Agree that some of the staff tends towards being judgmental, but that being said--we are in Westport. I grew up here and have never been inside a store where I did not feel judged. The yarn selection is great. I come here a few times a month to pick up yarn for sweaters, socks, hats, etc. Love the variety--all reasonably priced.
Beautiful yarn, cute store, but did not know people that sell yarn can be so pretentious?
Westport yarns has the friendliest, most helpful staff in a wonderfully designed store. The employees are all talented knitters and designers, they are all extremely helpful and patient. The environment is welcoming whether you sit up front at the table or in back on the couch. The classes are diverse and superb ranging from easy to challenging. The selection of yarn and accessories is broad and there is always something new. There are trunk shows highlighting special yarns and designers. It is open 7 days so you can always get there. Lately they have added weaving in addition to knitting and crochet. This is a must visit any time you can get there!!
I L-O-V-E this store! (And yes - that was a cheerleader yell) The owners are wonderful, the people who work there are really great. Their classes have taken me out of my scarf and hat comfort zone and their yarn selection is great. GO VISIT THE STORE! You will be very happy.
Beautiful variety and quality yarn. And so helpful!!!
I have been in many knotting stores mostly in nyc but the helpful staff and the lovely yarns in this store are the best.
GREAT selection. Ive been shopping here on and off when Im in the area but I have to brace myself for some of the most obnoxious behavior Ive ever encountered by shop workers / owners. I cant tell if its social profiling - do I need to upgrade my wardrobe? Wear cosmetics on a Saturday? Hard to say, but its been this way for years. I chalk it up to a black mark on the area in general. Ive lived in here for 30 years, this is partially my fault :-) Go on in anyway, when theyre rude (and they arent always), just stare them down and insist that you get what you need. Just dont ask for help...
This shop is a nightmare. In theory, a great place, in practice a nightmare. I spent over $200 today on yarn and pins for a sweater and when I called to query the sizing on the pattern which accompanied the yarn, I alsowas treated to disdainful and patronizing comments. (And not the first time either - much to my poorer judgement, I had decided to give the shop a second chance since unfortunately, it is the closest yarn store to my home currently)I will not be back
