I was call around looking for a seasonal item that was now out of season and not having much luck until I called here. They were very nice on the phone. They varied the had the item in their system but it was stored away. They took my number and went into storage to find it then called me back to say it would be waiting for me. At pick they were friendly and helpful. You don’t get a lot of stores willing to put in extra effort these days.
My husband and I ordered a grill from Larsens Ace Hardware. During delivery there was damage done. Larsens went above and beyond fixing the issue and did it with lightening speed. The manager that I spoke with was extremely apologetic and had great communication with me until the damage was fixed, which was the next day!! I highly highly recommend them for any of your hardware needs.
Larsons is the place to go for DIY home repair supplies...much more convenient than dealing with HD or Lowes. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, lots of SKUs, and Aces rewards program all set Larsons apart.
Larsen Ace Hardware hours are Monday-Saturday 8am-6pm and Sunday 9am-4pm. When you use your Ace Hardware rewards on purchases you will receive rewards.
Great local Ace Hardware free 1/2 hour parking. If they dont have it they will get it . Plenty of help on the floor to answer your questions. Also have screen and storm window repair. Pro tip repair before you buy new.
I tried to return an item during the peak of the pandemic and they were not taking returns. They said I was going to be able to return it whenever the pandemic was over. Well, It is still not over but they are not accepting my return because the product expired. It is not my fault if they refused to take it back when I timely tried to.
Very helpful by cutting a pane of glass for my basement window. 😄..still required mask wearing.😞
Larsens is a top-notch hardware store that reminds me of the ones I went to as a kid with my dad. They have every nut, bolt, part or bulb you can imagine, and a knowlegeable, helpful staff that you generally wont find at big box home improvement stores. Love this place!
The best place to get keys made and find anything you need for home projects
Needed blue propane called ahead and the girl set one aside. They looked to have a wide variety of tools and materials needed for home repairs.
Outstanding customer service. I needed a part for my grill, and no store near my home had it. I called this store, and it was in stock. The manager, Kathy, double checked the part number to ensure it was what I needed, and held it for me - I live nearly an hour away. Thats what customer service is all about. I could not be more impressed with the pleasant professionalism.
They are knowledgeable. They have what I need every time I go there.
Super helpful staff. Very knowledgeable about tools.
Love this place and its mostly because of the staff! Everyone is always so helpful! I only wish they didnt close so early. Other than that, no complaints!
The staff are a bit of a mixed bag, they can be either super friendly or super rude depending on the day and time. This morning at 9 AM, many of the people working gave off the impression that they want you to die, which prompted this 3 star review.
The selection of items is unbelievable. Staff greet me and help me find what I need within seconds of entering the store. Prices are as good or better than box stores. Convenient location. BEST hardware store ever!
Wont be doing more business here. They misquoted pricing on screen repair by 50%. They then added charges for work without prior consultation. Hard to imagine a worse customer experience.
Staff is always willing to help, dont turn so run the other way like other home improvement stores
These guys go above and beyond. I was impressed by how familiar they are with their own inventory, and how knowledgeable they are when it comes to helping find the right tools and materials for any job. Had a great experience and will definitely be coming back for my next project!
Just went in on the off chance I would find the grill mats I’d ordered online. I asked Nick where their grilling accessories were and headed over. A few minutes later, Nick came to check on me to see if I’d found them . We both searched the shelves, he then radioed for assistance, and finally he looked it up in their system - he just refused to give up and I thoroughly appreciated it. I’d already been to Walmart and their sales assistant’s shrug and “I don’t know” is what brought me to my local hardware. Thank you, Nick!!
Well stocked store, with those odds and ends that old houses need unlike the big box places. Staff is super helpful too.
Ive been going to Larsen Ace since I moved to town five years ago and have always found the staff friendly and helpful. The pricing is competitive with the bigger stores and Im happy to support a locally owned shop.
Each and every time I walk into this store, Im greeted, assisted and I leave happy. Its an old fashioned hardware store with folks who help, plain and simple. Id rather drive to the center of town to Larsens than walk from my home to Home Depot (which is 5 minutes). The experience is so superior. Highly, highly recommended.
I love walking into a real hardware store: the hardwood floor beneath your feet, the faint sharp smells of fertilizer or paint thinner, the gleam of brass and chrome. But its the people who keep me coming back. The folks who work here are able and willing to take the time to help you, and they always seem to have just what you need. Yet its small enough that I can bring my kids without worrying about what theyll get into. An A+++ experience every time!
Perfect hometown hardware store. Customer focused and small enough to not spend a lot of time trying to find something.
Extremely helpful courteous staff.
Really nice hardware store. Dan helped me navigate the always complicated hardware section to find a series of screws and wall anchors. The lady at the counter was super friendly. Over all good experience. Parking was free because of a less then 30 minute visit.
This is a local Gem of a place thats been around in various incarnations forever. The staff understands the kind of houses that are in the West Hartford Center area, and can recommend the right product or materials for the job. Theres also a decently stocked housewares section. Since the new owners have taken over, they have significantly increased the amount of stock available in the store, so theres much less of a need to have them special order you something, or to look elsewhere. If youre doing a moderate level project, most likely this place will have what you need in stock. The store has definitely been updated and modernized, but it still feels like that local place thats been a fixture in town forever.
Ordered one item they had listed as in stock for curbside pickup. 4 hours later, item is still not ready for pick up. I understand everythings chaotic at this time but this is a bit much. Had to cancel my order.
Good Selection of MANY Items...[ShowerCurtainRod choices are actually lacking, in that the ONE Model (adjustable, in two lengths and finishes) didnt work properly at all... a Fixed Rod (cut to the correct length) with Cups attached to the walls would have be Much More Convenient, and would last DECADES (instead of seconds)...]
Theres just no way that at the big box stores youd ever get this level of knowledge and helpful friendly service. They are just the best of the best. Dont assume that because they are a small shop, they wont carry the variety of the big box stores. They have more than youd think and the prices are good too. All in all, these guys are fantastic and I highly recommend them.
Went in to get a can of paint. Immediately greeted as I walked in and was assisted quickly. Staff took the time to answer my questions about different paint types, and helped me choose which company to use (not the most expensive one based on the job I was doing). Great experience.
This is a great place to shop for home hardware, household items, and various fun odds and ends. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
I am a widow, living alone. Staff here is beyond helpful, polite, professional. New store expansion in process. Expect completion in about a month. Not a big box store, but very complete. Worth checking out.
These guys are always very helpful. Its refreshing to do business with knowledgeable and friendly staff. You dont get this experience at big chain hardware stores. Highly recommended.
I needed a number of items, including a portable space heater and toaster oven, and I was able to get everything I needed, without dealing with Amazon estimates of when I would get them. Larsens Ace Hardware in West Hartford had several space heaters, and an associate helped me pick out one that fit the space I have in mind, then took me to the outside extension cords and appliances. Regardless of what you are buying, someone will invariably walk you right to the item(s) you need. Parking on the Brace Road lot was crazy-full, but I managed to find a spot directly at the extreme other end of the lot from Ace, so they took the trouble to put my items into a large, strong bag. The heater didnt fit, so they tied twine and fashioned a handle around its box. Home Depot is unlikely to give you that kind of individual attention. Many cheers for Larsens!
If I could give zero stars I would! Don’t ever rent a rug doctor from them!!! I rented one it didn’t work so I brought it back... All Kathy the manager said is oh “we haven’t had any problems with it” “ I’ll put a repair ticket on it” never apologized or even offered a refund... it didn’t work so I paid for something I couldn’t even use... she wouldn’t even trade it in for a different one.. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SUCH A WASTE OF MONEY!
Always good customer service
This store is absolutely fantastic,, staff are super knowledgeable and very welcoming. The best part is they take the time to help you. This seems to be the one of the last places that remembers that you are the customer and want to help you. Kathie spent half an hour with me today going over options for multiple projects I have at home. She provided suggestions and made sure I had everything I needed. This wasnt the first time, when we were trying to figure out a gameplan for our lawn a gentleman helped set us with a plan for seeding, fettling etc, taking his time without a rush. We later found out this was the owner of the West Hartford and Canton stores. I cannot recommend this store enough, great folks who help take the anxiety out of home improvement, with a friendly, old school vibe, great coupons too. Thank yall
Great service, good prices.Soooo many items beyond hardware.
Thank God I live close to this ACE.
Very rude staff!! We just moved to town and after 2 visits here, we will never return.
Great local hardware store. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. And they sell anything and everything you could want for your home (except maybe for lumber).
Super friendly, honest and helpful. Appreciated the conversations and recommended AJJ. Thanks! 😊
Great customer service! Always helpful and always have what I need.
You know what they say about Ace where theres a friendly face...well, the crew at Larsens definitely rates for 5-star smiles & help too!
They will put it in your hand in 2 seconds flat, 3 seconds flat if its obscurely old-fashioned and kept in the basement. Theyll re-screen, cut glass or special order quickly and cheerfully, and call you when its ready. Fabulous gifts in the small but mighty housewares section. Need an upholstery screw, one of those net tents for over food platters at a picnic, solid brass curtain rods cut for an oversized window or advice on which cleaning product to use? Go to Pfaus, and get everything else there too. Theyre so quick, you park for free behind the store in West Hartford Center because youre in and out in minutes. Theyre Ace, so the prices are good, too. What more do you want?
Not as helpful as Katz in Glastonbury
Very knowledgeable. Willing to help over the phone without being paid.
Alot of stuff and experience in a very neat, organized and orderly store. The people who work there are very knowledgeable and courteous. Allways a great experience.
Great customer service that has continued unaltered since the old mom-and-pop hardware store that was here before.
Always friendly and ready to answer any of my questions.
A great local hardware store . Great friendly service and competative prices.
Always helpful and able to assist me for whatever project I walk in with
Staff is very knowledgeable and polite
Old time feel. People are eager to help
The staff is always cheerful and eager to help.
Very friendly and helpful every time we go there
ALWAYS have what I need, especially those hard to find hardware items. Very friendly and helpful staff too!
Way better than big stores like homedepot and Lowes. Friendly and helpfull!
They have a personal touch that is truly difficult to find. Top notch customer service is appreciated and the prices are reasonable for such convenience and individualized attention.
Just like my old town plainville hardware Jean east st across from parsons Buick mr.rapacky went to plv.hardware 40yrs
Hi-we are a West Hartford, CT family struggling with many issues that are present today; having 3 young children, 1 with diabetes, and an elderly and disabled family member under our care. Not too long in the past, you could exchange a damaged product for cash, no questions asked. Now, if you dont have the receipt, you will get a store credit, and the entire amount of your store credit MUST go towards a purchase in the store--no change whatsoever will be rendered. When we recently misplaced the store credit sheet for $20.99, the owner, Russell, and his daughter, refused to honor the store credit, even though they remember issuing it to us this past week. I know that times are tough all around, but I will never use this hardware store again. Unless you are financially flush and can afford to have your purchases blown-off by Pfaus Hardward if they are damaged/you made the wrong choice on drill bits, for example, then go elsewhere for hardware. Standing by your product and standing by your word, whether it be via a return policy or a lost store credit from a very recent, frequent customer is the least one could expect when frequenting a store. Good luck, shoppers, and beware of the Pfaus new militant regime!
Very nice and friendly service.
The staff is very helpful.
Knowledgeable helpful staff.
Nice staff
