I went in in at the beginning of the month of may to book a time for boat servicing. It was scheduled for June 8th, and didn’t hear a word about it. The morning of the scheduled maintenance I received a phone call pushing it back a day. This morning I arrived and there were police in the building. I have tried to call six times to no avail, can’t leave a message, and can’t get thru. I am disappointed with the way this has gone, and would have at least used a little follow up. Now I have to start over with a new scheduled time at a different company and hope I can’t get it done before lake trip.

First class. They have been in business for a long time. They have parts inventory and are good to do business with.

No in stock part, however Female was very nice when trying to locate and stated can be here tomorrow. As we looked at show floor we spotted a life jacket in org plastic had two prices. First one was a white file folder label pen hand writing 29.99 and the 2nd inside from manufacturer MSRP 74.99. The guy at the sales counter stated I don’t know where that label came from but I will spilt the difference 50.00 bucks. We declined. The store front had the same life jacket same size and MSRP Tag in an other area as a show display marked with black sharpie :50percent off making it 39.99 on the org plastic. With the same MSRP tag. Our impression was this is shady with sub standard customer service and left.

We took our 2003 VIP boat to Wichita Marine to have a standard oil change and tune up, to have the boat made Lake Ready for the season in April ’12. On June 7th, we were out on the lake when oil exploded out of the engine compartment and all over the back seat of our boat. The oil pressure dropped to zero and the engine seized up. We spent 3 hours waiting to be towed in on our wedding anniversary with our 1 1/2 year old son on board. Its a miracle no one was burned from the hot oil. Wichita Marine was gracious enough to admit that the oil filter gasket was not installed properly and they replaced our engine with a rebuilt engine. It took them a month and a half to get to it. When we received the boat back the first time, there were hoses and wires unplugged, the battery switch was not connected, the 2 batteries and their compartment box were not bolted down in the engine compartment, the bilge was not working and the boat was filthy with oil and dirt from the mechanics working on it. They were supposed to rectify all of these items at the 20 hour oil change to validate the new engines warranty. After hauling the boat from the lake and back to town, one of the batteries slid off of the engine compartment and disconnected several hoses, including the fuel pump and one of the battery cables. We took the boat back to Wichita Marine to have all of the items fixed so that we would not be in danger, get stuck out on the lake again or cause anymore damage to the boat. After another week in the shop, my husband went to pick up the boat and everything seemed to be working and to be put back together correctly. When the boat was tested on the lake, after an hour or so the boat would not start again. The starter was likely to be the problem this time. Wichita Marine, replaced the starter for us at no charge. We had the boat back the next day. When we got the boat out on the water, the boat would not start again. The power cable for the starter had fallen off. It had been taped on with electrical tape and a clamp that was not correct for the starter. We also noticed that the battery switch was not installed properly, and the bilge was not working again and the radio was turning off and on at will. The battery switch and the starter had been cross wired and was causing the gauges and electronics to short out. We thought we had all of that worked out on our own, but low and behold a week later, the boat wouldnt start again. We also noticed while cleaning the boat, that when the battery box was reattached, they screwed through the entire boat - making a hole all the way through to the outside. We took it back to Wichita Marine for the final time and asked that the 20 hour oil change be performed and that they please fix whatever was causing the short and fix the hole in the boat. The owner has been nothing short of uncooperative and callous. Our lives and our child’s life have been put in danger numerous times due to the negligence of this company. Every time we took it back for rework, something else came back wrong. We have lost money, our summer vacations were ruined, and our boat is virtually junk all because of a routine oil change performed by Wichita Marine. Do not take your boat to this company!

I was looking for an odd item that wasnt even for a boat and they went far above and beyond expectations. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit, speaking with the woman in front and Kip digging through old parts to find what I was looking for.

I would NEVER recommend Wichita Marine to anyone for any reason! I took my boat to them. I have a 2015 mercury 4 stroke.. right off the bat the mechanic said well.. I dont have hardly any experience with 4 stroke motors and he laughed! They told me I needed to file an insurance claim due to I had water in my gas! I filed and the insurance rep went to Wichita marine to inspect the motor. The same mechanic said to my insurance adjuster.. I dont have much experience with 4 stroke motors..my insurance company pulled a fuel sample and ran it through their lab and found there was NOT water in the gas and therefore could not cause any motor seizure!. I asked tracy the owner.. or manager not sure what her title is..2 times to do a complete tear down on my motor and find out exactly what the problem is! she never got around to it. always had an excuse that the insurance company isnt going to pay.. therefore she didnt get the tear down done! This woman was very callous and treated me like a worm. I had called her many times left many messages and i received 1 returned call because my brother in law went to inspect my boat and asked her to call me. My boat sat there from may 29th until I went and picked it up.. the whole lower unit was off the motor and laying inside my boat in pieces! I picked it up on july 25th. WHy would a company not do the work a customer asked them to do?? who the heck does she think she is!?? I do not like that place, and then she charged me almost $400 to take my boat home with the motor in pieces. she said her mechanics do not like to work for free. ( the same mechanic that stated he does not know how to work on a 4 stoke boat motor!) Then she proceeded to yell at me as if this is somehow MY FAULT!!?? I told her I asked her 2 weeks prior to the date I went and picked up my boat to do a complete teardown for the 2nd time, she said she would have it done the week before I went to get it... I told her she said this, she said well you should have recorded that!!.I should not have to record anything! I am done with Wichita Marine, it is definitely NOT the business it used to be! I will take it somewhere else where I feel there are competent mechanics working there!
