This is my first motorcycle, a 1978 Honda CB750K. I have included a before and after photo. Dave and Steve did all the upgrades which include: new exhaust; electronic ignition; new ignition switch; new brake light modulator; LED replacement all around; new stainless steel spokes front and back; new rear drum; new wheel bearings; new tires; new chain and sprockets; complete front brake system including caliper, stainless steel lines, rotor and master brake cylinder and black clutch and brake levers; new front fork seals, oil and springs; new silver-gray power coating on the lower fork tubes; cleaned and treated inside of the tank to seal any cracks and protect from rust....and they do the oil changes. I am not a mechanic. I am a new rider who has found a love for riding this classic motorcycle. Without Dave and Steve, I would not have purchased this bike. Who would I trust to do what needs to be done -- and no more -- and to be done right the first time? I have put other upgrades on the list, and they told me they were unnecessary. We dont want to take your money for services and upgrades that are not needed, they said. What mechanics say that? Their work is precise and reasonably priced, and they deliver it when they say. It is hard to find impeccable service in any industry. If you want it for your vintage motorcycle, go see Dave and Steve, or Steve and Dave since they really are two of the same person.

I drive a 2009 Vespa GTV 250ie and I live in Midcoast Maine. Due to the distance between me and the nearest experienced scooter mechanic - and the pandemic - my bike hadn’t had regular service since 2018. This summer (June, 2021) I drove it to the Phoenix Cycle Shop in Westbrook and asked Steve Ward to perform every one of the manufacturer’s recommended service procedures for the lifetime of the scooter, including foot notes. He did an amazing, thorough, professional job at fair and reasonable cost ~ my Vespa now performs and handles better than ever in the 10,000 miles I’ve been riding it. Acceleration is strong and gas mileage is a satisfying 75 MPG. The brakes bite like they should without squeaking and the seat latch closes properly for the first time.I highly recommend the Phoenix Cycle Shop for all things scooter. I hope Steve and Dave stay in business and thrive here in Maine for many years to come!

I find these guys to be the experts on vintage Honda bikes in Maine. They are patient and professional. My bike is a small engine bike and they understand my love for it and dont disparage any vintage rider. I drive an hour to get there and its always been worth it.

Phoenix cycle shop is an awesome local business. I was told about the place last year by a Co worker and I have been by there several times now for advice and repairs. These guys are a wealth of knowledge and are willing to share it, I first went by there full of questions about my 40 year old motorcycle and they had all the answers, from what was and wasnt original to my bike, to where I could order new replacement parts online. Now I have finally had them work on my 80s Honda this year after all of my questions and picking their brains, and I was not disappointed. I asked them when I could bring my bike by and I was lucky that the spring rush hadnt happened yet so they said anytime. I rode the bike there dropped it off and it was only several days later and I had my bike back all done up and ready to ride.I had them do my chain and sprockets, they noticed my kickstand wasnt correct and the bike leaned too far over, so they sourced a correct one and replaced it, new tires, oil change, and had them diagnose a problem with the bike hesitating while riding, I had noticed the front brakes were making noise on the way there so I asked them to look at that as well.Turned out the hesitation was due to one of the front brake calipers pistons sticking due to being rusty, so they rebuilt the caliper with new bits and its working fantastic now. For all the work they put in to my machine their prices are very reasonable and the invoice listed out everything they did and I am very pleased. These guys at Phoenix cycle genuinely seem to enjoy what they do and are absolutely willing to share information, give advice and do awesome work every day. I hadnt even spent any money there and they answered my questions and gave me excellent advice about my new to me antique motorcycle and thats worth more than gold in my opinion. If youre looking for an excellent local motorcycle shop these guys are a phenomenal choice.I recommend giving them a call if you need anything done and seeing when they can squeeze you in, they get busy when the weather gets warm but in the winter months they have more openings.

Absolutely terrible. Had a water pump leak, was told it was the seal and they would replace it. Was then told after the $400 in work was done that it cant be fixed and the pump cant be replaced so its still gonna leak coolant and overheat. Really just have no clue what they spent all the time taking the bike apart for when the problem is still just as bad and they obviously did nothing to make it any better. Should have at minimum called me back and told me what the situation was before doing the work.

I had purchased a custom made fender from a third party vendor, hoping to have it mounted on my bike. Steve and Dave from Phoenix Cycles took great care of me and handled the mounting superbly. They also had the fender painted to match the OEM colors already on the bike, and the result was nothing less than that I had envisioned in my mind. The service was great, their cost estimates fair, and the work was quality - hard to find all three of these favorable characteristics in a shop these days. Ill be bringing my bike here for all of my future work.

Great guys, very knowledgeable. I own a few 80s smaller production Hondas and they knew any question I threw at them, which is much better than any other place Ive been to in Maine. They genuinely love bikes and seeing people ride them, and will go above and beyond what they need to to make sure you are safe and good to go.

Not impressed at all.Took my rear wheel in to have a new tire put on (mine) and balanced. Arrived to pick it up, tire was backwards on the wheel. Initially was told it was installed in the direction the old one was.I stated the tire was factory installed, I didnt think the factory would have installed it backwards. He promptly swapped it around. He also stated it wasnt necessary to re-balance because it was right back on the wheel as when previously balanced.S0 I get it home. Recently buying a bike wheel balancer, I couldnt helpchecking this out. Needless to say, NOT balanced.Recommend to a friend? Probably NOT!!!

I checked with a few shops around Portland to make an appointment to replace my rear tire with one that I purchased online; to my surprise, I was told by some other shops that, for insurance purposes, they couldnt replace my tire without documentation for the tire that was already on the bike... I thought this was a little strange. Everything worked out just fine, since I was planning on going to Phoenix anyways, because I purchased my TU250 from one of the shop owners, Steve.I was a little late for my appointment, but they werent phased by that, and they welcomed me into the shop. The waiting area is bare-bones-- as one might expect from any maintenance shop-- but the couch is comfortable. I read a book while I listened to the guys do their work on the other side of the space. About 40 minutes later, Im paying less that I would have expected.Since its getting to be late in the season, Steve told me about their winter storage package (i.e. flexible dates, drain, proper battery care all winter, and an oil change in the spring when I want to start riding again), which ll probably be taking them up on.Given that the first review of this shop is 1 star and has no text to accompany it, Im curious what their experience was. I could not have asked for more.
