Crowded which is normal for that store because theyre too small. But dont come here if youre trying to sell things. They took old not so nice stuff but wouldnt take brand new never worn items ? Wouldnt take something because they said there was marks and there absolutely was NOT, they offered to check again but honestly I dont want them to profit off of it after that experience so I said no. Id rather the clothes go to someone in need. The stuff I brought to them was nicer than half the stuff they have that looks old and used. There was a few items I had that was understandable but the majority like 97% of it was barely ever worn, washed, smoke free, pet free home and in nice condition. Makes no sense. I think they just make assumptions and judge you when you walk in and then dont even look at anything, my mom brought the stuff in because I needed to stay in the car with my baby and my mom forgot she needed to wear a mask. I think they simply judged that and then didnt even look at half of it. They also mustve dropped some of the items on the floor because some of it when I looked at it at home had dust bunnies on it !!! Was not from me what so ever. I washed everything and made sure it was all nice and in great condition right before bringing it in (except the new with tags items I left the tags on and didnt wash them). It was not a good selling experience. They didnt tell me why they didnt buy anything except the one item that they claimed had marks that did not have marks. I doubled checked when I brought it home and it didnt, so they lied.

First visit this year I got an amazing amount of on sale clothes for just over $45.00.Second visit still great quality, just soent a bit more. Going back today for winter stuff fir my grandkids.🙂

I went for selling used stuff. But It depends on their inventory. Sometimes takes sometimes not even if same condition and similar items. I totally get the reasons. I can tell the staff work so hard for that. I am glad and happy with their service and system.

Most of my purchases were on their online store and done curbside pickup (due to the pandemic). I think it would be a different rating if I went in store. Also, the clothes I have bought were in good condition, but the other products were awful. Thats why this gets a 2-star review instead of a 1-star review.All the baby products (two activity centres, a high chair, etc) I bought online was listed as gently used, and yet upon pickup, they are usually absolutely disgusting with grime, food (yes even on the activity centres), cobwebs from obviously being stored in a garage, and who knows what else. The jumperoo had a toy snapped off, and the picture online was taken from such a convenient angle that it hid this fact. Thats not what I would classify as gently used, and was incredibly disappointing as I had heard such great things from this store.Instead of returning the products, I tried to clean them very well. The high chair and the exersaucer were able to be taken apart and scrubbed with bleach, thankfully. However, the jumperoo wasnt able to be taken apart without breaking, so I ended up spending $60 on something that sucked up a lot of my time and effort and ultimately went into the trash.Overall, all of this wasnt worth the money I saved buying used. I wish I would have just bought new.If I shop here again for anything other than clothes, it would have to be in store so that I can make sure Im not just buying someone elses garbage. On the plus side, apparently if you dont want to take your old broken baby things to the dump you can bring it here and get money for it.

I have shopped there from day one and really appreciated their selections and quality of clothing for my child. Also selling items were easy to do and again good customer service and pricing.

Monday morning and 5 people behind the counter but only one on cash with line going throughout store. Very slow. Selection is okay but messy with stuff everywhere and difficult to navigate.

Best children second hand store in the city, clean environment, nicely arranged shelves, and fairly priced. Only if the store could be bigger that will be wonder.

I brought 4 Rubbermaid bins full of clothing / shoes on a Friday afternoon to sell. I returned later that day to see what they had accepted and was pleasantly surprised. They paid me nearly $200 and took 90 percent of what I had to sell. The process was relatively quick and way more convenient than trying to sell items on a resale site online.I would recommend taking the time to sort your items and lay them flat before bringing them into the store. I believe by making the items more presentable before dropping the clothing off ups the likelihood that more will be accepted.The staff were all pleasant to deal (despite the fact there are people who allow their children to remove every toy from the bins and proceed to leave the toy area with out even attempting to clean up). I will be returning to both buy from and sell to this location.

This location was SO small, messy and disorganized. I couldnt push my stroller through. The toy area was especially bad. I seriously could hardly shop. The clothes were a pretty big mess too. The staff were really nice though and helped with carry my bin back to my car. They took lots of my items to sell and found some good treasures. I would only come to this location again if I didnt have kids or my stroller with me though.

Theres such a great selection of gently-worn baby and toddler clothing. Great prices. 😁 No need to buy new clothes for everyday wear. Theres less of a selection for fancy clothes and shoes of all types.🤔 This is also a great place to buy a basic stroller, baby swing, diaper bag, winter clothes (☃️ toques, mitts, quilted jackets and snow pants), and lots of toys. I havent tried selling selling them anything yet, and will update my review after doing so. ☺️

Will not be going back.They will buy only items that are or look brand new, pay you pennies then turn around and sell at a much bigger profit.They are extremely picky, better off selling you items on Facebook market place or Kijiji.

This place very small and is very crowded as they have a lot of inventory. You won’t be able to push a full sized stroller around, even if a compact stroller I find it difficult.The prices are great and they always have great deals so perfect for cost effective Mamas!My biggest issue is with the staff, often my interaction with them are negative. They are not friendly and I always leave with such a bad impression.

This store buys your gently used kids clothing. You will probably not get as much as you hoped for. Be prepared for that.Its best for clothes for kids under 3, because we all know kids start to wear out their clothes after that!Its reasonable, has a great layout and is well organized.If you have a bunch of clothes to sell, its always best to go first thing in the morning when they open. Because otherwise the wait is quite long.

You can get lots of good deals on promotional days and other days youll have to hunt for it. Its a pretty messy store though with people using it as a play centre and letting their kids run wild through the toy section. I understand that theres lots of clothes to process but when theres 7 people with arms full of clothes and 1 person cashing them through while 6 other workers are sifting through clothes then that doesnt make sense. Then when one person decides to open another til it seems like its such a burden.

My daughter needed black dress shoes. On the last Saturday before Christmas. No way were we going to have any malls. Thank goodness for Once Upon a Child, which not only had the shoes she needed for much less than the mall, but we were in and out in less than 30 min (including browsing & paying). So glad you guys are here for us!

Sold clothes at the McLeod location and they didnt take that much. They took 1 out of 4 diaper boxes of clothes. This location took 2 boxes out of what was left over. Between the two locations I made $100 dollars! They are usually better stocked too at this location. Would have liked to see more collarless t-shirts as my son naps on his tummy.

This is my favourite kids consignment store in Calgary. You do have to be patient when looking through items but I have found some really great pieces here. They also have a great selection of toys.

The clothes, toys, furniture, and books in this location are always clean and in very good condition. Some good brand name stuff, but at excellent prices. The staff, though always busy, are friendly and willing to help. The store is stuffed to the brim so aisles are tight and I wouldnt recommend bringing a stroller.

Great prices, friendly staff and HUGE amount of inventory. Bought items with the original tags still attached. Very impressed with this store. Happy that if the items don’t fit we may return them. Will be back for more clothes for my daughter in the future.

I really love coming here but the few times that I have come to sell Clothes, they have given me pretty much the entire box back because of the condition they say isnt good enough. Ive put clothes in the box that are brand-new and never worn and they sent it back to me which I dont get it. But when Im looking for close to buy everything is in great condition and fairly priced.

Great staff, excellent selection for such a small location!There is a ton of stuff here and it can get crowded, so come with a list and be organized.Ive found some real gems here, just requires semi-frequent visits and patience to look through the stock. I find it way easier to come sans kiddos too. Might miss something good while distracted otherwise.

Great deals to be had as a shopper. Dont bring your kids in a stroller though, its very crowded in there, can be stressful. I started to consign there, but dont know if I will continue, I brought some quality things in that were in excellent condition and they have rejected them, and then when I look on the shelves I see things in much shabbier condition and I wonder how they got in there. I guess its a total luck of the draw who you get examining your box. Went in today, it was a winter wear promo day, and the lineup was out of control, Im talking 40 people long meandered through all of store around multiple aisles. Everyone looked miserable. Huge turn off. If its a day with a big sale or a big event where you have multiple racks outside, it might be better to have more than one till doing sales. Not sure what was happening there, man it was a hot mess.

I have sold twice here and both were great experiences. Super fast processing and fair value. Super busy location which shows success & staff handle customers with care.

Im generally able to find clothing here at a decent price, and theyre generally in good condition. The sales they have are the best, but expect long lines when they do have them. However, they do have the odd article thats overpriced for the condition its in ($5 for holy leggings?). They also dont take back what you buy from them, claiming its not in style (didnt realize newborns had style trends to follow), or theyre very selective on brands, so thats a bummer. Great to buy from though and the ladies are really helpful. If the buy back wasnt so random, they would get 5 stars.

I always find great items for both my kids and I love the sales! The store is cramped very hard to get through with a stroller. I wish other parents would keep better eyes on their children I find my self constantly picking up toys to get by or getting bumped by kids running around. I can see why staff look overwhelmed and stressed.

Their excuse for not purchasing my clothes and baby gear was that it ‘smelled like smoke and nicotine’. We are non-smokers and have always had a non-smoking house. If you don’t want my stuff just say so, don’t make up false excuses and embarrass me in the middle of the store. Will never be coming back here. I wish I could give zero stars.

Never take items to sell or to receive in store credit.A few weeks ago I saw a sign on the store that indicated that they were interested in people bringing in toys to sell for cash or for an in store credit. Sounded like a good idea to me, so I phoned this morning asking about the selling process. I had a few large items such as a Little Tikes Kitchen and a Doctors Trolly. Both of them are in excellent condition, clean and have many accessories. I drove up there, and went into the store and asked if I could bring the items in to have them valuated for an in store credit. The woman I talked to on the phone was there and told me that it was her that I had talked to. I hauled the Little Tikes Kitchen in first, put it down and immediately she told me that she “couldn’t sell it because it has a sticker on it”. I said “ We can easily take the sticker off” which I was about to do as we were standing there. Nope, sorry I can’t take it. Then another staff member chimed in saying “You can donate it……” At this point I picked it up and left the store. What an absolute waste of time…… They didn’t even care to see the other items I had in the car.Overall, I contribute this to staff who are lazy. This “sticker” was literally a 5 second removal job. And once again, the items were in excellent condition. Are they really interested in toys etc…... Update: The following day, I sold the Little Tikes Kitchen for $50 on a local classified app.

THE consignment store in Calgary!They pay upfront for any items purchased from you, as well as offering a discount loyalty scheme. Theyre always fully stocked with the latest clothes for the season and for a fraction of the retail price. Great selection of toys and accessories too.

Great selection, great discounts - it would be five stars but it took me about 15 minutes to pay and there were strollers in the way of the till! I know space is a premium there but there were only two people ahead of me and it took that long. In any case, still worth it for the savings!

It’s extremely over packed and ALOT of the stuff was overpriced for being second hand. New born pants for 8$ an up... you might as well go buy them brand new for that price. Staff were extremely rude and wanted to talk amongst each other while going through bins rather than helping out customers

This is a wonderful store and location, I have nothing to say but good things about the staff and the manner in which they handle the constant stream of goods coming in. It is crowded and you often have to come back to settle up, but these womens are always, pleasant, thoughtful and nonplussed by the demands on them. Love it.

Very disappointed with their rude staff service and unfair trade! I would have given it a higher rate if I didnt experience the cold and rude service today at the Varsity store. My husband and I have shopped there multiple times since our twins were born last summer. Today, we were trying to sell back two swings that we bought from the store a few months ago. One of them has a foot stool missing, which was how it was when the store sold it to us at the time. The staff gave us a 25% off because of the missing stool. However, when we tried to sell it back today, they rejected it for safety reason. Then why would they sell it to us at the beginning? Wouldnt that be unsafe for our kids? I pointed it out that that was how it was sold to us from them, but we received no response. Ironically, the casher who served us today was the same girl who sold the swing to us, but she didnt say anything either. That wasnt the worst. At the time my husband and I were carrying our twins on us and already purchased two small seats and two doorway jumpers before they told us that we couldnt sell one of the swings. We were planning on walking home by carrying the stuff by hands since its only a five minutes walk. So I told the cashier, we cant carry the swing home now, ... Before I even finished my sentence to explain, another staff, seemingly a manager, threw a few words over, saying, they have to take it away. We dont have room here. She didnt even look at us while saying it. My husband and I were standing there with our twins and a pile of stuff that we bought there, didnt know what to do with the big swing for a few seconds. Then the cashier noticed that we couldnt carry everything, and said, You can just move it out and dump it at the garbage area next door. What a suggestion! I was speechless. Eventually, my husband made a second trip back to take the swing home.Raising kids is a hard work, and being a first time mom raising twins on our own is exhausting. I wish our experience at those kids stores could be helpful and pleasant. At least not hurting our feelings like this at Once Upon A Child at Varsity Plaza. I would love to support a baby consignment store like this, but after todays experience, Ill need to look for another store even though it is quite farther from where we live.

Over the past 2 years I have enjoyed purchasing clothes here, knowing I could pick up fun items for my daughter that might be otherwise hard to find. Recently though I tried twice to sell clothes that are too small and this experience was unfortunately, time consuming, unpleasant and discouraging.In order to sell the items you need to first drop of the clothing, then be ready to pick up what they do not accept within the same day. They also dictate when you can come by to review your sale items. This makes sense from the business end but from a parents side it means you have to plan two visits in the same day, first to drop things off then to pick up what they arent taking.This in itself wouldnt be a deterrent if you could be confident theyll take the clothes off your hands. Though the cash rebate is nice, the main goal is to pass forward gently used clothing and reduce the consumer footprint. Both times I dropped off 3 bags of clothing only to have three or four items selected as worthy of resale. I was then told that the others were either marked or in low demand...Having hand washed stains out of everything the first reason was a bit surprising, and having double checked if they needed the items beforehand (called in) the second reason was laughable.The staff were polite enough but curt and impatient. It was honestly disappointing to see such a different side of a business I believe in. It would be great if at least the drop off process could be streamlined. This way, when 90% of your items come back to you at least it wasnt a huge time commitment of your day. I dont know too many parents who feel they have too much time on their hands to show up whenever beckoned.Alternately if they could offer a flat rate per x amount of items you at least know its out of your hands, and they can always donate the excess items to the Goodwill store located three doors down.Long story short, its fine to buy clothes here, but youre better off selling your items through a buy/sell facebook group and saving yourself the redundant hassle.

Place for kids used cloths, starting from new born. If you go frequently you might find lightly used cloths & toys which is in good condition and cheap. They also buy back used cloths but sometimes they are too much naggy just not to buy back items.

Although I have had very good experience purchasing here. My selling experience was less than ideal. I read on the website that no appointment was needed; however, after driving in from Airdrie I was asked to come back the next day due to too many drop offs that day. I guess an appointment was needed.

I have been there a couple of times and i just love it! I am so happy we have the option to look for cheap/gently used clothes for babies since they grow out of them so fast!

This is the only place i buy clothes for my little one anymore. They grow so fast, paying full retail is just silly when you can get such good stuff from Once Upon a Child for such amazing prices (Im looking at you $0.60 clearance fleece jammies!)It can sometimes be a tight squeeze if there is alot of customers but with such great deals, Ill survive.Some people have complained about it being messy, cluttered or disorganized but while i will admit i have seen it in this state, i honestly dont beleive you can blame the store for that. Too many times have i watched people plunk thier kids in toy section and go browse clothes, leaving thier child to just trash things create some serious safetly hazards. At least twice i have been run into by a kid playing on a bike or scooter in the store with parents no where to be seen.The store is amazing, staff have always be super friendly, AMAZING prices and really good selection plus lots of brand new little items like teethers, bath toys and bowties. They will definitely see my again!

I went in here to try to find some gently used baby clothes. I must have gone at the wrong time of day because not only was it insanely packed but it was incredibly disorganized. I’m talking bins and bags of baby stuff piled everywhere. I gave up trying to browse after about 10 minutes.

I love searching for treasures here, but I recently tried selling for the first time and my experience wasn’t great. I just went through my stuff that I dropped off and I was very disappointed to see that when they went through my clothes they split up outfits. I have 5 outfits that they took the top and not the bottom or vice versa. I had folded all of the outfits together so that shouldn’t have been a problem. I also got back an extra onesie that wasn’t mine! The pricing for items was fair and they had no problem giving me back a couple of items that I thought were worth more. I also had to come back the next day to collect my stuff which wasn’t a huge deal, but tough with 3 littles when they say that it’s all done in the same day. All said I will continue to buy here, but think twice before I sell any clothes again.

This is the best store ever. Clean and organized. Fairly tight quarters, but the deals make up for it.

We went today to give out my babys stuff cos we r moving to toronto.. it was a jumper..chair..walkers and lott of other toys...it took one hour to reach there..and they asked us to wait for one hour and after that she told us we are getting $4 for everything.. just cos there were no batteried in toys.. it was a total waste of time and gas..then i took everything back and donated at value village...i dint wanted these people to buy at 4$ and sell 100$ ... dont waste your time going there...

Ive been very impress with the quality of the items and for the most part the prices have been reasonable but few items are a bit pricy when compared to brand new. But their staff are very great in helping.

Staff are quite rude, not very helpful. Its a a small store and difficult to move around. The prices are usually good though, unless you want big brand name stuff (gap kids, Oshkosh, etc is still expensive. )
