Tasty comfort food, nothing fancy here. Server was very kind, service was quick. I got a seafood stuffed baked potato with a side of green beans. I thought the potato would be like a side dish kind of thing but it was definitely a meal in itself. I will say that the au gratin sauce could be a bit much, but I liked it. Husband got shrimp and grits - the grits were pretty rich but we liked them - the whole dish was delicious. We also got a small shrimp po boy to share which was pretty good. Needless to say we ordered way too much food but it was all great!
Ive always loved this place. Ive visited it everytime I find myself out in the area. The cooking is something my grandparents showed me when I was young, the pancakes and waffles have a distinct fluffyness and the diner coffee is some of the best Ive tasted. Stop by if you have a chance and are willing, itll be worth it.
Server did not want us there, she was put out from the moment we walked in. We sat for 10 minutes trying to keep 3 little children entertained before we even got menus. The food was done fairly quickly but the kids meal didnt come out for a few minutes after. The chicken quesadilla was good and filling for the kids, The salad with Shrimp was large and pretty good, the gumbo was okay but not great. I ordered the Jambalaya with fried shrimp. It was horrible. I covered it in hot sauce just to make it edible. Not at all what I expected. I would be a happy camper if all the restaurants would finish the shrimp by removing the inedible tails. I dont like to stick my fingers in my food to eat. The waitress never came back to see how we were doing. It would be one thing if they were busy, but they were not. I just stopped in for 3 days to visit and had a craving for good jambalaya, such a sad experience.I normally tip 20% but was an exception. Our kids were extremely well behaved and we tried to be friendly and courteous.
Great food great waitresses cant ask for much more than that
I went here with my friends family, after a funeral. There was probably at least 50 of us in the party room. The waitresses were all very nice & they kept up with everything very well in my opinion. I had a baked potato and it was good. Everyone was happy with the service we received. I would recommend.
Good food portions. Great service. Delicious food. Reasonable prices.
There was a Roach that got fried with my daughters Chicken Tenders ........That just topped off the horrible experience. They brought us a pitcher of Coke that was so watered down we could t drink it. The Chicken Fried Steak was drowned in so much gravy you couldnt even see it. Maybe the staff should spend a lil less time out back smoking and playing around and focus on their work. We live right down the street and have tried here several times, it used to be better, whatever has changed it is NOT for the better. We wont return.
We ate dinner here tonight 8/3/2021. Service was VERY slow but we waited considering all business are short on staff. Took 30 minutes to get just drinks then another 10 minutes to take the food order. AGAIN, we were patiently waiting due to the circumstances. We ordered the 1/2 and 1/2 platter shrimp and fish & shrimp and soft shell crab. The food came out over 40 minutes later ice cold. The only thing that was a little warm was the onion rings. The seafood is definitely imported. That was very disappointing especially since the business is located near a fresh seafood lot and westwego is a fishing village. After a $45 bill we are left with food we barely ate and our stomachs in knots. This was our 1st and last time here.
Meh...I tried it a few times. Twice for breakfast and once for dinner. Dinner was a crabcake pasta. Just way too much greasy sauce. The crab cake was ok. The breakfast was not horrible but just sub par. The place is run down looking and looks like it needs a good cleaning. If the owners gave the place a face lift and revamped the menu the place would certainly benefit. The staff was very friendly
Basic neighborhood food. Its decent. The place is decent.
Great little old fashioned restaurant. Good food and good coffee. Nice and comfy.
The food is good, but service needs work. Tried calling in an order one day for lunch and I was put on hold. After 40 minutes of leaving my cell on speakerphone waiting for the worker to come back to the phone I just hung up and skipped lunch.
Good food, comfy atmosphere...the staff is super friendly. Highly suggest the Cajun potatoes and shrimp appetizer. The western bbq bacon burger on french is to die for. Breakfast ALL DAY!!! Highly recommend this little spot
I gave the Cafe a 5 because 4.5 dont exist. Im a regular there. Its a local business, with good food at decent price. Friendly waitress. A Westwego tradition.I gave a 4.5 because lm a regular and didnt want you to think Im playing favorites.
Great food really great service and Def awesome manager she is awesome awsome onion rings really
The staff are great. The food is delicious
Fantastic Louisiana cuisine and hospitality. I had a PoBoy and the guy I was with had Cajun Potatoes I think it was called. Its potatoes and shrimp with au gratin sauce. I was jealous of his order and mine was great. The food is enough to go for, but the ladies working the lunch shift were exactly the people I talk about when I talk about visiting south Louisiana. The nicest people you can imagine, and immediately made us feel like we were regulars despite being our first visit.
First time eating here. I had breakfast & everything on my plate was perfect. Eggs were perfectly cooked. People are friendly. We will be back! Ty WeGeaux Cafe.
Nice nostalgic cafe. Good food, great atmosphere and very friendly wait staff. When in town, I visit several times a week. Highly recommend for good family run diner.
I ordered a steak which was, well done went it should have been med rare also, potato, was cold waitress was not wearing her mask correctly also other workers were not wearing mask correctly, eitherWILL NOT BE BACK
Best home cooked food around...
Ordered the half fried chicken mixed and it had NO seasoning on it. I actually had to put toneys on it to make it have SOME sort of flavor. Just got done working 16hrs and I wasn’t about to call to get something new. Husband had the hamburger steak with potato salad and same thing. Food is suitable for people on super restrictive diets.
Great food, great service, terrific Mom & Pop place!
Food is always on point. Servers are always very friendly & prompt. Would recommend to every one.
The food there is so good and the service is fantastic I recommend this place for some good home down cooking
Gumbo and shrimp jambalaya were both good and limited heat so my kids could eat it. The bowls are a good portion too. Cheap domestic beer too.
Small local business but great food and good service!
Food was not that great.Only get one coffee refill (WITH a meal order). Otherwise, a charge per cup! And a small size cup at that
A very great place to eat, and wonderful atmosphere...🙂
Good food and good service. We eat or order there several times a week.
Best breakfast, I always get french toast with one egg(over/medium) on top my french toast.Best breakfastAffordable $Nice staffD.K.😉
We are from out of town staying just a little ways from here. Looked it up and decided to try it. Ten minutes later and a waitress making four trips in there and never acknowledging us we left. If I could give 0 or a 1/2 star I would.
Always great service and great food. Never disappointed with with either.
Food was plentiful, prices were surprisingly inexpensive, beer was very cold, and the servers were very friendly and efficient. My only complaints were that the raisin bread must have been stale before it was toasted (too hard to chew), and the hash browns, while plentiful, were undercooked and mushy. That being said, I plan to go back again and maybe try lunch next time.
Great customer service and even greater food....
I ordered two gumbos from here yesterday via Postmates. I called first to ask what was in each gumbo. Once i got that information I ordered one seafood gumbo and one chicken and sausage gumbo. The seafood gumbo had about 3 tiny shrimp in it, and was in the nastiest, thinnest unflavored broth ever. The chicken and sausage was meatier but still in a nasty thin under seasoned undercooked broth. Very disappointed and will not be returning as no one has done anything about it!
Got a Togo order. Took forever. Then the lady, idk if it’s the owner or what, told me to stop “wasting the ketchup” rude.
Food great slow getting too table
Favorite place to be a regular! 💗
Food is great. Service is excellent.
Food was good portions were what one expects in the area and reasonable price. The one waitress they had working the floor was overwhelmed so service was a bit slow but that is not necessarily the fault of the waitress highly recommended will go back again.
Every time i go to WeGeaux Cafe. The food is excellent. I had a bad experience with one waitress, but that has been taken care of. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Thumbs up for Ms. Bonnie.I drive from estell to eat there.
Great breakfast and real nice service
Great food great experience.loved the seafood gumbo.
The Mushroom & Swiss Hamburg is very delicious and the service was amazing
Food is good and so is the service.Nice family restaurant. Pleasant atmosphere!
Burgers and onion rings had no flavor! Not impressed!
Honestly my favorite place to eat breakfast on the westbank. It has that good old fashioned feel. Theres always real cool old people that just talk way too loud to each other but about really interesting stuff from their times. Bunch of characters. They really make the place come to life. The food is so good. The eggs are always cooked to perfection. The coffee taste like you made it at home which is great. The prices are so cheap. Love this place. Youll be entertained and leave full and satisfied.
First time, loved the place. Will definitely recommend eating there.
I ordered a salad with grilled chicken and it was fresh and really good. It was a large portion. Enough for another salad for lunch tomorrow.
Went there with my friend loved it the food was delicious the waitress was great we really enjoyed ourselves
Homemade food. Very delicious
The food was good, prices are very reasonable and the service is always awesome.
Friendly service, food served quickly, hot, and reasonable prices.
We are in here multiple times a week. Small town restaurant good food.
Great place.
Good food, good service
Love the food, always a familiar face to see.
Stopped in for a quick bite never being in the area before and had a very pleasant experience here! Our waitress was great and the customers were very friendly and welcoming. Had my first crawfish experience here on a whim and 10/10 would recommend!
Food is delicious here! Everythingtastes amazing and is affordable. Love, love, love wegeaux cafe!!
The food was very delicious and well prepared! We came during lunch rush hour so the service wasnt too good. I dont blame the servers too much for that mishap. When youre busy that means it must be good, right? Family friendly atmosphere, home cooking styled, and good portions. Ordered the hamburger steak w/onions, rice and gravy, and a salad. Yummy!
I eat here two to three times a week every week some of the best food on the westbank
Friendly & great customer service.food is good also.
Great food homestyle (with great service) at very affordable prices. Breakfast prepared anytime. A hometown cultural experience every time.
Was really good....just a little under seasoned coming from a place in Cajun Ville lol
White gravy with biscuits were good. Hashbrowns were not cooked well enough for my taste. Quick friendly service. Will go again
Great tasting coffee and the grilled biscuits were terrific. Waitress really nice too. Got 2 eggs, scrambled with bacon, the biscuit and coffee for less than $6.00.
The best place to eat! The staff is friendly and courteous. Keeps us going back.
This place is an amazing hole in the wall establishment. The outside gives off an unprofessional vibe, but once you get inside it changes entirely. As soon as you walk in it feels very comfortable. Its very welcoming. The staff is extremely friendly and treat you like theyve known you for 20 years. Their service is just as great as their hospitality. The food was brought out as soon as it was ready and our glasses were never empty. They even went above and beyond by making us fresh grits in the evening hours. Speaking of grits, their shrimp and grits dish is incredible. Its feels like someones mom made it for you right in the kitchen. It had a very authentic, homemade Creole vibe. Overall the restaurant is very laid back, fun, and delicious.
I love the gumbo and potatoes salad. The red beans and rice and sausage with a nice salad they have there. I always bring family and friends when we go food is great we always try new things too. My brother and sisters and mother and aunt all love the place atmosphere is great real home like clean and pleasant. Service was great we enjoy going there.
I had the shrimp and grits. Very tasty. Only negative is not enough shrimp as I am a lover of shrimp. I would highly recommend.
Great first experience at trying Creole style cooking. Chilli was tasty, and all food reasonably priced. Lovely staff and they were cranking out takeaways the whole time we are there so they must be popular.
The service was great the server was super sweet and the food was freshly made and absolutely delicious we a cheeseburger with chili cheese fries beignets chicken parmasean and potato salad we got a ton of food for a good price we will definitely be going back we went there bc we were starving after a swamp tour and it was definitely worth it
Very good food at reasonable prices
Best fried chicken on the west bank
Always great food
Food was good & inexpensive. Nothing stood out as great except for thegrits and the coffee, they were excellent! $0.85 for coffee! Waitresses were friendly & shorthanded.
Good food at a reasonable price. Service isas fast as I would like. not
The waitress took our order, We got our drinks. She came back with all the extras that we asked for. The onion rings were delicious. The stuffed shrimp were kiss your momma delicious. My nephew had a bacon hamburger He and his dad said it was very good. They both eat a lot of burgers... We will be back. PS the service easy great .
We stumbled upon this place while visiting New Orleans with my Boy Scout Troop. We ended up eating here every night of the trip. The food was great and reasonably priced. The service was excellent. The first night, I wanted the shrimp and grits, but didnt get it because I was hungry and thought there was no way that a $6 bowl would fill me up. Another in our party got it, though, and holy cow, that was a lot of shrimp and grits (I got that the next night). Instead, I got the Muffaletta Burger. That was a MASSIVE hamburger. It was delicious, too. I burped all night long from the indigestion, but every burp was a sweet and welcome reminder of the amazing hamburger Id eaten. Seriously, stop and eat at this place.
Great food waitresses are awesome prices or such a deal. Dixie has to be the sweetest little down the bayou kinda gal she makes you feel right at home.
Nice local/neighborhood restaurant and good food. I recommend. Staff is awesome and very welcoming (charming).
I really like the eggs and grits here. Its a hole in the wall but frequented by locals. Definitely worth trying at least once.
Great place. Cheese burger and onion rings.
The service was excellent. I ordered the seafood platter for two to share with my mom and still took food home. Definitely going back there. Food was delicious!
Great food and great service! Prices are well worth it with the portions you get. You’ll never leave hungry.
Fantastic food, amazing quantity of food, prices unbelievable, and service was over the top fabulous. Definitely a most stop!
I recently moved to Westwego. I stumbled across WeGeaux just looking for a nearby place to eat. Well, I loved it. Great homemade food... friendly staff... generous portions. And its obvious that WeGeaux is popular with the locals. Several of my friends regularly helped me with the move... and I thanked them with trips to WeGeaux. Now I know several of the staff by name. [ In case it isnt clear yet...... I LOVE THIS PLACE! ] :-)
Good food, Good people and a Comfortable Atmosphere.
Excellent local fare in an unpretentious neighborhood setting. Friendly staff.
If you come here order only ONE thing, the Shrimp and Grits. Your life will thank you for letting it have this one amazing dish before its end. We had a shockingly long wait time and our other shrimp dishes were overcooked, but I would come back here just for that Shrimp and Grits dish. I will never forget it. We had 7 in our group, that may have accounted for the long wait to cook all of the meals? It was a small cafe. Very kind staff.
First time here. Pancakes were rubbery. Hash browns were bland. Yummy grilled biscuit and pork chop.
Worst service I have ever had. Our waitress was not attentive at all. Couldnt even get a drink refill. Had to wait over 10 minutes for her to clear the table for us to sit, and that only happened because my daughter asked if someone would come clean the table. It took her 10 minutes to come back and see what we wanted to drink, and yes we waited again. Our salads were brought to us before the appetizers. It took awhile to get our food, my son got his food before we did. He was finished eating by the time our food came. Then we waited another 20 minutes for to go drinks, boxes, and the check. Our bill was $105.00, didnt leave a tip. Talked to the owner not even a complimentary dessert was offered. Will not go back here again
