As far as book stores go, its not the cozies. Ypu will usually find ma and pa book stores to be cozy and warm. However, in todays times a lot of people are interested in modern look with a great selection. This Barnes and nobles certainly has the modern look, and its completed with a currently closed (due to the virus) cafe that i believe is a Starbucks, it has no name anywhere but the menu has Starbucks icons. Between the smell of the coffee and smell of the books, you get that bookstore impact every reader understands.I do have a problem with their selection, just a small one. Its obvious that they are catering to the colleges. Which makes sense, we have so many around here. But as someone just simply living here I couldnt find a single book in the genre I was looking in (True ghost stories). Shame. But, I take no stars off as that is an obvious choice due to its location.Otherwise prices are fine, staff is friendly, I wish the cafe was open, though. Also they have escalators in the middle of the store. They are closed off for some reason, not sure whats going on down there. But it would be nice if the lower floor were used for the less collegey books.Anyway I love it here.
Good, but you dont see get what you pay for
Not a lot of products to purchase. Store is closing
I hate stores that dont price the merchandise. Do better B&N
First time visiting this location, since the one I usually go to will be closed for a few months due to the tornado. Staff was friendly and helpful. I found everything I was looking for. Shelves were fully stocked and neat. Parking downtown is more of a hassle than at the Arena Hub, but not terribly so, although it wasnt free. Would shop there again.
Love these little University offerings of Barnes and Noble stores. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about books. Great collection of local authors, too. Lots of good shops all around it. Convenient location.
Great bookstore but theres nowhere to sit and read.
They have a decent selection of books
This Barnes & Noble in downtown Wilkes-Barre is always a place that I stop in when Im in town. It has a large cafe seating area with the usual selection of drinks and pastries. This location also has the bookstore for Wilkes University and Kings College. So they also sell lots of apparel and merchandise with the names of the school on them. Its centrally located between the two schools. They have a good selection of books, but not as many as some of the larger locations. They can always order a specific book to the store though. There is a nice section with all books that deal with local history also.Definitely worth checking out if youre in the area or going to the local schools.
They dont have a great selection of books. Two books I wanted they had different ones in the series. They offered to get it into the store for me, but at that point it is easier to just get it off of Amazon. I still like going in and browsing, and occasionally Ill find something good. Just bought The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss for cheap.
The store is tidy enough. Expect to get ignored and not to find your book in stock, however. Its a fairly small location and has more merchandise and supplies for the local college than it does books for pleasure reading. Seems to have only the most popular recent releases. I wasnt expecting to find my specific book as its older than I am, but their entire sci-fi and fantasy section was a grand total of two shelving units.
They dont have the US Constitution, but they have the Communist Manifesto for some reason. The clerk actually had to look it up on the computer. I asked a second clerk, a brunette woman wearing glasses up front, and she pretended not to hear me. I was going to make a purchase but set down my selections because I didnt want to give this strange store my money. Its more of a mating ground for college kids, its barely a real B&N. Not recommended.
I always find what i want. Associated are nice always willing to help me. And can get cookies and other stuff ay starbucks inside the store
Its a good idea to download the app and look for deals - regular prices are a little high. But, I do love the atmosphere!
Great place for meeting friends over a beverage. The staff is friendly, the place is always clean. There are great deals on books as well.
Good downtown bookstore that caters to the local universities. Starbucks café has good coffee and some food, but doesnt accept Starbucks gift cards. Pretty much what youd expect from the name and location. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
Good for a smaller store. I get my books for school here too and Ive never had a problem with getting them or refunds. Always a smooth transaction.
Very Friendly store, the staff in this place is very polite and knowledgable. The cashier named Gloria even went as far as to put in the extra 15 cents out of her own pocket so i can buy a gift for someone special. I will be returning without a doubt. I just wish your Art section was more vast.
Wonderful holiday event for the kids!! Free movie and snacks. A really good time for the lil.ones and parents alike!!!
Staff is always helpful..would give 5 stars however i feel the staff is more worried about socializing,as they are all college kids, then helping customers! Overall though the store is always clean and organized and easy to find things on your own!
I have loved this place for a long time. Workers there are very nice and helpful. They always have something I want there
My wife loves it. She gets her Strawberries and Creme from there on an almost daily basis haha, the workers are nice although theres not always someone behind the counter.
Amazing Design. Nice priced books. Nice staff and very clean and quiet.
Nice and clean and super quiet. Enjoyed a nice cold caramel macchiato while I read. Felt lovely.
Love the hot chocolate at this Barnes & Noble / Starbucks best hot chocolate around
Very quiet and relaxing place. Great place to do schoolwork
Ordered 2 ventis, each was only filled 50%. Person was nice and polite but on doesnt care, lazy, or the boss said to be cheat people.
Great place to find wilkes and Kings clothing. The prices are reasonable.
Peaceful shopping feel like Im at a library, love the coffee shop..
One of the worst Barnes and Nobles I have ever been to. The cafe work is shoddy at best and the Barista awkwardly made advances towards me. Another time I was charged a dollar extra for a drink I had. The book selection is bad, the cafeteria section is crappy and full of homeless people and in general the atmosphere sucks. Arena hub is so much better it is sad.
As always excellent bookstore very friendly staff at 5th his location
The store was clean and tidy and, the associate was so kind and helpful too!
Nice store but didnt have the author I was looking for
Love being able to sit and peruse a book or magazine before purchasing it.
Cool place. Hybrid mix of Barnes and Noble and college bookstore with the best coffee and pastry in existence.
I love books, service doesnt seem friendly but overall I just love books so good place lol
Barista at the barnes and noble was one of the most unprofessional people i have encountered in years! Stopped in with my son on our walk over to the farmers market and even my 8 year old asked me why that worker was so mean.
Quite atmosphere, not crowded an good selection of reads
Nice store decent book selection. Only giving 2 stars because the Starbucks in the store doesnt have its own WiFi. There is local WiFi but it is spotty. For a Starbucks so close to a college campus and smack in the middle of downtown Wilkes Barre I find this a little weird.
Lots if good books the only problem is it shouldnt just be a college store
Bad selection, almost the whole children section has been done away wirh?!?
Pretty good Starbucks coffee but itll cost ya... The square vagrants sometimes hang out here but not so much since they stopped the FREE WIFI. The homeless and panhandlers go to Dunkin Donuts across the street which is much worse.
Stop in for coffees after errands. Perfect service, clean atmosphere, quiet setting!
A good place to go for books and great deals
Nice but somewhat limited selection of onsite choices.
Great place to relax have coffee and read a book
Awesome service great staff always happy
Manager Renee is a bully. Knowing knows about wrong doings by employees and does nothing. Ex...cafe mgr taking food n drinks never paying and does nothing. She knows because she gave employee heads up up stop, and did nothing. Corp however came in and fired employee gor those actions. Fire the mgr for knowing it was happening and doing nothing. Over and under ordering. Throwing out hundreds of bottles of soda,13 plus gallons of milk food. Someone need to have a better control on store profits n major losses. Then threatens a young adult 17 with her job. Renee,Samantha could do your job better than you on any day. Employees using numbers to give discounts to customers. Mgr never gets off her ass but sits in an office all day drinking Mt Dew . A customer made sexual references to our daughter at work. Renee was told about it and laughed it off. You can tell she has no kids. When you tell my kid she is stealing by mis charging .50 on a drink. Then call her in and tell her she cant be trusted. Let me tell you this. Our kid bailed your ass out when your dope heads didnt come to work.In rehab or not the BS stories you were fed for your employees just not showing up. They all hate you. No,Samantha always bailed your lazy ass out.And you can tell from camera she is purposely doing It? Our kid is home schooled. Her friends are hours away. She was not purposely doing it as you stated from camera.1 warning and only 1 or your fired and dont ever come back into the store? Since you claim it has been ongoing. And this is the 1st and only warning before firing. Guess thats proof you let things thst are WRONG go.Even though we know this is BS. There is a reason you were demoted to a store mgr from corp, you suck!!!Our kid can do your job better. And show a better profit for the store. She has worked our food business since 3. And had handled thousands of dollars.JUST A BARNES AND NOBLE BULLY....
Good array of books, etc., but no prices for a customer to be able to comparison shop? Not a good tactic, in my humble opinion.
Love this place! Great customer service!!
Great place to get away and catch a few chapters in.
This is a well-kept, laid-back bookstore which carries most books, plus journals, notebooks, phone cards, entertainment cards and games, plus there is a nice in-store cafe which I prefer to the cafe at the Arena Hub location due to friendlier service, not rushing my order, and a larger selection overall.
College books in stock so everything went smooth
One of the employees who works there, Christine, wont quit harassing me over the phone while on the clock. She needs to be fired.
Not as big as one in the mall. Cant wait till Nov!
Good selection for a small bookstore.
You can get books I love boohoo of oops like 100,000, 000,000,000,000,000,000
Very welcoming atmosphere and nice sitting area
Quiet clean place to escape to. Friendly employees.
I dislike the coffee but everything about the place is top-notch otherwise its not considered a full Barnes and Nobles but some kind of student supply place allowing them to get out of honoring certain coupons and promotions nor is it the size of of a Barnes & Nobles so only 4 stars.
So glad they are back! We missed them so much! Buying online just isnt the same
Not a great selection of notebooks. Very overpriced
Omg came here to study and this loud attention seeking barista was so loud and ghetto I cant believe she works In a book store beyond irritating.
Always love to spend an hour or two in Barnes and Nobles
Large selection of books. Employees were very helpful.
Nice place organized had what I wanted
They did not have any books at all on the topic I was looking for
Very expensive. Cashier and manager not helpful with using the B&N educators discount card.
You have to buy something in order to get ice water now.
The service is very friendly and the selection of non-fiction books is awesome!
Love the store
Better parking options are needed.
Rip off. Do not buy books here ! Search online for different other options before buying here !
Was not a normal Barnes and nobles not kid friendly more for college kids
Love that Starbucks is inside.
It is very cozy quiet to talk
Over priced. Use chegg or amazon.
Nice and polite personel
One of the best book stores around.
Unique place for a first date
It was a pleasant experience.
Really tiny bookstore, geared for College students. .the parking is difficult
Always go here for my morning coffee, lines are usually not as long as the other Starbucks in the area, but they dont accept Starbucks gift cards. Sometimes they have sales on the college clothing, and lots of books.
It was ok your typical book store
The Vera Bradley selection was scant, and the Starbucks doesnt participate in the Rewards program.
Not like the mall store but it still has books
Its too expensive but got good items
For me I like this place but is seems like its going downhill nobody comes in in joehncks coffee or uses the cafe anymore they close at 5:00 p.m. the used to stay open Until 9:00 p.m.
Clean, decent selection, and good coffee.
Expensive and the employees gave me contradicting information.
A chill place to relax with a cup of coffee.
Amazon Price match? I bought a book at this Store for $189 and went on amazon to see price match and found out the book can be rented for $32!!! And buyout is $140!
Friendly and convenient.
Can get lost in the books
Helpful & professional!
Nice, clean, decent service
Cool.
