The best place around for all your fermentation needs! The staff are super helpful and passionate about making stuff with which to get drunk. If you want to make some alcohol from scratch but have no idea what you are doing, then consult YouTube on the methods and then get your sweet buns down to Northern Brewer for all the gear you need. The staff will fill you in on some tricks of the trade.

My dad has been homebrewing since I was young; for as king as I can remember he’s gone to Northern Brewer for ingredients and supplies. I’m still new to home brewing and have been using kits and equipment for Northern Brewer. It’s always been excellent! The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. One of my glass carboys shattered and spilled gallons of beer all over my kitchen. The staff at NB MKE was kind enough to replace both the carboy and the beer kit. I didn’t expect to be given such kind treatment for what happened, but NB MKE was super generous and kind. They have my loyalty!

I have been a home brewer for a lot of years. And I love going to this store for my supplies. I have yet to find a question that they cant answer.

I ordered my frozen grape juice a few months ago and was so excited to try my first wine from actual grapes. I got notice of the window to pick it up and left work early to drive down from West Bend to Milwaukee only to find out they sold my merlot to some else by mistake. No offer for any kind of credit or other wine. I am so disappointed as the opportunity will not come again for another year. Mistakes happen but it is how a business handles their mistakes that sets them apart and I was not impressed. There was barely an apology and no offer to make it up in any way. I will be ordering by mail from Morewine in the future.

The experience has been not too different throughout the pandemic. Just go to counter upon arrival give one of the guys your grain bill, gather the rest of your supplies and your on your way back home to brew that latest recipe.

Online order experience was a giant hassle. The re-Captcha on the check out was not working properly so that it would certify that I was a human. Currently, if you run into an issue with your order or check out there is no human to speak to from customer service. They have a text message number online and on their website? If you are having customer service issues you really dont want to text with someone. That is not a good option.They do have a customer service chat window which, Nate helped me get my order placed. It took a long time because he wanted a screen shot of the reCaptcha error I was getting (which he was unable to get on his end so he could not fix my issue). For some reason, the chat window does not follow you to each page, so when I went to the check out page to take a screen shot of the reCaptcha error, I could not send it to him. I had to back out of the check out page and reopen the chat window. It seems minor and Nate told me the work around but why should there be a work around when the solution is obvious. It just seems that the company that Northern Brewer has outsourced its online shop is not keeping up to speeds with the standard of 2 decades into the 21st Century. I understand that Northern Brewer focuses on brewing/winemaking equipment and not online sales but that makes it worse because there is a company whose sole focus is to provide an online shopping platform for NB.In the end, Nate was super helpful and had to create a different invoice with all the products I wanted and send me an email link to put the order through. Patient and helpful guy. The system was poor at best. He did mention issues because all the service people are working at home due to social distancing which I strongly support BUT we are 6 months into a pandemic and online commerce has been super important for just about everyone...why is it taking them so long to figure out a way for me to call customer support???Ill probably just order my needs from MoreWine in the future to avoid having to run into a similar issue
