Recently moved to White Plains and I am so happy I found American Terrain. The store is gorgeous, inventory is fantastic and the owners, Manny and Rosanna are lovely, helpful and knowledgeable about outdoor clothing and shoes. They now have an entire part of the store dedicated to the ExOfficio line.

This store has an outstanding selection of outdoor clothing and shoes as well as a cool selection of backpacks and sunglasses. I love that they sell ExOfficio now along with other popular brands like Patagonia and Mammoth. Great to have a local store to shop at instead of having to go to the big box stores.

American Terrain is honestly at the pinnacle of being a combination of great, friendly service, knowledgeable assistance, a wide selection, and great prices! The owners, Manny and Rosanna have continually gone far above and beyond just plain good, typical customer service to get me the right equipment, clothing, or footwear I need, and they always stand behind everything that they sell in an ironclad way. They have been doing this (selling outdoor gear and also using it all themselves, as hardcore outdoors aficionados) for so many years that there is literally nothing that they havent come across in properly matching the right tool to the task, which in this case is specifically matching the right gear to the activity and the person. They are always willing to share their wealth of experience and knowledge for a seemingly endless array of activities. Buying online doesnt get you one iota of this level of guidance, and for example, when you need an exact shoe fit or proper insulation weight and set of features for a jacket, their advice is always spot on, and ONLY able to be given by such highly experienced and generous professionals who make up the American terrain staff. They are what all exemplary customer service should be, and additionally, Manny and Rosanna are 2 of the nicest people that you will ever meet to boot! (hiking pun intended)

I needed some waterproof hiking boots that would work with my orthotics. Finding shoes with these orthotics has always been something of a challenge. The staff was very helpful and was able to guide me through the maze of brands to a style that was not too expensive, yet had the flexibility that I needed. They definitely didnt steer me to anything particularly expensive. We started at the lower end to determine what features I needed without paying a premium for things I didnt need. They staff was patient and had sound advice.

Ever since my daughter came of an age to need Uggs, we have purchased ever pair at American Terrain. Boots tall and short, mocs, clogs....The staff is helpful and pleasant. And we always find other terrific outwear items in the store.I take great pride in never having purchased one item from the big internet vendors. I love shopping locally and keeping a place like American Terrain around.

Manny and Rosanna are the nicest people youll ever walk into a store and do business with. Not only do they know their products like the back of their hand, their knowledge of the local hiking and kayaking is phenomenal. They sell a huge array of outdoor products including Ex Officio, The North Face, Patagonia, Prana, Mountain Hardwear, Ibex and Smartwool. If youre going on any vacation or traveling holiday, camping locally or outfitting your boy scout then Id highly recommend American Terrain as your one and only shop.
