Third time in. Gave it 3 times only because it’s a small neighborhood store and wanted to shop local. Each time a bad experience which takes away the convenience factor of it being close by. Workers stand behind the desk and chat instead of helping anyone. If you do get help the guy moves on to another customer and forgets your question. Rather wait in a longer line and get what I need. Will not return. Ever.

Several weeks ago I bought a power strip. While I was paying, I decided to get a key made. Both transactions simple and easy. Went back again to get more keys made. Quick and easy. I recommend this local hardware store.

They had the shelf hardware I needed. Staff is friendly and helpful.

I was there around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. They were not busy. I was able to find what I was looking for with the help from a staff member.

Friendliest hardware store around, and prices are competitive. You really dont spend much more shopping here vs the big box stores. Definitely giving this small business as much patronage as I can as the service and convenience of getting in and out quickly are great

Trying to find a appliance light bulb, while walking with a cain, I asked the woman for help, she was not busy but just stood there, not offering any assistance.

Owner doesn’t really wear a mask; it’s on his chin; it’s under his jaw; or it is off altogether. Owner is a very nice guy; helpful and knowledgeable —and I prefer shopping at my local small businesses. I have shopped here many times prepandemic—but never again—whatever his reason for not wearing a mask —or not wearing it properly —tells me he doesnt adequately respect his customers or the disease— or feels maybe politics are more important.Put a sign on the door and warn us. Counting days and hope I don’t get sick.

Kind of expensive compared to HD or Lowes, but the location saves time, gas, and effort. Staff is friendly, helpful, and the store usually has what I am looking for. Small and congested, with a stairway to a lower level, wheelchair bound patrons should probably just ask staff for help rather than trying to navigate the store themselves.

The most impressive small hardware stores I think I have had the pleasure of entering, they have inventory that others have difficulty maintaining. The staff there is very helpful and friendly. Look forward to shopping there in the future.

Normally my experience with true value is pleasant. Today on June the 12th 2018 it wasnt pleasant at all. I ask a front end clerk (who I think is the manager) where a specific item was and he points me toward the item which was downstairs.. I then bring the item back upstairs and I notice that the item rings up for a dollar more than it actually was. I let the guy know that the price was a dollar more than what was on the tag downstairs. He says, it had have been in the wrong place. I then told him that Im pretty sure that the tag was in front of the rights item and lets go downstairs and check. We went downstairs to the basement where the item was and sure enough the item was behind the correct tag which rung up a dollar more. Along with being rude,the guy then rips the tag off of the shelf and says this item is 4.99 not 3.99.If this place had good customer service they would have allowed me to get the item for what the tag had on it.I will not recommend this place to anyone!

A giant hardware store with only four parking spots and one is a handicapped spot. Are you kidding me?! Unbelievable.

Went into have a piece of glass put in the door the gentleman came out said nope can’t help you he said he walked away no explanation no no why, customer service was short at best I’ll never go back . This is why the big box stores are winning . Small shops like this win on customer service and when customer service isn’t there they’re not long for this world .

Rude, unfriendly associates. Went in looking for nails to hang something in my classroom and they acted like I had two heads. I bet if I was a man they wouldn’t have treated me that way! Not patient with my kids at all, either. Same for both visits I made in the past. I will never go back!

Horrible attitude on the part of the owner. Insulting, demeaning, arrogant. I havent seen customer service this bad in years. With his attitude, this business has little chance of lasting much longer. The old True Value was the exact opposite of this.

I have now been shopping here for a few years and have always been very satisfied with both product selections and service. If you need anything from a garden hose nuzzle to a small power tool you will find it here. Some prices may be slightly more than the Big Box stores but prices are still relatively competitive with most stores. My last trip brought me here to pick up a window squeegee (for me) and a new flashlight for my mother. I was very pleased with the fact that I had a few choices when selecting both items. THey carry all of the usual hardware items such as paint, hand tools, fasteners, cleaning products, etc. I have always found the service to be both friendly and courteous. Store is spread out on two floors and is well organized. If you cant what you are looking for - just ask. These smaller hardware stores are slowly fading away. I have now seen three separate smaller hardware stores leave Wethersfield & Hartfords Southend in the last decade - truly a shame. Again, It is a great to support a local business which has good products and services. Thanks!!!

During a visit to this store this morning, a friend of mine was shunned and unprofessionally handled when inquiring about a part for an electrical cord, in addition to, where the part could be found. The owner of the store, Joe, feigned ignorance as to what/where the part could be found in his own establishment! This behavior was presented to my friend moments after Joe had obligingly assisted a non-minority customer. After dismissing my friend, he then proceeded out to his car and began wiping it down as if there were no customers to assist. It is disturbing when you see racism exhibited first hand in any manner especially in the year of 2017! The whole situation was very appalling!!! Because of this unprofessional, unfriendly and unfair display, Shop-Rite Hardware & Paint Supply deserves absolutely NO STARS!!!

Hey folks, its hardware store. If you want to shop, head over to Bed/Bath...Most folks know what they need when they go here, or can adequately fumble a description, in order to receive help. Im in and Im out, and on the Silas Deane. This place will most certainly do.

If you need a strange, uncommon part or tool, this store most likely has it.What would it take to get 5 stars? Put all the old, outdated stuff on clearance. Seriously, the problem with having too much stuff is having the old stuff from 15 years ago on the shelf covered in dust. For example, the phone aisle primarily contains wide variety of corded phone accessories. Want the coiled cords from the 80s in brown, yellow, and eggshell colors? This store has em and they arent cheap. These are dollar store bin items taking up shelf space that could be utilized to sell product that people will actually buy. I also saw some old computer accessories in the same aisle that were covered in dust. One of which was a wired optical mouse from GE for $10. Best Buy has modern wireless models for the same price. Just checked. Throwing this old stuff in a clearance bin and advertising a huge sale would not only clear out the old outdated product, but would also get people into the store and who knows... they may just buy other things that are not on clearance! As previously mentioned, it also makes way for product that people would want to buy.This review may sound scathing, but I really want to see this store succeed. I think the staff is incredible, no joke. Its impressive with how much they know and how helpful they can be. With ACE just a few doors down going out of business, I do not want this store to fall into the same trap that ACE did. ACE rarely had sales, had lots of overpriced and outdated product, and the staff was hit or miss. True Value has the staff on point, just needs a bit of spring cleaning to give me more of a reason to go there.
