Largest Asian market in CT.Amazing selection, authentic products and great prices. They also carry fully cooked Peking duck and char su pork.
Needed Asia ingredients for a recipe, was able to find everything I needed...
Good prices compared to Asian markets in central and eastern Massachusetts (e.g. Boston). Not super clean or refurbished, but similar condition to other Asian stores Ive been in. My wife knows Asian markets better than me, and she says this is a good one. She was thrilled that they had chicken paws (feet) which our dog loves and have been hard to find at our local regular supermarket. Mens room had no soap. Gave them 4 stars because my wife said the place was good; my impression from a different cultural background was not as high.
Not H Mart. Wish vegetables and fruits were fresh and may be due to low turnover from Covid. Some fruits and vegetables were rotting. They need to clean up. I stayed away from other easily perishables like fish. You put your own grocery in the box available. Cashier does not help you. I got the sense that this is not a friendly place to shop. The plus is that there were a lot of sauces and vegetables used in Chinese and Vietnamese cooking. There were exotic tropical fruits but were rotting on the shelf.
This Place brings you into a whole New SHOPPING Experience ! The minute you walk into the electric doors you greeted by the smells of roasted duck! Fresh bake pastry and your eyes are stimulated by the array of products only found in the Orientals! Every thing is labeled in 2 languages and the store is large and spacious. The have a fish market straight out of the Orientals ! With all the fixings! The fruit and vegetables on market display are fresh! Try not to get stuck in the Tea or Noodle aisle! The have a oriental cookie and candy aisle that is unbelievable! The prices and not be beat! The have All Covid-19 protocols in place and the numbers ring system register keeps social distancing at its best!! Definitely my go to place for all authentic Orientals experience!
Has all different Asian food products as well as dishes pots and pans and fresh fish.
I think this is the largest Asian market in the area. Its the best place to go if you need specific soup bases (Tom yum) or a giant bag of rice. They have a great selection of hard to find produce, as well as packaged goods. They also have a nice assortment of dishes and utensils. I was hoping they would stationary and office supplies, but they dont. Still, worth the trip. There is really good Pho place in the same plaza.
I was returning an item, I gave the cashier my receipt and she didn’t credit me, when I got outside and checked my new receipt the credit wasn’t there. I went back and she stated she didn’t know I was returning it. Although it was clear I was returning it and she even said what the credit would be. I never received a credit and because I didn’t speak their language, the cashier continued to speak in a negative manner Plus their duck is tasteless and dry. The place stinks of fish and is filthy. Thanks
Big with a solid selection, but this place needs some better upkeep in terms of apperance.
Good vegetables, seafood, meats. All the sauces and spices you need
I felt like an supervised kid in a candy store with all of the great quality products and selections at this store. I was surprised at how big the place was and the amount of product to choose fro.. I would definitely recommend shopping here for fresh produce, seasonings, soup bases, desserts, and cooking and serving supplies. Though this store is lacking in Indian seasonings, this place will not disappoint for all other Asian needs.
I absolutely love this place. I am not and Asian grocery expert by any means, but I find something new every time I come. I also have to admit that theres like 30% of the merchandise I have no idea what it is. My favorite aisle is the potstickers. Theres like 50 different kinds.
2 registers open, remember that.+ 1 express, its normally the dude with glasses. Hes pretty nice, fast, and always tries to speed the lines up, as this place is popular. The overall food sold there is lovely. Their veggies are so cheap totally go there if u want cheap, good quality veggies.I suggest the bok choi, as its very flavorful, and nutritious (I think)-They also sell bbq pork, chicken, and sometimes duck. Already cooked & chopped. They sell seafood too.Good place for tofu (packaged individually).Noodles for lo mein also, very cheap, $1 per pack which can feed 2 ppl. (carbs aint good for u).
Grew up coming to this establishment 😁, truly the best Asian grocery store in the area. Huge variety of fruits and vegetables. Tons of candy and snacks. Amazing dry ingredients for building some of the most amazing meals in Asian culture. The place has a funk to it so be prepared. This place is not meant for everyone, its meant for quality chefs looking for quality ingredients. They have cookware as well, and bulk rice.
I love the fresh and low priced produce. They stock lots of Asian varieties and some conventional grocery staples too. This is the only place I know of in Hartford to carry Maesri brand curry paste. I come for healthy food at a great price. The fresh mushrooms here are my favorite. The Vietnamese prepared foods are worth stopping in for. They have the best price on quality Kimchi that Ive found anywhere in New England so far. I enjoy treating myself to unfamiliar foods, veggies and deserts too!
Great Asian grocery with good selection well priced. Could be cleaner but I dont live there. Pho Boston nearby for soup afterwards.
Any dish you may want to create you will find everything you need at an amazing price right here at A Dong. Highly highly recommend! Glassware is fantastic quality as well. All produce is very fresh and tasty. Do your research before hand you will not get much help in store as a lot of employees do not understand english well enough.
This is a great Asian market. I like going there to get all kind of tea, soy sauce and noodles. They have fresh vegetable sand fruits. U do not know many of the food they sell there. I wish I have an Asian friend who could point me in the right direction to try new things.
Love that I could find all things Asian
Never crowded. I usually go to buy fish. The selection and prices are good. Its always cleaned and the staff is friendly.
This is quite the gem in Hartford county. Worth checking out.
Best Asian market outside NY China Town
A veritable wonderland of Asian foods with surprises in every aisle. Definitely worth the trip if you are even considering it. Everything from fresh vegetables and fish to cookware, and a whole lot of tea.
So dirt. The fish I got so bad itThe staff thier they dont know what they do. They dont understand English.
Can always find what you need. I love the place but thats only because I come from places that dont have markets like this...
I love this store. I always liked Asian food, and the selection here is fantastic. Prices are good, the store is clean and organized, and I have no trouble finding any kind of Asian foods that an American such as myself would want.
Great grocery store. Fresh food, cheap prices. Attentive to pandemic requirements.Nice!
Cheapest Laundery here.Very good performance love it
A little smelly in there but they have what Im looking for - decent vegetables.
If youre an Asian aficionados and like to dabble in the cuisine, this place has basics, intermediate and expert foods to offer. Only advice is dont go expecting a ton of English interpretations available. It is fun to guess what the foods are, happy hunting!
A great resource for people interested in cooking Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai dishes, large selection but might require a little research before shopping, many products not English oriented and personnel not fluent in English!
Great place for Asian cuisine materials. They have almost everything I want and I think they are very reputable in the area.
Fantastic Asian market experience!!! Until you get to the check out, plan on spending 20-45 minutes in line.
Great staples, vegetable selection, bakery, meats.
Theyve got Indomie me goreng by the case.5/5 stars ez
Great Specialty Food...💯
Filthy. Dirty. Stunk. Will not go back again. Better Asian grocery stores elsewhere.
A little bit too Chinese for my standard. Smell inside is pretty strong and not exactly a pleasure (the covid mask was welcome). Product selection is wide and you can find items that are not available in regular market s. Not particularly impressed by the prices.
Great selection of pantry items, snacks, dishware, gifts
Amazing selection, great prices
This is one of the best Asian market in the greater Hartford area. They carry an assortment of Asian foods and products, primarily Vietnamese and Chinese. I especially love the freshly prepared products they sell. It can get crowded on weekends, so either get there early on Saturdays and Sundays or go during the week. One of the creative things they do is offer boxes to carry your haul home (like they do at Costco), or just remember to bring your own bags.
Good place to visit for many asian food products as well as vegetables and fruits.
Theyve got hidden gems everywhere! My favorite part of the store is in the rear most part of it. Walk to the back wall and be amazed by how many types of instant noodles you didnt know existed. You can literally try a new one every day for weeks and not repeat one if you dont want to!
Always a good selection of fresh produce and prepackaged items. Sometimes not everything Im looking for is in stock, but usually there is some alternative available.
I always like to shop at A Dong. After this time, I will not buy any Salmon heads from there. I was given a rotten head. The fish meat was rotten badly and part of it came off. It is not cheap. Pleasr be considerate and ethical, and should not sell the rotten meat to your customers.
No way can anything top the sensory delight of the duck and pork waiting for you as you enter. The produce, spices, fish, meats and frozen foods tempt. The aisles filled with sauces, both mysterious and familiar appeal to the wanna be cooks, and the checkout process is very organized to maintain social distance.
Hartford area folks know A Dong Supermarket as a local treasure. Its a great oriental market worth exploring -- A Dong sells great vegetables, fish, sauces, candies (guava hard candy), noodles (udon and ramen), and absolutely great prepared foods (try the braised pork).
Very happy I found this place they have all the fresh fruits and vegetables I love..
Love it, you can find anything
Has alot of essentials and has the coolest name ever!!!
Low sense of cleanliness, both in store and the restroom. Lax mask wearing policy. Infuriating behavior of the staff in the fish section. Definitely overpriced in many items.
Great place to buy Asian food and products. This store is the biggest of its kind in the Hartford area. Generally reasonable prices. Good selection of fresh vegetables, meats, tea, noodles, snacks, condiments and frozen food items. Weekends can be quite busy in the store.
Fresh vegetables 😋
Easy in easy out great roast pork
Been going to this store for almost 20 years!
This place is amazing! I love it so much. I go there all the time, and the smell brings back so many memories. This place is phenomenal and would give it 10 stars if I could.
Extensive inventory and diverse foods. We love going to the bakery for the fresh coconut buns and other goodies.
Best selection around. Excellent service always.
This place always has what Im looking for. Always trying new recipes and those niche ingredients exist here whenever I need them. Just gotta look.
Kind of pricey and the line is too long
Found every thing I was looking for
Great selection!
Mostly go there for fresh fishes and those are fairly priced with good quality. Bought salmon there few times and impressed overall. They will even cut and slice the fishes as your convenience
WOW, really big place with fresh produce and meat/seafood. I consider myself knowledgeable and worldly when it comes to food, but had no idea what three quarters of stuff was. Seems mostly Asian, not Indian. Its a full size supermarket and even has hot food. The only downside is I have no idea how it is organized, so be prepared to spend some time looking for stuff.
Many choices store has gotten cleaner and more organized and bathrooms have been remodeled which the old bathrooms were terrible so its a plus .
Variety of asian stuffs in the store.
Good international grocery selection
Great store for Vietnamese groceries and other Asian products
All the special Asian cooking ingredients youre looking for, vast selection
Great Asian market
Great place to shop and friendly service
Best place to go in central ct for asian/west indian grocery and dry goods
I love it here prices are decent and they have literally everything you can think of. Grab a banh mi theyre good oh they have duck and chicken made that day 🤤
If youre looking for asian ingredients, this is the place to be. Do not be squimish. There are many very foreign items/ scent.Be adventurous and have fun.
I had everything I needed everything changed around a bit but it was still good
Sprawling asian market with roast meats and sweet and savory pastries
If you need Asian ingredients, it’s your only option other than the small Maruichi Japanese market in West Hartford center. If they offered more fresh grocery and the store was cleaner, I would’ve given 5 stars.
Variety of hard to find asian grocery items. Fresh fruits and vegetables are delivered there few times a week. They also have a variety of asian sweets goodies. Huge varieties of imported frozen products as well.
Unbelievable fresh produce fish and meT. Awesome selection of dumplings
Massive and amazing selection of asian (and spanish for some reason) goods spanning across many asian countries. They will likely have what youre looking for. And if not theyll have substitutes. Definitely coming back for some fresh fish sometime.
Great place for all your Asian needs from fresh bakery goods, produce, fruit, seasoning, variety of raman, kitchen utensils,bowls,etc..
Big places for Asian foods
Great selection of all Asian cuisine supplies. Reasonable job promoting social distancing.
The best place to get any asian grocery. I really enjoyed going there to get the items I need to make some spicy soup. I really like the various items and the staff is always good and willing to help with anything I need. Just an awesome place. On a scale 1 to 10 they should have a 12. I am happy to do this review for them. Must stop shop for food as well as cooked food too. Filipino, Chinese or any other Asia foods.
They have a variety of stuff, but the place is very dirty and has a horrible stench as soon as you walk in. The costumer service is alright, but all I can say is the smell is so bad.
You can get great deals there for asian products n fresh veggies.
Always a pleasure to shop at A Dong Supermarket! 🤩
Got a car damage in the parking lot. There is no store policy for this. No camera, cheap carts. They dont care about customers car. Cheap people. Overly priced on some products. Horrible purchase experience.
Walkin in theres like walkin into a different contry. My 👪 & i love the experience. Youll like it if u can deal w/a smell thts kinda weird.
