If youre looking for rude people, bad service, and more rude people heres your store!We ordered thousands of dollars worth of material for pick up. Once we got there they could only find half. The employee said their system showed the rest was around somewhere. After standing around for over an hour, asking 3 people and 2 managers for assistance, I was told its out of stock.1) I live 2 hours away, called and confirmed before I made the trip.2) Was denied a refund so I could just go elsewhere (even though I used my Home Depot Card so not sure why??)3) Not that I asked, but wasnt even offered a discount for the complete waste of time.4) I understand retail issues, things happen and its no ones fault. I would like to think Im a decently patient and polite person. Yet somehow every moment I was in that store I was treated like lower class. I cant even describe the rudeness. I dont care how hard up I am, I will never be back to this store.

I came here to check out early holiday deals on tools and accessories. While some of the deals were already gone, there were still plenty left to choose from. As is typical, the staff were helpful and courteous. I have no doubt that I will return.

Home Depot has always been my go to. Used to love it. Now it just seems the employees either dont care or dont have a clue what Im asking or where anything is. I hate to say it but HD has slipped a bit. Ive become very fond of Bomgaars lately. Might be my new #1 if HD doesnt step up their game. Employee education and attitude have a lot to do with this.

Some weeks I think I spend more time here than at home

Walked in, went to the general area of what I was looking for. was immediately approached by a staff member asking if there was something I needed, and I told him I needed a certain fitting for my compressor, the staff member was helpful in personally showing me the location of the product as well as pointing out particular details and what to look for. Extremely helpful today, thanks guys.

I was looking for handles for cupboards. The lady was very helpful and I bought what I needed. Everyone was so polite.

I reserved a box truck here for an upcoming move. All trucks in Central Iowa were booked and the move took place on August 1. I reserved it July 24. They will not let you pay over the phone. They will not give you a reservation number. They will not send you an email confirmation. I called again four days later to make sure I still had the truck in my name. And I did! I breathed a sigh of relief. Drove down there Sunday, August 1, Went to the counter to collect the keys and the reservation had been yanked from my name and given to somebody else. We had people coming in from out of town to help us with the move. Nobody there could explain what had happened. But I have a pretty good idea. Because I was frantic, we went to the Home Depot store in Urbandale. A wonderful woman named Marilyn was able to give us a flatbed truck. Better than nothing! I literally was in tears and almost threw up at the store in West Des Moines because of the horrible predicament they put me in. I will avoid this store like the plague. Worst customer service ever! Absolutely disappointed beyond measure.

Don’t waste your time. Go to Lowe’s down the street! Lowe’s is more friendly and has a cleaner and more selective store.

Shout out to Lynn in plumbing! I was on the edge, and not sure what to do. She helped me think through the issue, figure out a solution, and I got exactly what I needed. Shes a genius and an angel, and the world should know! Turns out, I can do it. She can help. Great customer service!!

I will no longer shop here. This store completely messed up my parents countertop order and then had the nerve to request additional money for Home Depots error. It has been a complete nightmare for my elderly parents. They really took advantage of them.

I just had the worst experience at this store. In store advertised items are not in stock, customer service has no idea if/when they are getting more. Casher was the slowest and least engaged person Ive ever encountered. I had to ask her if she could put my items in a bag... And then she was visibly annoyed while bagging my items. Terrible and I will not be back.

The store is great, the help not so great. Nobody we asked for help knew anything and acted as if they were bothered, that we were asking where things were!!

I prefer Home Depot over Menards. They have true curbside pickup. Menards had me pick the cement from the shelf and they would get the 5 gal. gallon plastic pail. Then waiting over 2 days for then to get the bucket I just abandoned the order.

Found variety of stock at very reasonably prices. We were assisted by a young lady, Angie, at the Urbandale branch, who was both informative and extremely helpful.

I bought new power hedge trimmers for my husband and a new hammer! Wish I could remember the sales guy who helped with the hammer! He was mid 60s to 70. Very helpful personable and reminded me of my dad who just passed away! Made me smile and laugh!

Came into the store and the person at the service desk has to either be new or totally incoherent to the terms customer service. Alvita lacks all the above. She truly needs a coaching on tact and poise. She was extremely rude to a customer on the phone to the point of refusing her name.

We love this Home Depot more than any other in the DSM metro. Specifically because of Kate. Every time we bring all of our dogs here she gives them treats 😭😭😭

Out of the four stores in the metro, this is the best (don’t go north to Urbandale, though. You’ve been warned). The staff here is generally (but not always) more knowledgeable than other stores around. Oh, I miss the days when they hired actual ex-tradesmen to staff the departments. Alas, this is as good as it gets today, though. Having said that, it’s a big-box store, what more could you ask for? It’s pretty good.

This is the only home depot that had the patio set we wanted. 7 associates passed us without asking if we needed assistance. We finally got someones attention and they called another associate. The gentlemen that helped us was amazing!! He took us to customer service which was a fiasco. But everything worked out and we will receive our table in a week!

The gentleman helped me out & explained the product to me so I understood how to install it.

Couple of nights ago me and my husband went looking for something and wondered around and passed so many employees and not one of them ask us if he was finding everything okay. We eventually stopped a lady and she even said she noticed up walking back and forth🤦‍♀️.... went again the next day specifically looking for a dryer cord and we had the best 5 employees helping us find what we needed. They were all super nice! When they wasnt sure about something they didnt give up, they kept looking and asking others for help!! Thank you!!

Skip this one. It is poorly designed with all registers to one end of the building. The layout of isles and organization of store needs some help.

OK place to shop. Interestingly, items at a lower price are available online or ship to store, so if you absolutely need something, you can expect to pay a little more ... convenience fee, I guess.

Everything was handled appropriately, and store was fairly clean.

Have a wide variety of floor options, sinks, doors, lights, kitchen appliances, cleaning supplies, plumbing supplies, tools, flower plants, etc.

Don’t go here unless you want your tires destroyed by the massive potholes in their parking lot

Need to cross train more employees so theyre more knowledgeable in other departments so consumers do not have to wait around waiting for someone to help.

Horrible store. I kept asking help for the employees and they said they would call someone else. Wait 20 min no one showed up. Ask again and nothing. After losing 1 hr at the store and not being able to get help I just left and bought what I needed elsewhere.

Awesome how your plumbing department has no clue what abs pipe is. Even better you dont sell abs pipe except for a few adaptors. I guess you assume no one runs sewage lines. I shouldnt have to order it since it is basic material.

We ordered windows in April that were backordered. We received a notice that they were ready to be picked up. I went to the store to pick them up and they couldnt find them. They had to reorder them. Their whole order/delivery system is a mess.

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GREAT PLACE TO SHOP

Waited 25minutes for a saw operator, with three people announcing over intercom. They were out of 2 of the 3 items I needed.

This isn’t the same for all Home Depot, but I have had several issues with their paint department. The paint department said they could match any Benjamin Moore paint, this is not the case. I used my survey to give them my complaint. I would not recommend buying any paint products here.

Home Depot is always willing and able to help with any product-related question one might have. Their customer service is unmatched. They are my go to source for everything related to home improvement or maintenance.

Always happy with the help we get...they are eager to help us with our list of items we go with.

It is very clean and brightly lit so you may think you have walked into an asylum in a sci-fi movie, until you look at the shelves and realize you could build a housing development with just the supplies in this one store. Overall, nice store.

My husband went to Home Depot looking for empty paint cans. Your female paint associate told him the store didnt carry any and proceeded to walk away while my husband tried to ask her another question. He left the store and went to Lowes. He found empty paint cans and associates who were happy to help him. Three days later (tonight) he decided to start painting our bedroom. Before he left to get the paint, I asked him where he was going. His response was, I dont that same girl wait on me again. Im going to Lowes. Good answer, honey!! (Why become frustrated before you even start a project? Go to Lowes.)

I went to home depot, cause it was closer to me. Not one people would help me. She had something to do. I only been there twice and got same treatment. Its really hard to get help or find someone to help you at this home depot. Noone will offer to help you and they walk right pass you, they will go help a someone else. This Home Depot gets a negative 5 on customer service.

Ive been shopping at Home Depot for most of my adult life, but had a particularly great experience which prompted this review. I was looking for supplies to make my own macrame plant hangers and some employees who just happened to be taking inventory or stocking shelves in the aisle I entered ended up helping me find the various supplies, including looking at photos and supplies lists on blog posts on my phone and giving me recommendations of which type of cord would work the best for knotting and weight-bearing, talking me through which hooks worked best for what/where I wanted to hang them, etc. despite having no previous knowledge (and likely no experience with chatty single moms seeking crafting supplies in a hardware store). Todd, Josh, and Chad literally made my day and it was one of the best social interactions, let alone shopping trips I have had in a long time. My experiences have almost universally been great with the staff at this store, I always find the pricing fair, and if you like gardening they have a really good selection of healthy plants that always yield beautiful results for me. But this trip stood out even among the others, and during a time when any little faith in the goodness of people is welcome and so appreciated.

If theyre selection was a little bit more broad like Menards this would be awesome store I still enjoy it

Worst customer service ever. We were immediately badgered to wear a mask, no welcome to HD first, just straight into rude behavior and a hateful tone. I was there for a specific purpose, to get paint for a project on a Sunday afternoon. Is there anywhere else that sells Behr Ultra paint? Why are employees so hateful??????

This place sells roof flashing,crowns and NO storm collars. Had to go to Menards for a very important part of a furnace pipe or water heater going out the roof.

Home depot is a nice place . To go in get what u want. And get out. My husband needed a filter for or furnace. And mouse sticky traps

Employees sent me to pro-service desk for a text-to-confirm order only to find out that desk does not work on weekends :/

I found the furnace filters I was looking for after getting directions from an associate. I appreciate the fact that Home Depot requires customers and staff to wear face masks. The self service checkout also went smoothly.

Asked for help two times & it was same person. He looked at us after we explained & said so what do you want me to do? Finally said just cut the box open please. He did & walked away as i said thank you. On upside cashier was great!

Went there to get some decrotive rocks for a school project. Was told by 3 separate associates that decrotive rock was seasonal and they did not have it in stock. Looked outside anyway since the website said they did have it and there was half a wall full of pallets of decrotive rock bags.

Staci saved this review. She stayed on top of my return until it was completed, despite the roadblocks. Great customer service.That being said. I tried to return a battery I bought online, well within the 90 day window I originally bought it in, let alone the 180 day window its been expanded to. She told me for some reason they would only give me store credit, which I was not interested in. She called her manager, who seemed to be of no help, so she called the web department, who told me that this item fell in the restricted return list (it did not). Then the store had a blackout for 30 seconds and we lost the call. That ended up working out, because when she called back, we got through to someone who understood their was a failure in the system, and worked with their supervisor to override the error and put the money back on my card.Solid waste of a half hour of my day. Shout out to Staci and Maranda but this is why I shop at Lowes....

Great selection of tools with a variety of brands. Love their 90 day return policy also. Recently I had to return a framing gun I bought from there and I was a couple of days past the 90 days. Luckily they were understanding of the situation and worked with me. A small thing like that will definitely make me a returning customer.

I love the staff at this location. Always willing to help.

Usually I have a great experience when working with the Home Depot but my last experience may keep me out of there stores forever. I bought 1,200$ worth of carpet and got the free installation the guys that installed it did a good job but they broke the window in my sliding glass door. That was in November I have since had to fix it but the home Depot well not hardly ever talk to me about it much less help to replace it. If they wont stand behind the work of the people they hire then o will not do anymore business with them.

I think Home Depot and Lowes both do a fairly good job as far as Home Improvement Big Box Stores go; competitors like Ace or Porters are good for niche services; Menard, Inc., is generally poor quality, limited stock, & sells off the wall stuff for a hardware store (off-brand groceries?); theyre also the odd one out that doesnt support veterans. Cant go wrong with Home Depot though! Or Lowes for that matter!

I went to return a product today. I saw the signs at customer service that said they are asking that customers refrain from making returns. That makes a lot of sense to me. I asked the two employees behind the counter if they were doing returns, they said they actually were. I walked up to the counter and both employees acted as if i wasnt there. Then, a third employee walked up, stood between me and the customer service counter and had a conversation with the two workers while continuing to ignore me. This is the first bad experience I have ever had at a Home Depot. I will be shopping at Lowes for a while now.

Although this Home Depot didnt have what I was looking for, they did have a suitable alternative. However, I was surprised to see just THREE employees with masks during a pandemic, only two of whom were wearing them correctly. (The third had it around their neck.) This is especially disappointing because Ive come to expect more from Home Depot, which I had felt cared about its employees and guests enough to protect both.

I have had the most amazing experience. The absolutely best customer service from a Big Chain store I have ever had. Trisha at the Clive/WDM store and Monica at the Urbandale store could have very easily blown me off but they worked hard, used their critical thinking skills (hard to find in employees these days) and worked their magic to get me the patio furniture I wanted. These two ladies were excellent..

Im a big fan of home Depot tools. Like it better than then my snaps tools but this location doesnt ever seen to have what I need. Last time I went in to purchase a spark plug gaper they didnt have one like the others do. Same with an very rare socket size.

Employees were helpful. They knew exactly where everything was. I got what I needed and was in and out.

I like their garden center. Most of the staff are not very helpful though.

Went into by fans. Could not find the fans associate said that we must be out of them. Walked away really didnt do much more. Ask to talk to the manager the cashier called the manager. the manager said that he was too busy to talk to me he can take down my name and phone number. Yeah their inventory said that they had 12 fans in stock. I did up going to Walmart to buy the fans at a cheaper price.

I ordered a small item online.It was a little past the curbside service time.I didnt realize it stopped 3 hours before closing.I have a cast on my leg and were in a pandemic. I was hoping for a little customer service. Maybe they would offer to bring out to my vehicle......NOPE.....Im considering just cancelling the order.

West Des Moines is by far the best HD around.

It saddens me that you fell in with the rest of the sheep about requiring wearing the masks. I was trying to stay loyal with you. Now I will go to Menards. Its closer and they give an ongoing 11% rebate.

Went to buy my flowers here. I walked in the front door and went to shop in the garden center and was told I couldnt come in the door. I never left the garden center and was told I couldnt enter the building like several other people did. I went to pick my flower and it wasnt were I was told so went to do another lap and the incredibly rude worker just hanging out there told me I could not go back in that I needed to go around. I also had to step back twice as he continued to come closer to me. I was very uncomfortable with him advancing towards me in the manner he did... very.
