owner of this store does not respect Covid restrictions at all. I pulled up to his storefront and in the 5 minutes I sat in my car waiting to go inside, I saw 3 different people walk in without masks. It’s also the only storefront in the shopping center without a mandatory mask sign on the door. I walked up to the storefront to peer inside and saw the store was filled with people not respecting restrictions or wearing masks. Needless to say I ended up driving 10 minutes across the bridge to Cave Collectible Gaming in East Wenatchee where I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the owner was wearing a mask and properly respecting the law but he was also very friendly and had every item I was looking for plus more in stock! I will be going to Cave Collectible Gaming again but not Sanctuary. Ever.

I was looking for a local card shop to support small businesses in these crazy times. I stumbled upon Sanctuary, and was unfortunately disappointed. Owner is a know-it-all and has zero regard for Covid. Owner thinks his political views are law and passionately lectures you if you bring up something he remotely disagrees with. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Even after Covid, I will not be returning to this store.

NOT COVID SAFEI recently moved to Wenatchee after retiring from the military and decided to check out the local game store. Upon entering, the owner Thaddeus greeted me courteously, though I was surprised to see he wasn’t wearing a mask. I mentioned that I was new to town, and was looking forward to Magic events starting up again once the pandemic was over. Thaddeus quickly assured me that he had been holding events regularly, and would continue to do so, regardless of any restrictions imposed by the governor (who Thaddeus clearly holds in great contempt). He went on to passionately explain that COVID wasn’t actually a public health crisis, but rather a public policy crisis, and that in fact it has a lower death rate than the flu.Having played Magic for over 25 years, I’ve had occasion to visit dozens of local game stores all across the country, and never have I been to one where the owner so clearly wore his politics on his sleeve. In earlier times, I wouldn’t really have cared about an owner’s political views. But now, with COVID having killed a quarter-of-a-million Americans in just eight months (influenza averages between 12,000-61,000 fatalities a year, by the way), I can’t ignore the fact that Thaddeus’s disassociation from reality is actively dangerous, and places the lives of his customers, their families, and anyone they come into contact with at risk.Suffice to say, even once the pandemic is over, I would not feel comfortable spending money in this store. It looks like there’s a small shop 30 minutes away in Leavenworth (Krampus Kave) that I might try. Otherwise, I see there’s a very highly-reviewed store 90 minutes away (yikes) in Ellensburg (Central City Comics).

I came here as a child and it left such a positive impression. To this day when I make it back to town I go visit Thaddeus and connect. I only hope that my children will have somewhere safe like this place to hang out, learn, and make memories.

I go in to trade my MTG cards all the time. The owner is careful with my cards and never tries to undercut me. The store itself is clean and well set out for the customer to find what they need without getting confused. This is the only place I go to in the Wenatchee Valley for any of my MTG needs, I recommend it wholeheartedly

I’ve given this owner multiple chances. Just about every time I’m severely disappointed. Cards are usually way overpriced and cards you trade in well, you’d probably get better value ripping the card in half and selling it online. Customer service is typically lazy and rude, standing at the counter ready to buy or ask a question seems to be a burden on the owner, taking him away from him computer game he’s on often.

Absolutely friendly shopkeeper! Very helpful and was able to help get my girlfriend interested in MTG!Great crowd always there and everyone is super helpful. I highly recommend a visit if MTG is your thing.

If they made air freshener grenades this place would be a perfect testing ground. Smells like sweaty feet and dust rolled into one. Ive been playing MtG for 20 years so I can confidently say everything in this shop is overpriced. Sometimes by a little, and sometimes by a Holy Hell the balls on this guy level. The owner will both ignore you and then waste 15 minutes of your time trying to sell you on his gambling scheme-I mean game called eternal. Do yourself a favor and buy your cards online unless you enjoy the lingering odor of foot fungus clinging to your nostrils.

First off the store is highly over priced, secondly poor customer service, business man Thaddeus him self sits and plays on his computer most of the time, store isnt supervised and when some thing goes wrong he pin points others for his own problems.(no security cameras) very narrow minded man. Thaddeus promotes the game called eternal. where he sells you over priced packs and your supposed to make a deck out of 6 packs. it promotes young kids and others to gamble cards from their to pool to make their deck stronger. Im currently contacting wizards of the coast for it is illegal in state of the Washington to gamble. specially in a childrens card game.

The people here helped me get started playing magic and now I play all the time! Definitely reccomend taking a visit if youre interested in magic: the gathering but dont know where to start.

I participated and played at this location for two years, I was ripped off redundantly by the owner Thaddeus on several occasions! I would say the man targets young children and teens to keep his business running, simplly by keeping his own format eternal. An ripping off any customers that walks in with unfair deals over priced cards and packs. The man even wrongly accused me, threaten me due to theft that had happened at his shop. At the time sanctuary did not have surveillance. With his lack of credibility and circumstances by playing his computer then attending as a business man karma and reality might have paid him a good visit. Thaddeus doesnt play by the rules. He even has denied the London mulligan to be used at his shop! I was not responsible for the theft and banned any ways in his words (bad things happen when Im there) This isnt retaliation by any means this is simply a history lesson.on sanctuary where the knowledge is to not attend.the honor is to simplly look back the mental and exercise would be get in your car and drive to cave collecible an stay away from that foot smelling unmanageable Atmosphere called sanctuary.

I have been going to Sanctuary once or twice a year in the last 8 years. Its a shop really made for people who are going to comeback often. If you play games like Magic and live in the area there is no reason why you shouldnt already be a member. If you dont play Magic and are passing though, you will find yourself getting board very quickly. If I lived in Wenatchee, I would be a member.

Hobby shopping done wrong. Ive been to at least 15 different card/mini/board game stores, and this establishment ranks near the bottom. Poor pricing practices, poor business practices, poor environment. Technically it has hobby items you can purchase and a gaming space so it deserves a 1/5 as opposed to a 0/5, but when youre relying on technicalities, youre not in a good position.

Thaddeus is very knowledgeable.
