I went today to exchange a diploma frame at the bookstore. My dad purchased it for my doctorate, but the frame that came was poor quality and wasn’t fully painted/had other quality issues (see photos). I went today to exchange my frame since it was quite expensive ($220) and I wanted to make sure I had a frame without issues that I could display.The manager Spencer working there was immediately dismissive and didn’t listen to a word I said. He had an attitude for no reason. I said that I wanted to exchange because the frame wasn’t fully painted on the back. He said that all the frames will be like that since it was the back of the frame and I shouldn’t care. I showed there was some paint on the front as well that I wasn’t happy with. He said he’d drop ship a new one. My mom who was with me asked if we could have some confirmation that we left this $220 frame with him in the store. She didn’t want a mistake to happen and have no proof that this exchange happened in case the drop shipper messed up and didn’t send it. She wanted an exchange receipt. He laughed at us and said he can’t give a receipt. My mom said she just wanted something since it was an expensive frame and drop shippers sometimes make mistakes. He left without a word and came back with a piece of paper and wrote our confirmation number on it, which wasn’t helpful as we already had an email with the confirmation number from when our frame was delivered. She then asked for his name in case we didn’t get our frame and she jokingly said that he’d remember us since we were being a pain (since he had the WORST demeanor towards us). He said that he wouldn’t remember us and then walked away.I was shocked at how poorly we were treated over a simple exchange. The manager had no reason to have an attitude with us from the get go. He was dismissive of me from the start and didn’t want to help me at all. We spent $220 on my doctorate diploma frame and didn’t expect to be treated like this.

This is one of the more recognizable buildings that we encountered. The name is on the side of the building (a trend surprisingly not shared for many buildings, roads, and landmarks on Purdues campus) so we used it as an anchor point while exploring!The staff was a mixed bag. The cashier was friendly and quirky while assistants in the basement were a bit more blunt and reserved. The store was a bit of a mess while we were there (opened cardboard boxes discarded everywhere, random papers littered in the basement, signage guiding customers was present but obscure). I will mention that most textbooks were well labeled, which was appreciated by us! Some textbooks and items were not labeled or priced, but we simply asked staff for clarification.Overall an above-average bookstore. Most items inside are similar in quality to other above-average college bookstores, and as one might expect these items are similarly priced as well. Expensive, but competitive with other bookstores!

Its a neat place. They are 5 stars compared to another university store Ive been to. I like their competitive notebook prices, but they have some items that are more expensive than the same items elsewhere. I like it, so far

Always a nice souvenir location at Purdue for the 35+ years I have been associated with Purdue. I am sure book store still is good as well. Interesting they had a very large Harrys souvenir area in the back of the store. All good stuff and recommended if you are looking for good Purdue attire!

Merchandise variety not as good as Folletts/Purdue West, known to be out of stock/low on textbooks. About the only item I found here that was difficult to find elsewhere were higher-quality stitched logo emblem sweatshirts of thicker cloth material. Hey, they do have a slightly better variety of college logo decals.

A little small for a large public university; pretty crowded with long lines during fall move-in week

Pricey but standard for the overpriced college experience. Never had anything but pleasant interactions, despite the great displeasure that is buying textbooks. Sometimes have good rental rates but the best idea is to buy outright and sell at the end of the course. If you really want to rent, Amazon is king.

My daughter always finds her books here.The staff is polite. I even found a great hoodie for my son!

Prices are a little high, but its convenient and near campus. Plus, purdue merch.

They have many great Purdue products, many are too expensive to justify purchasing. Nonetheless, if you need Purdue apparel or to rent/sell textbooks this is the place ro go.

This review is specifically to the usps mailing service in the store. The service marked started at 9 AM, when I arrive there, the staff said he have some other issue to attend, so will open at 10 AM. Then, I came back at 10 AM, he said he havent finish, and will have to start business at 10:15 AM. This is a horrible experience to me, made your choice wisely!

Very pleasant personnel! Genie is one of my favorite employees. The one time I went into this location, I ended up spending way more than I expected on apparel. The three ladies were great at helping me find what I ended up loving!

Surprisingly limitted selection of fan-gear. I have visited others in other campuses that are much more comprehensive. If you waant Purdue gear, you may not be able to find what you want at this location.

This store had just about everything and they made purchasing during the most busy time of each semester a breeze. Fast and easy. I bought some Purdue t-shirts here and they held up well but were so inexpensive. I loved that. They also had a fountain drink deal through my bank. Thats one of those inquire within things. Great service and huge selection of school materials.

Wow wee this place is pricey. Your best bet is to hit the clearance section otherwise you are paying top dollar for school spirit. I guess thats common practice though among school book stores. Otherwise this place has darn near anything and everything Purdue. You can rely on that.

Great place for Purdue Apparel. They are locally owned and are a great place to shop. The state street location is larger with a better selection, but the a Northwestern location is good as well.They also are the main place for books at Purdue as well.

Walked in minutes before closing time but the young lady at the register still managed to keep a beautiful smile on and, believe it or not, it was sincere as her equally friendly manager was holding the door for our eventual exit.

Its very convenient, but the prices balance that out.Ive appreciated the postal service here—its easy to send packages, and they have envelopes/pouches and such for sale.The soda in the back is inexpensive and a good reason to visit.

The university bookstore is the classic destination for Purdue apparel. They often have items on sale for as much as 50% off and offer discounts when the Basketball and Football teams play well. They offer a wide variety of clothing but they are on the more expensive side since much of their inventory is Nike or Columbia.

Its a good book store with a big selection of Purdue goods. They have shirts for all of their big areas of study, including veterinary medicine, engineering, exploratory studies, etc. They also have a very good selection of affordable Purdue gear. The quality of some of their shirts are not quite as good as the shirts you can get at the other bookstores, but you pay for what you get.

Love going into a college book store! Go purdue !!

This place is a great one stop shop that has pretty much anything you could every need during your college career. They have a wide variety of books, gear and apparel that are sure to please just about anyone. My only complaint is the prices. While it has everything conveniently available, it does come at a slight premium.

Definitely serves its purpose. Great place to get university books and supplies. However, the price is a bit hefty for the average college goer. Friendly experiences and checking books back in are a breeze.

Good But Very Pricey. Look at other locations first, like The Discount Den, Walmart, or Online. Then come to here if you are looking for Apparel.

The best people work at this bookstore. I have worked with them for years to help me teach my sales class and they are professional, timely and courteous. Wide selection of Purdue stuff (e.g., apparel) and textbooks.

Absurd return policy. Purchased a textbook during the second week of classes, then dropped the class and tried to return the book. Was told that the last day to return was the Friday of the first week of classes (before I even bought the book!) The cashier was supposed to inform me of the policy, but didn’t. They said that the policy is also listed on the receipt, but how are you supposed to know that if you get the receipt after you purchase the textbook?Go somewhere else, there’s plenty of other ways to get a textbook that won’t screw you over. Friendly employees, laughable management.

Was helping as a mentor at the Startup Weekend at Purdue. The battery in my camera microphone decided now would be a good time to die. Just as I was getting ready to interview students!!Frankly, it was a small battery and I did not hold out hope for a replacement unless I drove 30-45 minutes to the local Best Buy.Someone recommended I try the University Book Store on campus. Literally a 5 minute walk from me. They did not have the same model number battery as the one I needed to replace, but DID have a comparable battery that worked just fine. Best part was, it was priced very fair. Most colleges seem as tho they jack up the prices. Not this one.People were very helpful, and store was super clean. 5 stars for sure.

Its your basic university bookstore, as in it sells as much merch as it does books.

This is a very good store for merchandise and essentials. Surprisingly, they stocked fountain pen ink and disposable fountain pens. It is like a better Office Max with apparel and gifts.

Rude cashier and worker ( older women and one other gentleman). As a Purdue Alum I spent a lot of money there. My daughter is starting Purdue this fall but after our last two encounters with extremely rude employees, we will not be giving them any more business.Two stars instead of one for nostalgic reasons only. They truly deserve only one star at best now.

Great staff. A lot of selection. If they dont have a shirt, ask and one can probably be made for the type of degree youre obtaining.

It’s a college book store what more can I say

That have a variety of items, which is nice. Sometime students work there and can get a little snotty with you for no reason, but the best part is if you call the people working the book area actually know a lot about the course and what books are required, so be sure to ask a lot of questions of you’re a students purchasing books!

Theyll have your textbooks and materials. Theyll be expensive and overpriced, but thats not the bookstores fault. In fact, they do a good job labeling the shelves to make sure youre buying the things you need for your specific class, and the staff are quite willing to help.The soda machine in the back too helps ease the pain a little when you visit :P

If your visiting campus this is an excellent place to stop and pick up a T-shirt, hat, or any sort of spirit wear since its located right across the street from the union (where youll find the visitors center). If youre a student trying to buy stamps, textbooks, lab manuals, or stationary this is one of the places you can go (but check amazon first). The staff is usually helpful so youll find what you need pretty quickly, but since its so conveniently located the lines at the register can get pretty long so you could be in there a while.

Decent store, prices are high on the PU merch but that is because of the Purdue branding. Prices are competitive for the textbooks though. Rental is a scam, just buy the book and resell it

My old 5 star review said...Super helpful little post office in the back, reasonable stock of stationary supplies up frontI have now downgraded the review after they refused a package because it was to large but would not specify what postal restriction disallowed them from taking it.I had to carry it back to my office and drive across town. The real post office took it and my money w/o complaint.I for one look forward to rule by our Amazon Overlords

They have what you need very generally for school. The basement is filled with books, which is good. And from what I’ve seen, they keep them mostly stocked. Of course the rushes at the beginning of the semester will have them running a little dry for books, but aside from that, they have hw essentials. However, I wouldn’t recommend buying notebooks from here or any essentials that you could get from anywhere else. They’re way overpriced.

I cannot support a store with an employee (an old man working in the UPS/USPS services) so condescending and contemptuous towards customers. He seems to get a kick out of ordering and bossing customers around and have zero respect for student customers. I don’t know why he even works there if he hates helping out the customers. Other than that, the university book store is a great place to shop at.

A good place if you need school supplies quickly, but if you have time I recommend using Amazon or going to Walmart. The prices are marked up quite a bit for the convenience of being on Purdues campus. University Book Store has some nice Purdue attire at competitive prices and is a good place to stop in on a hot day to enjoy the air conditioning! Overall, a good place to get things quickly but prices are considerably higher for that convenience.

This is not just a book store as name suggests. It is more kind of shoppers stop. Herr we extensive range of products emblemed in Purdue. Good products too come at big price bit still discounts are also available. Much books are.not available though.

They rip you off pretty good, but thats the price of convenience. The staff is helpful and respectful. If youre not in to much of a hurry to get something I suggest Amazon Student as a more economical solution.

There is A LOT of stuff here and the location is great, which is good if you’re in a hurry. However, it’s ridiculously expensive. Unless you’re pressed for time, I suggest going somewhere else.

Nice bookstore, pleasant atmosphere, and good selections of books and supplies. Books are well stocked and well organized. Staff are busy but generally helpful.

Worst online experience ever for me. Had an issue on my first order with them years ago. Recently ordered a shirt and promptly received the confirmation email that the order was received and that I would receive more information in a second email once processed. Never got that second email. I emailed twice more over the next 10 days requesting follow up (and reminding them that I had issues on my previous order with them. No response at all. Called for a 3rd follow up (gave up on emails) and got ahold of the same person I was emailing (Tim) immediately. He informed me they didnt have the size (L), that he had taken pictures of other shirts they had and had meant to email me so I could pick a different shirt. Online ordering with these people is a joke.

This is the easiest way to get your textbooks. The people here will help you find the textbooks you need for each class and get them to you. it might not be the cheapest way to get them but theres no hassle and they will let you return the books until the first week of class if you leave the shrink wrap on

EXTREMELY RACIST old male staff at the USPS mailing place. RUDE on language and HORRIBLE attitude.keep on IGNORING me about six or seven times even though i was the first one in line, he have NO SENSE OF SHAME.Other staff apologized to me for that staff member. It is shameful on PURDUE UNIVERSITY to hire such a RUDE person for the students from all over the world.DO NOT GO THERE for shipping!!!! go to the mailing place at the union, they are much nicer and welcome. Other staffs in university book store are fantastic and friendly.

It is a nice store and is sittuated in a good location inside the campus once that is very close to Purdue memorial Union and the small downtown also in the campus. There are a large products variation with Purdue stamps and correlated. Unfortunately I think the price a little expensive compared to anothers products without Purdue logo.

Always a good experience for buying textbooks. The store is well staffed during rush times and are (almost) always friendly. Its always been a quick stop for me, even when they are packed.

Whatever you do avoid the University Bookstore, they dont deserve your money. I was recently in the University Bookstore on August 27th, which was a Monday. I went to go check out and asked if they price match amazon and the cashier said no and just went ahead and scanned my book and did not explain to me that I would no longer be eligible to return the book which was $210. The next morning I went to return the book because I no longer needed it but they said you cant return it. I have not removed the wrap around my book, it hasnt been opened or touched. The last day to return the book was August 24th which is one week into school. People are just getting settled in the first week and not necessarily buying books. I talked to the manager of returns and he blamed me for not looking at the signs posted throughout the store. He also said cashiers are trained on telling people about the return policy but my cashier did not and said it was not the cashiers fault. He didnt accept any of blame and just pushed the blame on me, the customer. Good luck getting business this way. All this place wants to do is take advantage of college kids and rip them off.

This place will receive a lot of hate simply because ALL textbooks are overpriced. Renting prices are still high compared to Amazon rentals though. However, they do carry a lot of office supplies and school clothes, which are well priced and decent quality.

Picking up my cap and gown was quick and easy, nice touch that they congratulate you.

You can almost always find a much better deal than this place. I would recommend for others to search elsewhere. You should buy materials from this place if and only if you absolutely cannot get it anywhere else or if you are made out of money.
