This family owned business is very kind, and I was pleased with their service. However, their carpets are NOT priced competitively. My wife and I were quite disappointed when we found out later that we could have purchased a similar rug at 1/3rd of the cost of what was paid for it. It was our error for not shopping around and comparing prices, however we expected a level of honesty with regards to this sale.

Moe was great in helping me find the perfecta rugs for my home. He allowed me to take home 8 different rugs until I found the perfect ones to fit my decor. They had a great selection to choose from and their prices were reasonable! I had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend!

Weve bought several very high quality rugs from Shabahang Royal Carpet and when we needed a new 9 x 12 rug for our living room we new who to see first and after making our purchase - last. Were always treated well from the moment we step into the showroom until the moment we leave with the carpet of our choice. As before, they allowed us to take an area rug home to see what it would look like in our room and under the lights in our home versus the lights in the showroom. Once again, the selections offered were many and varied enough for us to find what we were looking for. We highly recommend this store the next time you need a beautiful area rug. This was such a great experience. Who thought buying a rug could be fun - but after looking on line and in numerous stores for months I finally stopped in this local gem and what a pleasant surprise. The owner is lovely, knowledgeable - and in good enough shape to move rug after rug after beautiful rug to find the perfect one for my home. I think I almost wore him out! Of all of the purchases I have ever made, I honestly believe the experience of buying the rug for my living room stands at the top of the list. I had been looking online and in several stores for a quality area rug, but I wanted to know what I was getting and I hadnt found the right rug or someone with expertise to guide me. One day I stopped into Shabahang Royal Carpet in Wilmette to browse as I had seen the store there for years. As Moe writes in his website, he believes that one of the most important assets is the company’s experienced, dedicated staff, whose priority is to take care of their customer’s needs. That is so true! Moe is a charming, entirely engaging, and knowledgeable expert who bent over backwards to work with me to find the perfect rug. He and his assistant tirelessly went through huge piles of rugs to show me his gorgeous inventory, gauging what I liked and didnt like. When we were done he offered to bring several rugs to my home to see how they were in my living rooms lighting and space which is what we did and we found a rug that I know we will always treasure. Moe helped me understand the value of this possession -- something I will live with for years to come. As to cost, along the way Moe insisted that first we must find the right rug and hed have the best price. He was correct. And, there was never any pressure -- just genuine, thoughtful assistance from someone I know future buyers will be glad they met.

The owner of the store, Moe, and his family offer the best selection of rugs from around the world.They found the perfect rug for me and let me put a cash hold on it until another family member could see it and offer her opinion. The service is five-star and the merchandise top notch. Ive had them remove blueberry stains from a rug, too. Buy a rug and get an education in how and where it was made.

Having lived in Iran (before the revolution) and other Middle Eastern countries, I grew up with an appreciation for well-made carpets. Shabahang is the real deal. Their carpets are handmade and feature beautiful classic and some more modern designs. We used them for repairs to two rugs - one traditional Persian rug and one tribal rug from Afghanistan - and they did incredible jobs on the repairs and cleaning for both of them. They also cut carpet pads for them. In addition, the price was very good. I highly recommend Shabahang for new rugs as well as repairs.

First, we had two rugs cleaned by them - they picked up the rugs, cleaned them beautifully and then delivered them, with new pads, all for a very reasonable price. Next, we went to their store first to shop for a runner for our foyer, thinking we would try a number of places. This place is awesome!Met the owner when dropping off my rugs for cleaning. He shared his knowledge and passion for all types of persian rugs.He looked at my 2 old and stained carpets that needed a good cleaning, light repair and padding. The rug had dog urine on it and it needed a good cleaning.He performed the cleaning artfully... no color runs and actually ran it thought twice at no extra charge.Superior service and excellent quality rugs. Just bought a rug here for our formal dining room. Great place, great selection, great service. We had trouble deciding between two different rugs and they were kind enough to bring them by to our home so we could see them both in our space to help make our decision.

My wife and I had a great experience purchasing a handmade rug from Shabahang. Following our initial visit, we shopped around (e.g. Macys furniture, etc.). Even at their 50% to 60% discounted rate, the handmade rugs at large retailers/department stores were still more expensive and not as gorgeous as the rugs at Shabahang. We returned within the week to purchase a rug. Moe Shabahang is a very decent man, a straight shooter who takes pride in the quality and beauty of his rugs. Id highly recommend his store to anyone in the market for a handmade rug.

My wife and I have been customers for more than ten years. We drop in from time to time to see the changing collection of beautiful rugs, and took advantage of the recent season Tent Sale to purchase a half dozen rugs. We find rug qualities and designs at Shabahang that cannot be found anywhere else in the metro area. We enjoy talking with the proprietors, father and son, who are empassioned teachers about the art and manufacture of carpets, and who have an eye for unusual designs that thrill us too. We have always found the prices to be most fair and reasonable. We also appreciate the fact that Shabahang provides excellent cleaning and repair services -- they are cleaning two of our delicate rugs right now, and there are not many people we would entrust with the task.

As far as Im concerned, you cant find better service or value anywhere on the North Shore! Heres why:In the early 90s Shabahang had a location on Michigan Avenue near where I lived. My husband and I shopped the Chicago area for Persian rugs. We ultimately purchased a number of fabulous antique and new(er) rugs from Shabahang because of the extraordinary level of knowledge, experience and service.Awhile after we moved to the North Shore, I noticed Shabahangs then-new location on Lake in Wilmette. I knew the time would come when we would do business again. I recently had to have a number of rugs cleaned and needed a new rug for a house that I am renovating. I received the same level of service, along with a very surprising revelation - even though I am almost 30 years older, I was recognized as soon as I walked in. Not only that, the rugs I brought in for cleaning were remembered too. After trying a couple of different rugs in the space, I purchased another gorgeous piece and couldnt be more pleased.

We just bought a gorgeous rug from Shabahang. Afshin was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and, after going through much of their extraordinary inventory, really knew what we were looking for. We love our rug and will definitely be back for more.

An experience above and beyond my best hopes! We needed to replace an area rug and we saw the tent sale sign. I went in later and Esfahan was such a help! He patiently showed many rugs, took out the ones I liked. I said I would have to have my husband look at them and he said they would bring them to the house! The brought them the next day. Esfahans father and helper came. They were wonderful. After putting each of the rugs down, we all agreed on the one we liked best (even though it was not the most expensive...they are interested in a great fit and customer happiness). Mr. Shabahang measured the rug pad we had and had the helper cut it while I paid for the rug. The rug is of excellent quality and is just beautiful! We walk past it and sigh with delight. The price was also excellent with the tent sale.From start to finish this was a wonderful experience. And we have an exquisite rug that will last generations. Thank you!!!

I dont have time to write many reviews, but Shabahang Royal Carpet is deserving of a 5-star rating. They are knowledgeable, kind, helpful and interested in educating you as much, or as little, as you would like about the rugs and their stories. They dont pressure you, but are so accommodating and patient. I was shopping there with my little kids and they were so welcoming and even allowed the children to gently explore the rugs and play with some of the yarn. Yes we bough our most recent rug here, and not only would I do it again because of the the outstanding service we experienced, I would also shop there again and recommend Shabahang Royal Carpet to my friends because their prices are right! My 9 x 12 rug was left behind during a major remodel of my home and was covered in dirt and soot throughout the winter months. I discovered the rug buried in debris. I brought it to Shabahang carpet in Wilmette to be cleaned - I was fully prepared to be rejected when they saw the condition of the rug. Shabahang carpet accepted the challenge and now my rug is like new again! I could not believe it! Although this is not one of the fancy rugs as sold by Shabahang - just a regular rug off white with colorful swirls that was used in my tween daughters room - they took care and ensured the rug was completely clean and is back to its former glory! To top it off - charged price of a regular cleaning although this rug had to be a nightmare given its light vibrant colors covered in construction soot! Thanks Shabahang!

This is now officially my second experience with purchasing a genuine Persian rug over the last 5 years and in fact its my first experience with them that lead me to write this review. Ive never meet a more genuine and experienced sales people in my life. Not only did they help get the PERFECT rug, but the passion they have for the history of these rugs is amazing. Dont get me wrong Im clueless when it comes to these rugs so having guidance from the Father and Son Shabahangs really made all the difference. Even hearing their personal journey and tradition of family history that has been passed down from generation to generation is quite remarkable.
