Lets forget the amazing food, the (what i thought to be) really nice decor, and the extremely friendly staff, its the service that set this little restaurant apart from any other restaurant Ive EVER been to. The women who took care of us was not only nice and welcoming but genuinely cared about my experience. Her attention to detail was superb, she noticed by herself that we needed things and brought them to us, 100/100 will be returning any time I visit willoughby.
Awesome all across the board! The food and service was superb. Katie, our server was awesome. She didn’t skip a beat and served our huge party with no problem at all. Constantly filling our cups, and checking to make sure we had everything we needed. Absolutely loved the breakfast potatoes she recommended. I’ll definitely drive 45 minutes to come back.
I am so pleased to find this treasure chest of great service by our server Katie, great food by all of the talented cook staff, and the designer/decorator who created a hometown feel in the middle of downtown! OH! And shout to the guy who answered the phone to take our reservation for a large group. Awesome customer service!!!!! Thank you, SLAY.
I really WANT to like this place - friendly, fast service, great decor/atmosphere, nice patio. But the food was sub-par.I had the cedar-planked steelhead ( a “chef’s specialty”), and the beurre blanc was overwhelming and it had a weird Cedar undertone that was unpleasant. My wife had a Reuben ( which our server heartily endorsed) and she was underwhelmed. The potatoes were REALLY good however.
Best breakfast Ive had all year, honestly. Coffee was really good too. Had the breakfast tacos..flavor atop flavor, atop flavor. Compliments to the chef.

I had an awesome experience here...everyone was nice! I had the Chefs special of a portobello and truffle ravioli with grilled chicken on the top and my guy had a patty melt with the crispy spuds! Really good....Ill definitely be coming back sooner than later!
Greeter asked us if we wanted to eat inside or outside, we chose inside. She told us that we could take any open table that had silverware on it. Shortly after we sat down server came to the table with menus, asked for our beverage choice. Returned with our drinks, took our breakfast orders. Short time later served us our meals. Never came back to our table to see how everything was. (Other servers were constantly checking their tables around us) After we were done eating, server showed up with our check, said there was no hurry to pay. When were ready to pay, she was nowhere to be found. We asked another worker if we could pay at a register only to be told that each server kept their own register. Finally came to us to get payment, said she would be back with our change, that took close to five minutes. Her tip reflected her poor service.
I love it! Something for everyone. I had prime rib and key lime pie. Pie seemed from scratch and the prime was cooked to a perfect medium temp. My over medium egg was also perfect. Waitress was on time with the coffee fill ups. I couldnt have asked for a more perfect experience

What a pleasant surprise this cute little diner was fun! The food was good. I would give a 5 star rating but the food was only warm and it definitely needs to come out hot for me to grant the highest level. Our waitress, loved her. Sweet and kind. Atmosphere is a 5 star. Coffee, was great. Its a dark roast. But its nice to have coffee that tastes like coffee not water. So in all wonderful, just needed to get that for temp up! Thank you diner for a great morning!
Delicious! Went for breakfast...our first time there. Pancakes were fluffy and flavorful and my wifes four egg omelette was enough for two meals. Very quick and friendly service. Looking forward to trying lunch and dinner with them very soon!
Located in historic downtown Willoughby. Very quaint and free parking everywhere! Do yourself a favor and get the parmesan breaded tomatoes. Fish fry was great too. Huge piece of fish, served with fries and unique kale coleslaw (very yummy). Great service and fun environment ☺️
What a great place in the downtown area. The rueben was incredible with the crispy potatoes. The sandy bar breakfast comes with grilled pork tenderloin, what a concept! It was delicious. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Looking forward to them getting thier liquor license. Until then, the beer and wine will do.
Great afternoon strolling thru town and finding this place to eat, food was great, zucchini appetizer and sauces, excellent, A for presentation and flavor. Our waitress was excellent. Will be going back soon
I go here specifically for their bean-based veggie burger, but the steelhead salmon is spectacular also. Husband had their Diner (french) dip and gave it 2 thumbs up. Service is great. Easy access and plenty of parking in back.
Food is well priced, tastes amazing, and the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items. The owner personally greeted us at the door, and made sure our experience was a pleasant one. He let us know where the fish and meat come from, how they’re prepared (which is all in house) and what his favorites are. All the dishes we ordered came out hot, fresh, and delicious! I highly recommend the Chagrin River Diner.
We sat out on the patio and had burgers that were amazing. The street is a little busy but overall its a great place to eat. Loved the homemade tater tots. We live on the west side and its worth going back for.

My goodness did we enjoy our lunch. Nice people and a menu that reminds me of my childhood. From fried bologna sandwich to Portobello & truffle ravioli and Steelhead salmon. What a local treasure. Our waiter Kevin was super nice and the place has a great laid-back atmosphere. I cant wait to come back. Thanks for the great lunch!!
AMAZING. The staff is so wonderfully friendly & the food is not only unique but cooked excellently. The amount of plants outdside the resteraunt & the wild flowers on the tables inside are just adorable. Highly recommend

Breakfast menu has standard stuff, but several special dishes nobody else offers. I got the Diner Hash Breakfast with chorizo and jalapeños. Lots of great food on my plate, service great,kitchen fast.

Our first visit and definitely not our last. Fun decorations made for a cozy environment. Ordered a few different sandwiches off the menu as well as the calamari and it was all very tasty. Saw a lot of breakfast food passing by and it all looked delicious also. There were small price increases from what was shown on the online menu (a dollar per item roughly) so be aware of that.
Brought my sister in law from Arizona for delicious French toast with fresh berries breakfast. Excellent choice and the best service!! Will be back
My wife and I went for the first time and enjoyed everything. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. The staff are helpful and friendly. The breakfast menu all looks really good. Theres the option to build your own breakfast with lots to choose from. My wife got the avacado toast which was very good. I got the Lunker which was also very good buts its a ton of food. It was worth it though. We will come back and try their lunch menu but so fart I would highly recommend going g for breakfast.

Every time I go here the food, cleanliness, and service is nothing less than excellent! From the breakfast tacos to the seafood bisque, everything is flavorful! I love ginger...so I always have to get a glass of their homemade Ginger Ale!

They have their menu written on chalkboards, available online for people like me that need the description, and a paper version for people like my friend who had bad service and couldnt pull up the online menu. I got the Lunker and could not finish it. It was so good and took my leftovers home for my mom, who also loved it. Their cold brew is good and I really wanted to try their Brioche French Toast. Definitely something on the menu for everyone and to top it off they have a great vibe! Cant wait to go again and highly recommend!
We went for breakfast and really loved the look of the place. Our service was friendly and efficient. The grapefruit juice was very nice. We both got the eggs benedict with the prime rib, which was tasty. Would have liked a touch of spice in the hollandaise sauce. What brought the meal down was that about half of my potatoes were essentially raw, my husband could not even finish them. I would definitely try this place again though because they had many menu options that sounds interesting. Will update when I go back.Edited to give a fourth star. The tacos were really good for breakfast. I would recommend the tacos over the eggs benedict. The tomatillo sauce was already very good
Im a regular here. The service is excellent. Never had a bad meal. Highly recommend the diner tots and muffins!!! I would be giving this place all my money if they had more vegan and vegetarian options.
Perch was good and several of the menu items were also good. The prices are as expected for the location. The interior was a nice ambiance and we may go here again outside of lent.
What a gem! Looking for dinner at 7:30 on a Friday night. They close at 8. Asked if we could still come in and we were welcomed with a big smile. What a cool place! Is a diner with a super cozy feel, with a fishing theme. The booths are divided with gigantic chalk boards that serve as menus, and are all hand written! Not just typical diner fare. There are yummy twists like carnitas and zucchini cakes. And you can pretty much create anything you want using the menu items if youre feeling creative. We got are perch fish fry and a cod fish fry. SO good! And the cole slaw is actually kale slaw - holy cow was that good. Cant wait to go back for breakfast! I highly recommend!

Great breakfast, but where I fell in love was with their burgers and sandwiches. The benny burger is one of the best burgers out there.. and the fried bologna sandwich is great as well! The diner tots are delicious and offer a nice change up from French fries. The guys who prepare the food always do an excellent job, and the serving staff is always friendly. Love this place and so glad they moved into DTW!

Walked by this restaurant and the worker that was about to light a cigarette out back saw my kids and pulled out of his mouth. He waited to smoke until we were down the block. Says a lot about the employees and management here.

I work in a restaurant so I accept the same kind of service we give. This isnt a review on the food, I walked in and stood there for 10 mins and no one acknowledged us. No one told me a wait time or let me know theyd be with me soon. To me that is bad service.

First time here was on a Sunday morning and we had a larger group, the staff was very accommodating getting us seated. The wait staff was very good and friendly. I got the pancakes which were better than your usual breakfast spot pancakes. In our group of 9 we got a variety, tacos, french toast, the lunker and everyone enjoyed their food. Will definitely be coming back soon!
I cannot understand why restaurants are not spotless, they had plenty of time to clean. Food was good and service was good.
