My daughter suggested this place for breakfast and I was glad to oblige. They had open sitting in the parking lot and thats where we were seated. So I cannot comment on the inside. Our server was very helpful, unfortunately I forgot her name. The food was fine. Their 49er Flap Jacks is one of a kind. It was chewy and tasted really good. Price is on the high side though! π
It was big portions for a great price. Yolanda our server was delightful as was Kevin when she went on break.I had Eggs, Hashbrowns, and the pumpkin pancakes. My friend had the Bacon Omelette (which he said was really good) and sourdough pancakes (which were a bit interesting of a taste).Coffee is good but wish it was stronger (its very light)
Pancakes were good and they taste good, I really enjoyed them. I will be coming back to try more plates. On weekends it does take very long to get a table and also service as well, thatβs the reason for the four stars, plus I didnβt get napkins. Every detail matters from the smallest to the quality of the overall experience, but I do recommend this establishment!
The food was good great flavor only reason they did not get a 5 star its because my eggs were a little overcooked and my Is pancakes a little undercooked. The hash browns and Orange juice were awesome I love some good Orange juice with my breakfast. The wait time when we arrived was about an hour we got in a little bit sooner, it was worth the wait .
Always a great place to eat. Weve been here plenty of times because the food and service is always on point. Our waitress Sandra is the best she had everything on our table before we even needed it. We always get our meals within 10 minutes of ordering it. Well give them 10 stars for using quality food.
I had heard that The Original Pancake House was pricey, but decided to give it a try based on positive word of mouth. Got seated outside about 15 minutes after arrival and got a real menu. Their breakfast choices are pricey compared to other places. My wife was hoping for lunch, but breakfast was the only offering. We made our choices, when our food arrived, my wifes plate was not even close to what she had expected and the menu price was way more than what we felt was reasonable for that item as it was served. The waitress was accommodating and removed the item from the bill, but there was no discussion of what the issue was, nor any offer to choose something else from the menu and no manager ever talked with us either. My option was to get up and leave or eat my meal alone. My wife was okay with me eating while she sat there with nothing, but that took all the fun out of going to breakfast. The waitress did not offer a refill of my coffee nor my water. Pretty sure that will be our last visit to the OPH. Disappointed.
Coffee and breakfast were fresh and tasty. This was my first time eating there I was impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant. The staff was attentive and polite.
Okay, so maybe our expectations were way too high. This review and star downgrade is all about the blueberry pancakes. Described as having blueberries in the pancakes topped with blueberry compote. The biggest disappointment was the blueberry compote. More like blueberries with juice. A compote should be thickened, more akin to pie filling which can be smeared around. What was received were blueberries which hubby ended up fishing out of the juice in the little cup. The juice, when hed started pouring over his pancakes, immediately soaked in. The pancakes themselves did have a blue-ish tint to them, but the blueberry flavor was only there when one was in the bite taken. Couple that with the compote that wasnt, and this was our first and last time at the Original Pancake House.
Food is amazing! Staff is amazing. Highly recommend country fried steak, hash browns, both strawberry and cherry crepes. The thick cut bacon is also very delicious!
I would give them 5 stars but I was seated in an area where my companion was bumped every time waitress or others walked by. That corner table is not a good area. Food was delicious. Ill stay away from that table next time tho
Had the corn beef hash with eggs comes with 3 pancakes. Ordered an extra side of eggs and gravy. Split meal with wife, was awesome. Corn beef crispy cruncy crust. Coffee was good.
I really enjoyed breakfast and Julia our waitress was an excellent server, which is why she gotten a huge tip from me! $32 tip!! Hope to go there and Julia is the server again.
Great food and service! Was staying in the LA area and needed a quick weekday breakfast. Not only was everything cooked to perfection, the hash browns were some of the best Iβve ever had. Best breakfast Iβve had in quite some time!
Food was so good, hit the spot after driving all day. Waitress was fun and helpful.Recommend
So the food was great BUT it took forever to get all of our food. Ok Im know it was busy but it was kind of ridiculous and my sons plate was delivered when the rest of us almost finished. They just need to work on that but I do recommend, the food is that good!
I had the German PANCAKE and it was delicious. Their hashbrown, links, and bacon were very well done. I do want to mention that their regular pancakes seen dry and in need of a better flavor.
Always worth the wait. The pancakes are great, the eggs and ham are really good too. However, if you come here for the first time you have to try one of the specialty pancakes. All listed on the first page of the menu and definitely worth the unique experience. The corned beef hash is made fresh and from scratch. The only thing that I would suggest, but this is personal preference, is the bacon. I noticed that almost every local breakfast bar serves bacon crispy almost well done. I love mine medium, just slight crisp, chewy in the middle. So if youre like me avoid the bacon and theres plenty of really good options. Omelettes, crepes, eggs, ham, plus exotic pancakes, even potato pancakes. The wait for a party greater than 4 is going to be close to an hour during most of the morning hours. But again they employ real cooks and chefs. We are not talking a canned selection heated up by the kitchen... or the same foods local restaurants all pick up at Costco business center or restaurant depot. They use fresh ingredients and as far as I can tell everything is from scratch.
Great place for breakfast. Be sure to get there early or expect a wait. Food is always on point. The coffee was on the bitter side. Try the ground beef scramble with 3 cheeses and a side of sour cream. AWESOMENESS π
This place is fantastic. The food is very good, the portions of the food are well worth the price and out waitress was awesome!!
Really good place to eat, Fast service and tasty dishes highly Recommended.
I use to really like this place but the last two times Ive been here it just wasnt that great. I took my friend and it was her first time and she didnt really like it either. My pancakes were dry and not much taste and my eggs were tasteless also the hash round were greesy and the only taste they had was pure butter. I was just disappointed.
This place is seriously overrated. The food came out cold. My eggs were overcooked, and the prices are too high for the poor quality of service and food.I had to wait the longest time to ask where my toast that I ordered was.The pancakes were cold. They brought them out with no butter or syrup. To get the waitress to come over was an act of God.Will not go there again.
The first thing you have to do is download the no wait app and place your spot in line. I guarantee you the food is worth the wait. If its your first time here you have to order the 49er flapjacks, either to eat by yourself or to share. They melt in your mouth. The service here is great especially for how many customers they are attending.
Wow this place is great, n I mean great, the food n the service was a #10 you must try it very delicious π
I would feel better if their outdoor seating had a lot more ventilation blowing through. On the bright side, they still had unlimited drinks brought in new cups. One of the greeters was super cute, if that matters to you.Their prices are avg for Whittier. Service is good. I was seated next to the service door where the waiters had to pass lol They kept checking on my table for refills :)I eat a lot so the food wasnt very filling, however, it was mostly tasty. The banana pancakes were a rip off for a $1 upgrade; they didnt taste like banana at all, even with the 3 banana slices I got, split among my 3 flapjacks lol. The last pancake didnt have any evidence of banana in it at all. Next time Im buying my own banana bunch to give to them and telling them not to be stingy with the bananas lolI had the country fried beef steak and $3 hot chocolate (not depicted). Overall, this was a good combination to snack on π
Great food, excellent service. The staff really works as a team, they all help one another out.
Pricey, but very high quality viddles. I have tried nearly everything on the menu with past dine in and recent Covid era takeout. Ask for an omelet with hollandaise on top. The French toast and pancakes taste good with nothing on them. The bacon is something very special. Get there before 7:45 or be prepared to wait.
This place is πAnd the chick that served us was really coolExcellent customer service
Omg I love this place. I mean love its, IV got up at 6am to order from this one cause of how much I love your food. Oj could be bigger but its fresh and really you cant but that or prices.
So glad that things are re-opening. There was still outdoor space but it was great to get back inside. Food still great. Service still friendly and excellent.
Excellent Food, Great Customer Friendly Staff. Really Nice Atmosphere.
The pancakes wack ! The omelette wack! The flavor wack! The service mediocre 10/10 would not eat again
Excellent food and service always. Love this place!
This place has great food. It isnβt cheap but the portions are very large and we always get good service.
Delicious! They definitely know their pancakes! My husband and I have not been out for breakfast in over a year, so this was a very special treat. We ordered online and got our breakfast to go. They were prompt and friendly, and our meals were nice and hot.
Great breakfast spot, with a long history. Many options in the menu, and kid friendly as well. Very friendly staff, but expect a wait, as they do get very busy.
Inexpensive, really good service. They were quick with my order, pancakes were nice and soft.
Have Linda belchers favorite, the Dutch baby ! Check out the waitlist on Yelp
The food was amazing, and the service was even better. I will be back!
I always forget how good their bacon is. I order extra just to take home and make BLTs.
This place is one of the best classic pancakes houses around. Wide selection of breakfast options and great ambiance.
The service was wonderful and the food was good as always. One of my favorite breakfast restaurants to go to
I was disappointed in The Original Pancake House this morning. Service was outstanding; smiles and friendliness all around. But the food was OK at best. At this price point I expected better. I had the corned beef hash and eggs (poached) and a side of biscuits and gravy. The corned beef hash was overcooked and had a sort of metallic taste, and the poached eggs were watery and slightly overcooked. The biscuits were a little dry and if the gravy had sausage I didnt notice. Ill go again because I know theyre better than this, but will stick with their specialty - pancakes. The hot choc was good enough to take a pic.
Great place to eat breakfast. Canβt say I enjoy their omelettes, they are very different than what one expect, but everything else is very delicious.
They seriously need sourdough pancakes on their menu. They stand up to syrup far better than regular pancakes. Seriously you need these now.
Sandra is just awesome π πThank you! Good was delicious too!
Even though it was under the tent it was almost same as being inside only better..... service was pretty good and food was good as usual. One thing that was better was that we could pay to the server. π
The German pancakes with the ligon berries were the best
Went on the weekend. The hosts/greeterswere odd looking but food was exceptional ππ½ π
Weβve been coming here for a long time now, we always have a great experience the staff and management are very friendly. Highly recommended for breakfast in the Whitter area, canβt go wrong with the Dutch baby!
Made a take out order was told to wait outside 15 minutes, 40 minutes later I walked inside and they had the order in the back. once I recieved my order it was cold and soggy waffle. this sucked. never returning here. bad service
Worth the wait, 45 minutes the food is great
Great food, friendly service, safe patio seating
Vowed to try something new every time I visit, cause theres nothing that disappoints!
Go early. No wait. Ordered the country fried steak with gravy over easy eggs and a side of hash browns all very good and flavorful. The coffee was to die for and ask for flavored creamers as they are a few but they give you at a time. Around 830ish in a Sunday more and more people start to come in. Sylvia was are waitress and she was great. Always coming around and asking if we needed anything and asking if we would like refills in are coffee which we did. Will be back soon.
Breakfast with my best friend, coffee is AMAZING, thick bacon and the best pancakes ever!!!
Good place, excellent service and great food highly recommend to anyone for breakfast
I love finding a reason to eat at OPH. It is a great go to when we have out of town visitors, special occasions or . The german pancakes are insane. The coffee is perfect classic coffee flavored coffee. This place feels like home. The owners are fun and always have kind words when we stop in. OPH is a true breakfast miracle.
Service is great, prices are reasonable and the Spinach omelet was so good. Coffee is delicious! I personally did not like the pancakes, which was a little disappointing as that was the main reason we went there. They tasted bland and the texture felt like it was under cooked. Would I go back, definitely and I would probably try the pancakes again, because hey everyone could have an off day! Plenty of parking.
This is definitely one of my happy places! You cant go wrong with a good cup of coffee along with a pancake or waffle. Make sure you ask for extra whipped butter and syrup. They have over 20 locations in Southern California to my understanding. Dont miss this opportunity to visit Youll happy you did.
Quickly went up to my favorite breakfast spot in Whittier !! Loved the service and the food was amazing π€© I ordered the banana pancakes with ham and eggs, it was delicious!
Very good place to eat breakfast! Amazing food.
Absolute gem of a breakfast place. Loved the bacon pancakes.
Wow the 49er is dank af on god 100% recommend
Love this place! Good service and THEY HAVE THE BEST BACON!!!!
Service was great breakfast was even better right on point will be coming back for sure.
The service and meal were just ok. I wont be rushing back any time soon.
Food is always awesome, must try the bacon and they have the best hash browns!
Since I havent really been eating much I thought it was best to have breakfast. Yelped breakfast around the brea/Whittier area and this place popped up.It wasnt that far and they had bacon, eggs and pecan pancakes. Nom nom nomThats exactly what I orderedI checked us in for the waitlist and we still had to wait another 25 minutes. I dont know what the point is to put yourself in the list if you still have to wait.Great server, she was great, attentive and friendly.I ordered 1/2 order of the potato pancakes, I love them so I wanted to try em. $1 lessThey were a little thick and a bit too crispy but ok for trying. I dont really like apple sauce on mine just sour cream :)I ordered the bacon and eggs an upgraded my pancakes for pecan pancakes for an extra $1.I highly recommend doing that. I love pecan waffles, pecan pancakes, pescan pecan......They were pretty great. They also offer this tropical syrup which tats like zesty sugar water lol.I prefer the regular syrup with my pancakesThe strawberry pancakes were also good, but not super fluffy like others Ive had.The bacon, man the BACON, yes the my give you a bunch and they are thick. I plan on making a blt later.$10 for the dish which is a great price.Coffees nice and strong.CleanPlenty of parking but in weekends its packed.
Best service in town, Isaiah give great service π
I consider myself to be pretty good at searching out and discovering good food places to eat. However, this particular discovery (OPH) was considerably different. My companion and i had a deep craving for waffles. Trying to find out whats in the area, i found OPH.Got to the restaurant, i ordered the apple waffle, my companion (she) ordered the plain waffle. We both added bacon and scrambled eggs to the order. Now, i have to say..when i ordered the apple waffles, i had a certain image in my head as to how the waffle would look. (There werent any images available on the menu to see the actual finished product). (We had to use an app based scanner to view the menu.)The image i had in my mind was a large fluffed waffle with sliced apples bathed in an apple cinnamon glaze spread across the waffle and maybe a tinge of whipped cream. Table syrup, not a necessity.ππIn reality, i got a very flat pancake sized waffle topped with cinnamon powder that comes with a small container of apple syrup. ππApparently, the diced apples are in the batter of the waffle mixture. πGreatly disappointed by its presentation and subsequent taste, i sent the waffles back and i ordered the short stack of strawberry pancakes. What a world of difference! ππΌπ .. Three small sized pancakes flowing abundantly with strawberries and whipped cream. Table syrup not needed. It was exactly what my mouth wanted to experience! πππOk, as to the bacon - thick slabs, but it was very salty π¨. The eggs - plain and unseasoned; very basic, at best. My girl, she too wasnt at all impressed with the overall taste of her order. There being any acclaim to this particular restaurants food menu items, pancakes would clearly be its forte. Everything else is what it is.Customer service was great. The staff was very friendly and personable ππΌOverall, OPH gets 2 1/2 stars. I expected a better food tasting experience. Unfortunately, it didnt hit the mark for me.
Great breakfast place! Sometimes a bit of a wait, but so worth it!!
